Kabob & Gyro Grill is owned by 23-year-old Wais Safi. His family, including his brother Sal Safi, father Rasheed Safi and uncle Ahmad Safi, also spend their days working at the restaurant. The family started in gyros 11 years ago when Rasheed Safi opened the family’s first restaurant in the Bay Area. Before that, he was a journalist in Afghanistan. Ahmad Safi is a doctor in New Zealand, but is working at the restaurant while he spends the month visiting his family locally.
