★★★★★ I'm surprised by the recent negative reviews. I went to Affy's on my recent trip to Toronto and I am willing to go back just to visit Affy's. We had a large group but the server was really friendly. It was a nice simple family enviroment place but still had a modern touch to it. We got some chips and salsa before they served us our food.
The honey wings were perfectly crispy and a had a coating of a thick sweet sauce but not overly sweet.
The filet mignon was perfectly medium well as asked for and every bite was delicious. The stuffed chicken breast was also very nice with a kick to it. I had a taste of the ribs and they were very tender.
I agree the prices are up there but the quality and the portions make up for it.
If you have not tried this place I highly reccomend you go there! Posted on August 28, 2013 |

★★★★★ Best time to go is on weekdays when they open for lunch at 12pm. Penne pastas, with chickeb or beef are excellent. Lemon herb chicken with rice or vegetables are excellent. Fried calamari for appetizer is superb. Overall, one the best halal restaurant in GTA. Posted on December 23, 2017 |

★★★☆☆ I've been going here for about 7 years now, and it's a good family restaurant. While I have my reservations..it's worth visiting. The biggest downside is inconsistency. And I say this after 7 years of dining. While the food is good, I've often had inaccurate orders or just downright disappointing meals, with no attempt to fix it. It is not phenomenal food but, it is hearty and filling. Their overshadowing downside has been their service..or lack thereof. I've waited over 50 mins for an order on slow nights, many many times. No one would tell us the status of our order, or the reason for the delay, or attempt to make up for it in anyway. We've just waiting, always asking our waiters, who tell they'll check..but never follow up on it. I've tried to voice this and have never been replied to or even been told they're working on it. It's as if they take their customers for granted. Yes, the food is pretty good, and the prices relatively fair. But the lack of improved service over all these years has really turned me and a large group of friends. I'd only ever go on weeknights, and even then, I'd hesitate. Posted on March 17, 2016 |

★★★★★ This place has been reviewed plenty of times... this reviewer will vouch for the amazing quality of the full rack of barbecued beef ribs ($33)--perfectly seasoned and barbecued to falling-off-the-bone perfection. The poutine ($5) is surprisingly outstanding, made from a spicy gravy with just the right amount of cheese. The chicken/steak fajitas ($15) are also excellent, but completely overshadowed by the other offerings. An outstanding restaurant. Posted on December 30, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ I guess its all downhill for them now. It was a night of errors and disappointments. Also note I have been there many times before and I eat everywhere so I know what I am talking about.
Their mess-ups listed:
1- We had made reservations;and we arrive 5min before time and yet find out place not available/given out earlier by them. We had to hang around and look at people leaving to scout for table.
2- Now that we were seated no menu arrived until we asked for it.
3- We waited and weren't served the complementary tortilla chips...and when they came they were of very poor quality. Guess austerity measures have be implemented at Affys.
4- Food arrived on time (even though the restaurant was packed); this surprised us...until we discovered it had been cooked fast and burnt. The ribs were dried out from top and very burnt. Tasted burnt too. Now when we told them of this...instead of owning their shortcoming and offering to remake it - all we got were excuses. That the meat vendor is new one etc. It has dried from outside not burnt. All from the owners mouth.
I think they have earned so much that they are too proud and not bothered to own up screwups and provide decent customer service. Well pride before fall. I am sure it will be all downhill for them.
Go there if you want to pay overpriced meal in an average ambiance, with poor customer service and unreliable food (its your luck if it turns out well). Posted on August 23, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ After a night out at the slopes our party of six was famished. Where to eat? Between Big Mama's House and Affy's Premium Grill, after some hesitation from me, my cousin and my brother we decided to give Affy's Preumium Grill another chance. We were seated in a quiet area where the television was playing in the background. One thing I commend them for is they sat us down at a table where our women could eat without covering their faces. Let me say one thing before I continue, we haven't been to Affy's for almost 2 years now. My wife will go with her friends, but I have always refused to go. I would rather drive to Kara Mia in Vaughn than be disappointed with Affy's horrible customer service and mediocre food, which is always a hit and miss.
Okay, so, we placed our order with our waiter, Hashmat, who was speaking as if he had to run a marathon. We ordered, a mango chicken, a soupe du jour, which was spelled "soup du joure," a herb and lemon chicken, rib eye steak, stuffed cajun chicken breast and a Chef's special. Without even offering their on-the-house chips we counter-asked the waiter for some. He brought us some waters and we were told our food would be ready in a half an hour or more. I'd like to mention that this was at 10:15pm and the restaurant had about 10-12 people at the time on a Saturday night, a small crowd for a Saturday night. Anyways, Hashmat returned with our meagerly proportioned chips and salsa. There are six of us and he brought chips for two. I understand that it's on-the-house, but if you put that many chips in front of six people they're going to start to wonder why he even brought them in the first place. So, my wife called him over and asked if we could get more chips and Hashmat spoke to us like we were six year olds. He tells us that we should finish the ones we have before we can get some more, really? We laughed it off thinking he's tired, let it be.
Ten minutes later he returned with our salads and soup. The soupe du jour was a cream of mushroom soup and my cousin took one spoonful of it and he said it was insanely salted and buttery. His wife tasted it and concurred. Now from what I remember about dining out at a restaurant, especially at Kara Mia or even Popeyes, when it was halal, if you say something didn't meet your expectations the waiter accepts, especially if you've taken two bites out of it, and ask the customer if he would like something else. So, we called Hashmat over and my wife tried to explain to him that the soup didn't taste good, in a manner which was quite respectable and he tried to tell her that he couldn't do anything about it. So, I stepped in and told the waiter the soup doesn't taste good, take it back. He tells me that he's had the soup earlier and it was just fine. So, I tell him the soup tastes like crap, and that's when Hashmat lost it. He told us that it's not nice to tell people that their food is crap. So, I tried to tell him that it's nothing personal we just don't like the soup, but he was inclined on making a name for himself at Affy's and explains that once you order something they have to charge us for it. At this point we're all thinking why did we come back? Seriously?
We waited for our food and at about 10:50 our food arrives. The mango chicken, the herb and lemon chicken and the chef's special were perfect, I'm not even going to lie. On the other hand, my wife's stuffed cajun chicken breasts arrives with a long black curly hair on the side of the mashed potatoes and she's thinking, do I even tell them? What else can possibly go wrong? We called the young lady that brought us our dishes and she said she was sorry and she took my wife's plate and returned within a couple of minutes with, I don't know if it was a new serving of mashed potatoes or they just removed the hair, whatever it was my wife didn't say anything. My brother ordered the rib-eye steak which we all thought would be grilled and saucy. Disappointed once again, his rib-eye steak is served on a sizzler covered in butter and mushrooms. They should have used those mushrooms in the soup for goodness sakes! My brother took the mushrooms off passed them to me and ate his steak quietly. While we were having dinner it was nice of Hashmat to come by and re-fill our glasses, alhamdulillah. My brother asked for the menu to double check how the rib-eye steak was described and how he could miss a bed of mushrooms? Surely, disappointed once again, in the description there was no sign of A mushroom or a sizzler, but the steak was covered in mushrooms?! It also mentioned in the description that it comes with your choice of sauce, it came with nothing but butter and mushrooms.
We finished our meals and, Alhamdulillah we were quite content, we had devoured our meals within minutes. Everything would have been fine, until the chef's wife had come out to see what the problem was with the soup. She asked us what was wrong, so we told her the soup was buttery and overly salted. She in turn tells us that this isn't a sampling restaurant and we don't take things back once you've ordered them, WHAT?!! We all laughed it off thinking that's is crazy. As Hashmat returns with our bills, he asks me how the meals were, my wife replies with, "excellent, apart from the chips, the hair and the soup." All Hashmat hears is the soup, so he begins to tell us that he didn't charge us for the soup but restaurant took a hit of $2.50. $2.50? You'd rather lose customers that bought your chef's special which was a hefty $24.99 and 4 other meals amongst 6 people than take a hit of $2.50? It doesn't make sense. So, my wife tells him if you've sold 100 soups today and like you said no one complained and only one came back, a hit of $2.50 isn't much. He ignores her continues in his argumentative tone that I am one of the best waiters at this establishment, did you see who's picture is on the wall? I have been here for four years. During all of this, he's trying to put my debit transaction through, but he's being so cocky and argumentative that the transaction timed out three times.
Mmy brother, who was quiet all this time, even though he had a rib-eye covered in mushrooms tries to explain to Hashmat that we're only trying to give you feedback, the soup was not good which is why we weren't going to eat it. So, Hashmat decides to compare me to my brother and tells my brother that I should have been nicer instead of saying the soup was crap. My brother tries to explain to him that my cousin tried to tell you, and my brother's wife tried to tell you and my brother tried to tell you as well, but you only listened when we said CRAP! He also tells him about his rib-eye steak, which Hashmat has NOTHING to say about.
All this time, we're wondering if customers are here at 11pm, and they were having problems, wouldn't the chef come out to speak to them? Nope! He stayed in the kitchen all night. Very interesting.
As we're leaving the restaurant, we notice there are a couple of guys that we had seen on the slopes having dinner as well. One of the guys turns to us and says, "even McDonald's gives you new fries," to which Hashmat replies, "this isn't McDonald's." Wow! I am appalled at the level of respect and courtesy these waiters and waitresses at Affy's "Premium" grill have. This isn't the first time we were stuck with a waiter like this. I don't understand, why would you get so mad at something as small as a soup? How often do these kinds of things happen that an establishment like Affy's doesn't refund you for food you disliked and didn't eat? It really makes you wonder. Well, that will be my absolute last time going to Affy's. After numerous rude and lazy waiters and waitresses and getting food poisoning, I have had with Affy's. Posted on May 20, 2014 |

★★★★★ Food was pretty good. Service was mediocre. Im glad I got to watch the Hockey Game between the Habs/Leafs there. Kind of felt uncomfortable when the waitress kept telling us to order as we were waiting for a friend. A bit pricey...but affordable. Posted on March 11, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ My husband and I went here on a weekend. It was pretty quite, as it was between lunch and dinner. The waitress came after 15mins and took our order. She came with the drinks and then was gone. When I mean gone, I mean GONE! We waited over an hour for 2 dishes and the waitress never came to check on us or let us know what was going on even once. When the food arrived I didn't enjoy it all...my chicken pasta was so oily and cold. I will never be going back here, service was horrible. Posted on March 8, 2014 |

★★★★★ You get what you pay for
Texas Chicken Fried Sandwich, BBQ Ribs, FILET MIGNON AU POIVRE
Texas Chicken Fried was massive, it had a nice and crispy chicken center with the standard toppings.
BBQ Ribs - have had these a few times and this place makes them the same every time! LARGE serving, extremely tender, good cover of fat and a nice coating of tasteful sauce.
FILET MIGNON AU POIVRE - this is prime quality meat! It would definitely melt in your mouth but it is not super filling, sides are crucial.
Large space, but always busy on the weekends so call ahead.
Other dishes like Calamari, Pastas, Stuffed Cajun Chicken breast are all fair. Posted on December 10, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ my friends/family and I have gone to this restaurant many many times because we live in the area. the food is hit and miss most of the time. Whatever we order is pretty good but sometimes the food is bad enough that I want to send it back (usually the fish n chips). its hard to find good halal food in pickering sometimes which is why we keep going back. I think my biggest problem with this restaurant is the fact that your reservation is non existent you still end up waiting (as if you are at the doctors office) usually 1 to 2 hours . I think that the servers need a little bit of training because I have never gone there where they haven't made mistakes. I don't like tipping people for bad service and I still tip out of courtesy, however if none of us have full water glasses and you keep forgetting to bring ketchup and hot sauce,I don't think that you have earned your tip at all. Overall the food is decent and so are the prices, however affys needs to invest some money into having more space or they shouldn't take more reservations than they can handle. ★☆☆☆☆ We had a reservation for 9 PM for a party of 12. This was for a birthday. We got to the restaurant at 8:45PM and asked for our table. Host at the front tells us our table is actually for 9 PM. Restaurant was very busy so no room to wait inside, we wait outside.
At 9:15 PM we ask for our table. Host tells us it will be another 15 minutes because our current table is occupied. We weren't offered to wait inside, or apologies for our table not being ready (It was a cold night out) and thus we went back outside to wait for our table.
At 9:30 PM we went back to ask for our table. Our table is still not ready. Host asks us how many of our party has arrived, we tell her 8. So she gives us a table of 8 to wait at while our table of 12 is being readied. 9:35 PM, more of our party arrives and there is no room at the table of 8 so we occupy the table adjacent while we wait. Host comes back and advises us she will take our order but not punch into the system because we were still short 2 guests at the time, that way when the rest of the party arrives, she can punch in the order all at once so we can all have our food at the same time. We agree.
This is where things get really interesting: Member of our party, lets call him Bob, who knows the Owner offers to speak to him about the table situation. Owner arrives and basically asks us "Is this not good enough for you?". Host of our party, lets call her Susan, tells him no it isn't because we made a reservation for a table of 12 and right now, we as a party are split between 2 physical tables, we were told that we would get a table of 12. Owner replies back "We can say whatever we want over the phone, sister. But when you come, we cannot guarantee anything because it is a busy night".
I thought the whole point of a RESERVATION was that we get a table DURING A BUSY NIGHT. Susan tells the owner that if that is the case, we should have been told over the phone that this is the case so that she could have made other arrangements.
Owner at this point asks us to move to YET ANOTHER table whilst we wait for OUR table because he had a reservation waiting for THE TABLE WE WERE SITTING AT. Susan tells him that is not possible because we are being moved again and again and it is unfair and embarrassing to her and her party.
Owner tells us that we have to wait, leaves, comes back in 5 minutes (this is now 9:50PM) and speaks to Bob and basically berated him because he required the table for a reservation that we were sitting at waiting for OUR table, and then proceeds to tell him that had we ordered our food and agreed to move to another table so that another reservation can get the table WE WERE SITTING AT WHILST WAITING FOR OUR ORIGINAL TABLE, we would have gotten our food. And that we were being unfair. He basically shrugged at us and walked off.
Never mind the fact that only 5 minutes had passed since he first came to assess the situation, he berates Bob who isn't EVEN THE HOST OF OUR PARTY, he offers NO APOLOGIES, NO VALID EXPLANATION of this situation, his only answer to this fiasco, was "it is a busy night".
I am sorry, but as a PAYING CUSTOMER, I know that it is a Saturday, I know that therefore, it will be a busy night. Hence the reason we decided to RESERVE a table. If our reservation cannot be honoured, or is being delayed, COMMON COURTESY and COMMON PRACTICE DICTATES, that you apologize for the wait, or try and find a solution. What do DO NOT DO, IS BERATE YOUR GUESTS BECAUSE YOU CANNOT HANDLE RUNNING A RESTAURANT.
I have been to a lot of restaurants and this, by far and wide, was THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD. McDonalds, has better service than this place. The only reason we stayed back at this point was because it was 10PM and there was no place other than McDonalds that we could go for a meal.
We ordered our food, it arrived in about 30 minutes, which was fine. It was, to be fair, delicious. But again, even as we were leaving, we NEVER got an apology or a thank you for waiting 1 WHOLE HOUR for a table that we had reserved.
And THAT, sheer lack of service and responsibility, is the reason I will NEVER go to this restaurant again, and I urge everyone reading this NOT TO EVER TAKE GUESTS to this establishment or you may risk being embarrassed or insulted by the very arrogant, ignorant owner, or the clueless, rude, thankless staff.
Great food, SAVAGE service. I am sorry, but for my hard earned money, I refuse to eat in a place where I am treated like I am being given a free meal.
By the way, restaurant was too cold, and had flies AND fruit flies. Perhaps a visit from the Health Inspector is needed. Posted on September 15, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ Affy's is my and my kids all time favourite. I'm giving this place 3/5 because the service is really poor and slow. We went there for aftari in Ramadan and it was almost taraweeh time but food wasn't ready, I had to go next door to buy fish and fries for my kids since they were starving. We ordered back ribs, it was very dry and rice portion was really small when asked they said that they have so many guests so giving small portion of rice. I wasn't happy at all since I had to wait for 1.5 hrs for my food. We go there at least once a month and its the same routine and recently there prices went high but service went more down. I will NOT be going there again and for others I suggest to go there for lunch on weekday or if you have to go weekend dinner, order your food at least 2 hrs in advance specially if you have kids Posted on September 1, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Argh!! Was writing a detailed review and just as i was finishing, browser on my ipad crashed.
Short summary of original review below.
Affys used to be great but now really is bad.
Prices have gone up, food quality and service are way down.
Servers are mosly students who dont know what they are doing and cant get orders write.
Kitchen cant cook food properly. -- sent us undercooked (pink) chicken which had to be sent back
Plates arrive with various delays. We were party of 6 and last plate arrived 20 or so minutes after first.
For the price -- e.g. $27 for ribs etc. -- overall service is horrible.
Last 3 times we went we had problems and aked ourselves why we dropped $100 there? This was definitely the last time. Sorry Aafy. You seem like a nice guy but the quality of your establishment is going downhill. If this were a non muslim place the customers would never go back but you seem to have a captive audience who dont know better. Their choice. I'm taking my busniesss elsewhere. ★☆☆☆☆ Booked for party of 9 a day before. Got to the restaurant 15 mins before the booked time. Was told the table was getting prepared. Waited outside in the cold. Went back in at the said time. Waited in line were seated. 15-20 waited to be brought water. When asked for water was told we they will come back to get the order!!?? Were waiting for 2 people to show up. Were told that we had to hurry and order as the table was booked for 8 oclock. WE JUST GOT THERE!!! All this before the water was served. Had to request if we could order appetizers. WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE ORDER ,OF THE 2 PEOPLE ON THEIR WAY TO THE RESTAURANT, OVER THE PHONE! Suggested that the waiter take the order of the people seated, at least. After the order was taken, was told that the people had to hurry as the table was booked. All this before 6:30 THE WAITER WAS VERY HELPFUL AND VERY APOLOGETIC. The line "Don't shoot the messenger" comes to mind. Was only doing what he was told. DEFINATELY NOT GOING TO THE RESTAURANT AGAIN. Food was mediocre. Have had their steaks the last time and they were superb. OVER ALL BEHAVIOUR OF THE RESTAURANT WAS BELOW PAR. Have been to Affy's restaurant before BUT this time definatly disappointed us. Most Family members treked in frin Mississauga. Tha'st a long way off to be treated like second class. Will suggest to friends and family the same thing. Thank goodness for a variety of halal restaurant in the GTA! Posted on February 19, 2013 |

★★★★☆ We had a reunion dinner here of over 50 people. They accommodated us very well and got our orders right. Big portions of each dish. Pricing is of course a little on the high side, but the food is great as Chef Afzal (aka Affy's) puts a lot of his love and skill into each entree. The place was of course packed to the brim, but the workers did their job very well. As long as you make a reservation, come on time and not delay when they come by to take your order, you will be fine or else, yeah, the wait times can be a little frustrating. Thats why its good to go with someone you can conversate with to pass the time. Washrooms could be a little cleaner, but the place is crazy packed to ensure it is up to standards all of the time. Prayer spot in the side hall is a nice touch as well. Posted on January 16, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ The food is great but the cost is over-priced and terrible customer service. We had to wait good 20 mins at the door so that one of the waiter can direct us to a spot. They are not polite whatsoever, I am definitely not going back! Posted on December 20, 2012 |

★★★★★ Affy's is a powerhouse in the halal restaurant industry in the GTA. The place is packed every weekend and has developed many loyalists who come back for more. I am a regular at Affy's because the food will always hit the spot. The portions are good in size and they have free refills on pop if you ask.
Some favourites I like are the lemon herb chicken, crispy onion cheeseburger and texas chicken friend sandwich. Posted on November 30, 2012 |

|
★★★☆☆ For a pleasant experience, stick to the ribs or prime rib if it's available. Chilli nachos are great. Texas chicken sandwich is overrated, burgers are ok, pasta... needs improvement. The thing that Affys needs to realize is that people want quality, and not just halal steak or halal pasta -- we need the halal alternative with the exceptional quality. I hope they improve. ★★★★★ I live walking distance from Affy's and have been there more times than I can remember, mostly for take-out but also for dine-in. Having tried most of the items of the menu I'd say the quality of the food is above average and consistent. I have loved almost everything I've gotten on the menu and the portions are always a bit too much for an average-sized guy like me. The only thing that frustrates me about Affys is when it's busy and I'm dining in with friends. I respect the restaurant for maintaining quality-of-service and limiting how many guests they can accomodate at once, but they really should make it clear on the website that reservations are virtually required for evenings/weekends. I know this since I'm a regular, but it's painful to see people turned away after a long drive. The service can become hard to identify in a packed restaurant, and makes you think they could use an extra hand to check up on the tables that have already received the food for refills, etc. Otherwise the staff is usually patient and friendly, and little things like free additional sauce are nice when other restaurants charge 50 cents or whatever.
It's hard to pick out my favourite items, but for appetizers I will say I LOVE the stuffed jalapeno (very spicy for some though).. for a take-out item I usually get the crispy onion and cheese burger, and of course the cajun-stuffed chicken is what everyone gets because it never misses. If you wanna try something different, go for the jalapeno steak penne or lemon pepper filet of sole. It's one of those restaurants where I'm comfortable trying new things because I know the chef wouldn't put it out unless it meets a high standard.
Overall one of the best halal restaurants in the GTA. Just make sure you have reservations. :)
P.S. Zabihah.com lists opening time as 12pm but this is only on weekdays, on weekends it opens at 4pm. Posted on November 3, 2012 |

Service - 2/5
Price - 3/5
Overall not a good experience...me and my wife ordered a fillet minion and chicken parm and where not satisfied at all...fillet(medium well) was all pink which it should not be and chicken parm too saucy and not enough cheese...would not return unless were offered free gas to drive back Posted on October 4, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ We made a reservation on a Friday night for 7:15, and ended up reaching there at exactly 7:30 (we were coming from Mississague, across town, and traffic on a Friday night was insane). So we get there, tell them we had reservations for 7:15, and the hostess goes, "oh we have a reservation policy of 15 minutes, and we had to give your table away.". I'm thinking, what??? it's just 7:30 now, which is exactly 15 minutes. When did they give the reservation away? She then makes us wait at a table by her until we get a free table (on the other side of the restaurant). Anyways, the other hostess thinks that we are actually going to sit at this current table and brings out the menus. We tell her that we're just waiting for our table since our reservations were taken. Well then she quickly checks and comes back and says there is a table for you. WTH. So odd. So we get to the other side of the restaurant (which is blocked off at the entrance by a wall, and it's all empty! I swear, there must have been 2-3 tables out of the 20 or so that were not being used. And they wouldn't even let us sit in a booth because she it's for more than 2 people. My gosh. The entire time we were there, the place was empty on this side. Posted on May 22, 2012 |

NR Not ever going back there, I didn't know you have to have a reservation on weekends, I drove all the way from Brampton to Pickering with a friend and was told by the owner himself that you have to have a reservation. I said I drove 1hr for this restaurant could you please squeeze us in and that I didn't know we had to reserve seats, he says he wasn't able to give my friend and I a table. Again there were only two of us. No rating for this Restaurant as it's a ZERO Posted on March 16, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ there are a few items there that are pretty good. the main reson Affy's is soo hyped up is because there isn't much competition for it. it's fine to eat here once in a while, but if you're dining with family then it's much too expensive! although the serving sizes are small, your stomach gets filled up quickly because the food is very heavy. ★★★★☆ Went for the first time today. Made a reservation as people mentioned and yet still had to wait 25minutes for a table, even though there were atleast 10 tables free. Service extremely slow although attitude of the servers were good. I went in the late afternoon. Food was great, enjoyed the pasta and ribs. I would go again, however management needs more staff and better organization, they were turning people away even though many tables free. Posted on February 20, 2012 |

★★★★★ I booked a reservation for 15 people on a Saturday evening at 8:30 2 days before the event. The individual I spoke with indicated they were full however they'll try to squeeze us in.
When we arrived the place was packed, however the welcome waiter told us that our table would be ready shortly; there was a party on the table that was just finishing paying.
We provided 2 birthday cakes for the waiters to look after. The brought both out at the time we wanted and provided utensils and plates with no problems.
Overall the service was excellent, given the size of our group and the demands of each customer I found the staff to be incredibly accommodating and friendly.
The food was excellent, everyone got their food exactly as they asked. The recommendations that our waiter had given were appreciated by each person.
I ordered the ribs and they were phenomenal! I'm going back just for that. The prices were excellent, I've been to many Grills and these guys had their price points set perfectly. They obviously know what they are doing.
My only complaint is that they aren't located on the west end of T. It's a long drive to Pickering; but we'll definitely be making it again (and soon).
Thanks to all the staff who made my wife's b-day celebration as great as it was. Posted on December 6, 2011 |

NR Weak! 1st trip there the steak sandwich came on a hotdog bun, next time asked for a med steak, waiter came and told me legally they could only serve it well done??? Only to have it come out 30 seconds after, think it was already cooked? Was dry!!!!! Lastly the ribs, the ooooh so talked about ribs, I think it came off a seal, it had a bad smell and didn't do it for me no matter how much I tried to drown it in steak sauce after. I spent that dinner trying to pond off the meat on other plates for their fries :( So funny thing, i thought its not my cup of tea, I'm done with it, but got caught in one of those situations where I had no choice and it was take out, I ordered a chicken salad off the menu, and they said its not worth the time to cook it. Thank god for me and my pack of gum. Not a fan!!!! Posted on November 14, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ I went here with a bunch of friends once on a weekend and once for lunch on a weekday. The place was jammed packed during the weekend, so we were glad we made a reservation. Why it was jammed packed is beyond me. The food isn't that impressive. I ordered their peppercorn steak for my first visit medium well ... got it totally charred. Plus the service was slow. But since it was so packed we decided to make another trip during a weekday for lunch. Same lousy service. I ordered a pasta this time which was much better than the steak I had. My friend ordered a steak which showed up over cooked and charred even though she ordered a medium cooked steak. My other friend liked the fajitas he ordered. But no one was impressed with their steaks. So I do not know why people rave so much about them. And they forget the drinks and salads. Its an average place to eat pastas and other entres but their steaks are not worth it. This italian place in vaughan ( as expensive as affys) does a better job with their food. They really need to amp up their service Posted on September 21, 2011 |

★★★★★ What I don't understand are the people who say the steaks are not cooked properly, when you ask for medium rare or rare, or even medium steaks will be less cooked, that's the choice you made, so how is it the restaurants fault? Don't complain about the food not being cooked full when you make the request for it not to be cooked full. Overall the staff was friendly, food was great, and the prices are very fair compared to regular steak houses Posted on August 26, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ The food is good. Especially their steaks are thick and juicy, but the service and wait needs work. Posted on June 9, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ I have never found the food to be not cooked properly, it has always tasted great, including pasta, stake and even dessert.
Their service definitely needs some work. Sometimes they forget your drink, sometimes the salad. They dont have a habit of checking up on you, even on a slow day.
Would still go back for the steak. Posted on June 9, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ I've been to Affy's many times since 2009, until recently. They are inconsistent with their food and service. You never know if you're going to leave happy or not. The last few times, I left very unhappy. They are too busy and cannot keep up with the demand, so service will be slow, and you will not get the attention you need. The food will be overcooked, or burnt, or not that impressive at all. I've decided to stop going to Affy's altogether. I may give it another chance in the future, but as of now, they have lost my business. Posted on April 6, 2011 |

★★★★★ Amazing food and even better service! I have tried all their pastas and each one of them is amazing. Haven't tried their steak yet but would love to once i get tired of the pasta!! Their service is excellent - quick and responsive. The decor is nice and the booths are excellent because they provide a little bit of privacy. I would only recommend that they take out that table which is placed right infront of the reception desk. Its kind of an awkward place.
Otherwise its a great restaurant overall! I visit this place two to three times a month and would recommend it to everyone Posted on March 2, 2011 |

★★★★★ I highly recommend this place it has food that are different and away from the same old biryani tikka boti roti you get what i`m saying..... I had my mamu valima at affys and a eid party i wouldn`t recommend that just because that food doens`t taste the same when its made in large quantity but serivce and staff at that type of event are still great I really like this place and eat here a least once two to three times a month Posted on December 24, 2010 |

★★★★★ ok really why do so many people have to hate on this place ??? how many other halal places have such nice steaks and drinks and wonderful desserts ok so the peppercorn gravy is awful and found on most of the menu items but the rest of the food makes up for that Posted on August 22, 2010 |

★★★★★ This place is always packed and the reason is their delicious steaks, nice decor and friendly service. Its a different type of restaurant where you will find unique halal dishes. I also agree, try the desserts which are all mouthwatering. Affy's is a must visit! Posted on August 5, 2010 |

★★★★★ Assalam alaikum, my wife heard about Affy's from one of her patients. The feedback was that if you wanted to enjoy ribs, steak, and many other fine pleasures that you don't find in a halal restaurant (in North America) that Affy's was the place to go.
And, Affy's didn't disappoint. If there were a 10 star selection to rate this place, I would have chosen it. We went with a party of 10 including 4 children. The decor is very friendly and welcoming. The service was very good. We made reservations, so there was no wait time.
For children, the portions are large and very reasonable priced.
With 6 adults we tried a variety of items from the menu. For appetizers we had the chicken cheese quesadillas and fire roasted jalapeno peppers. Both we very tasty. As a main course, both my wife and I had the mango jalpeno grilled chicken and shrimp. This was absolutely fantastically delicious. Other family members had the BBQ beef back ribs, Affy's classic New York strip steak, and Chicken Fajitas. And these were all equally well received. For dessert, we had coffee and tiramisu cake. The portion was large very tasty and reasonably priced.
Overall, in terms of pricing, Affy's is very reasonable for the overall quality of food and service. I am eagerly looking forward to our next visit and to try some of the other items on their menu.
Toronto and the GTA has been lacking in this type of restaurant. I'm grateful for this brother for providing us his fine foods. I only wish that I didn't live so far away in the west end of Toronto. Posted on July 10, 2010 |

★★☆☆☆ This place came highly recommended by family, but our visit there goes to prove "different strokes for different folks". We took my wife and mom there for Mother's Day and were greeted by very cramped table set-up (where is the city health authority when you need it) and an endless wait at our table for menus. Yes, you read that right, for menus. The tables were strewn with plenty of utensils... nearly a hundred forks all over the place, and nothing else, and not even in a proper table setting. Just a ton of forks hanging out at the table. My kids got to work quick on making use of these so-called toys. The menu was quite decent though and reasonably priced, other than the drinks, but that's a small hiccup.
I ordered the Cajun Chicken Breast dish along with several other family members, as it came highly recommended. Oops. While others may like it, I found the dish to be too large a mish-mash of many competing flavours, and also far too heavy to finish. I'm not going to be going back to Affy's any time in the near future. Posted on May 23, 2010 |

★★★★☆ Highly recommended if you enjoy steak. However the gravy is a bit bland. A little on the pricey side for what you get. The service is a bit slow, but the chef & owner is a very nice man. Leave room for desert! Chocolate mousse and Apple Crumble & Ice cream sizzler... mmmmh. Posted on May 6, 2010 |

★★★★★ Best Halal Steak house in GTA, period. We were going there at least once a month from work, was quite a drive, now they don't open at lunch, boohoohoo. Nonetheless, if Steak's you want, this is the place to go. Fillet Mignon is amazing, albeit small portion and high price. Would love to see larger steak and a smaller bill :) Wouldn't we all. ★★☆☆☆ Food: wasn't that great, steak was good but the seasonal vegetables seemed like it was the frozen stuff you get at your grocery store - then ones you just steam and serve.
Service: the manager in the front who gives you a table was a really nice lady and very friendly and so was the owner, but the servers have no customer service skills at all! They're these young kids who were talking aloud about their tips for the evening, and chatting amongst eachother instead of attending to the customers; it took us a while to get their attention when we needed refills for our water. Our waitress asked us if she could bring us the bill just 10 minutes after she served us our dinner! Very unprofessional.
Overall: this restaurant is just hyped up, we had a long wait for a table but it was definitely not worth it. Once other halal steak houses start opening up in Toronto, I doubt people will be excited about Affy's unless they pay more attention to their service and offerings. Posted on December 16, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I'm an honest-to-God burger connoisseur and take gourmet burgers very seriously. After a quick browse over the menu of 3 different burgers priced at $8-10 on their website, I knew I was looking at an opportunity to do it Halal and not feel the guilt of messing up my body with the heavy stress hormone (cortisol) filled non-zabihah garbage. The crispy onion burger came with a side of fries. Amazingly, anything that came off of the vat was delicious. Fresh, crispy, and flavorful. I wasn't sure if it's just sunflower oil that they mix in or something else, but there was a slight nuttiness to it that made it delicious. It was the grill work that surprised me. As far as the burger, it was substandard. It was overcooked, arid, rubbery, and had an off white inner color which indicates a fatty, low quality meat. I immediately called the waiter and showed him that. I also showed him how all the jalapeno pieces in the burger were tips or tops of the peppers, which seemed either intentional or bad timing that I ended up with the final things in their toppings tray. The waiter mentioned that Affy was out of town on holiday and that a stand-in chef was in his place. The chef's explanation was that it was "well done" and that's why there was no juice left in it. I asked him to not flip the next burger more than once until the first side was to par, and to do it "medium" then. He took my advice and it came back as I thought it would. Somewhat a "medium well done" with some juiciness in the meat though the texture was still blocky. It was much better this time around although it still cannot match the standard of an above average gourmet burger in mainstream venues. The meat was not seasoned but the cheese was melted well, and the fixings were still fresh and cold. Brothers, there is a huge vacuum in the market for a halal gourmet burger place in town. I did try my wife's chicken breast dish, and it was really good, like that of a fancy grill restaurant. All in all, still the best we can do! So 4 stars. Posted on December 10, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ We had only a few adults and a couple of little kids in our party, but it took over an hour for us get our food from when we first ordered it. We were ignored by the forgetful, high-school aged waitress time after time because she was too busy talking with her friends. There was apparently only ONE chef on a sunday night and the bar tender made our drinks after we were half way done with our food. The stuffed chicken was the only pleasant memory of the night. At least the chef came out and apologized at the end and offered us free dessert. Posted on November 29, 2009 |

★★★★★ Great place! I have been to Affy's twice now and I am starting like it more and more everytime I go. The staff is pleasant...although a little slow throughout their busy times. The chef is very friendly and the food is amazing. Definitely one of the best halal restaurants in Ontario. Posted on October 5, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ I have been to Affy's several times in the last year with my family and friends. Always like their food and recommend the resturant to others. Service is always slow but at the end the food compensates it.
However, the last couple of visits, the service has degraded a lot. Like last time I had to go to the counter atleast a couple of times as the waitress forgot about my order. Also I got very upset when my wife checked the bill and found out about $41 discrepancy. Actually the waitress charged me $21.50 for tips and also she kept $10 tip. She did not even mentioned once that she already charged us for the tip. Then there was a
$10 charged with no explanation. I was surprised as I never check my billl.
Overall, the food is great, but the service needs considerable improvement-the staff needs to be more courteous and the service needs to be faster than what it currently is. Their poor service has been a great factor in making us avoid that restaurant all together! Posted on September 22, 2009 |

★★★★★ Absolutely THE BEST HALAL RESTAURANT IN NORTH AMERICA!!! The serving time was on par with any upscale restaurant that you will ever go to. The service was exceptional and the only thing better was the food. We were a group of 8 and everyone’s food was incredible!!! Once we were done, we asked to speak to the chef who was gracious and very humble; he thanked us for our feedback with a smile. We actually suggested a second location to which he replied that he does his best to oversee full operations and that would spread him too thin. Anyone that has complained or provided negative feedback are way off base. I have referred at least 20 people here and they have all said the same thing:
No other restaurant in North America can even compare!!! Posted on June 30, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I have been there few times, the New York strip steak is really good and so it the burger. The service and surroundings is perfect. They have a good menu and price is reasonable and in par with other restaurants. The only comment regarding food is they need change the fries, they are not real potatoes .. so order mash potatoes instead. I will be going often. Posted on June 18, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ Been to this restaurant a couple of times. The food is what takes me there. Food is good!good!good!Fast food is decently priced however the speciality items are priced way through the roof. The service is poor!poor!poor! and if it gets busy then Wait times is poor!poor!poor! The chef cooks well but the staff needs coaching on hospitality. I would prefer to take-out rather than wait for the hopes of my food to arrive. Posted on April 3, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ I finally went to this place after almost a year of waiting. Maybe my expectations were too high but I thought everything was average. The prices were very high for a halal joint and it really didnt warranty it. The food was above average, service wasnt great and above all there was no wow factor. I might try it again but would definitely think twice. Posted on March 30, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ Based on the experience my friends and I had, the food at this place is atrocious. We had fried calamari (not good), chicken quesadillas (this was good), stuffed jalapeno (not good), new york strip, fillet mignon, and pasta with chicken. First of all, the steak was horrible. it so was above and beyond tasteless, and it was incredibly chewy, despite the fact it was supposedly cooked medium. My friends ordered the fillet mignon, and they were so astonished at what they eat, considering it was for $25. The rice was ridiculously undercooked. Nobody liked what they had, i mean nobody. We were extremely disappointed, because the menu looked so good. The drinks were also really expensive. C'mon, $5 for a pina colada drink? thats absurdly high. Suffice to say, i will never be going there again and i wil tell others to do so as well. I don't know why so many like his food? I mean its clearly horrible !!! I wonder if the peoples standard on this website are so low that as soon as there is any halal place that serves western cuisine, majority of the people throw their hands up in utter ecstasy. Taking advice from this website, i went to Moe's Southwest Grill and it was equally disappointing. I sometimes don't know, whether if i should be taking advice from the users of this site or not. Brothers and Sisters out there, Be very cautious when reading the users reviews on this site...except mine ; )....its the truth !!! Posted on March 7, 2009 |

★★★★☆ Dont expect it to be a desi restaurant where you get tons of food for $9.99. The Chef is authentic and so is food (Fillet Mignon - the ultimate) probably you will not get this quality of this category of food in this price. Ensure you RESERVE your place unless you want to watch family tv in their lounge for 45 mts to 1.5 hours. Apple Crumble actually comes in sizzling skillet with icecream on top so sizzle yourself Posted on March 2, 2009 |

★★★★★ The pricing varies from reasonable to a bit over the top.
My friend ordered a steak that cost like 18.00 and it was the size of ur palm, way too small.
I've had the lemon chicken breast, which was excellent!!! I crave it often. They also have mexican dishes.
The waitresses are nice, and they give salsa and chips as free appetizers. Affy's also has virgin daiquiris which is cool and pretty tasty.
They have a really great menu. I recommend it for sure. Posted on January 26, 2009 |

★★★★★ Best halal North American cuisine in town, Very impressed with the food. Everyone who has issuses with the space being small, well it's been expanded already and will be opening InshaAllah Jan 2009. They also serve vegetarian food tailored to your preferences. Chef Afzal Bhatti has certainly exceeded everyone's expectations. Posted on December 24, 2008 |

★★★★★ I don't know what all these people are complaining about, Affy's is the greatest. Good service and good food. Pricey? You are not ordering shawarmas, you are ordering steak! Of course it's going to be more than four or five dollars! Just because it's halaal doesn't mean it'll be cheap.
And if you don't like the type of food this place serves up (steak, pastas, gourmet sandwiches, etc.) please stick to your shawarmas and butter chicken instead of hating. Posted on December 2, 2008 |

★★★☆☆ First time I went there with my wife, we were asked to come back at 4 PM to a closed restaurant by the daughter/waitress.
2nd time I went there: The food was great for the price. - 8/10
The service is very slow because of one chef and no sue chef to speed it up. Allow yourself 1 hour buffer time for them to catch up to your demands. 2/10
The atmosphere ambiance is a bit conjusted and 'in your face' as soon as you step in apart from restaurants that have a buffer between people eating and reception. Everyone looks at you as if you're entering on a stage. Find your own seat because the 3 waitresses are too busy operating the cash. No sense of responsibilities are allocated. 2/10
There is only one waitress there who is competent and actually smiles and checks on you while the rest are headless chicken running around. If you encounter a West Indian waitress there, she's the one who's always on the ball. The rest are slow as molases. Make sure you tip her. 10/10
Third time, I went there (party of 2), we were asked to leave because of a reserved full house. Its disorganized. 1/10
Considering I use to go to Canyon Creek to pay for the same Aftab's halaal food (thank you for making it available), you would think he would pick up a few tips about how to deligate a restaurant but then again he's not a manager, he's a chef.
Overall . . . I support Muslim businesses anyday :-) Keep up the good work Affy staff . . . just need a few adjustments. I will revisit for support and improvement and the food!! :-) Posted on October 29, 2008 |

★★★★★ I am surprised to see any negative reviews about Affy's. I have been there 5 times and all of my firends and I LOVE it Masha Allah. The srevice sometimes borders on being a little slow, but the food has always been very good and never cold. The portion sizes are good. I know at least 15 people that eat here and they are all very satisfied. The only critisism I can offer is a few of the dishes are a bit too salty (like the stuffed cajun chicken). ★☆☆☆☆ I didn't have the greatest experience at Affys, in fact was very disappointed in the quality of food and poor service.
I have to agree with the previous poster about the Chef's behavior. I thought my feedback would be taken positively and be used to make this restaurant better, however, the 'hand waving' and 'thats how its done' attitude displayed by the chef/owner did not help in making our experience a bit better.
I'll wait to go somewhere else, not there anymore! Posted on September 15, 2008 |

★★☆☆☆ Honestly, I've eaten at better restaurants. This one has bad service but the waitresses were nice enough and helpful. The food was sent back twice, once because it was cold and again because it was undercooked and the vegetables were too, my mother took less than two bites and sent it back ruining her evening on top of which she was fasting and we were to pay for it as well. The chef came out and was BEYOND hostile and did not take our constructive criticism too well, the waitress tells us that she gets it often. *shakes head* Needless to say, I'm not going back there again and advice other to go with caution or don't go at all. ★★★★★ I just went to Affy's last night and I loved it! I agree that the service could be faster, but i guess thats expected when a restaurant is starting out. I've heard that this place hasnt even been open for a month now so i think we can cut them some slack.
as for the comparison with kara mia, while i think its a great restaurant with good food, the place is smaller and thus holds fewer people which means there are fewer people to serve. Also, its been open significantly longer. in the beginning they had their kinks as well :).
Besides the service-time, the service itself was really great. the servers came back to check on us periodically and the chef himself came out every so often to make sure that the guests were okay and the food was made to their liking - he cracked a few jokes as well..lol. I think thats pretty unique - especially for a halal restaurant.
in terms of the food I thought this place was phenomenal. I've been to almost every well-known halal restaurant in markham, scarborough, pickering and some in mississauga and i have to say the food here is definitely my favourite!
I had the stuffed chicken which came with two sides - it was phenomenal. and the portion sizes were more than sufficient. my sister couldnt even finish her food! :)
personally, i'd recommend it to everyone. When i got to the restaurant, there wasnt an empty seat in the house (on a thursday night).
Congrats Chef Afzal Posted on August 29, 2008 |

★★★★☆ I've been here twice so far and overall the food was very good. Had the top sirloin the first time I went, and it was PHENOMENAL. The burgers are a good value, they are very big, but they do lack a bit of flavour. The stuffed jalepeno peppers are excellent. I heard bad things about the service, but both times I went, it was in the day, so the service was prompt and courteous! Posted on August 13, 2008 |

★☆☆☆☆ I know food and have eatin at better restraunts, this was not one of them. There were only 2 waiters attending to everyone in the restraunt, after the girl took our order we waited 20 minutes before the appetizers came out and when our food came it was cold. First they charge an average of $15 for a dish (which is norm) but it only came with a small steak and a baked potato. If you go to non-halal restraunts you pay the same amount but get more stuff (wonder why people eat non-halal) - food wasnt good - it was 5 of us and 2 dishes were ok and the rest didnt even eat their food. this group came in who sat in the booth next to us, they got the appetizers before us (the lady working there knew them) but no one took their order and they had to call someone to come after 20 mins. Bad service, bad food. Im def. not going there again. Posted on August 11, 2008 |

★★★★☆ The food is excellent and I haven't eaten a steak like that in a while - Very tender, and cooked the way I like it. My only complaint would be that service is very slow and needs to improve. It took over 20 minutes just to get the menu, which is unreasonable especially when you've got hungry kids waiting. Posted on August 10, 2008 |

★☆☆☆☆ The food tastes horrible. Items are very expensive. NOT RECOMMENDED. Posted on August 5, 2008 |

★★★★☆ The food here is definately not terrible. I would say some items are really good, and some are just ok. The new york striploin steak is awesome, the rest of the steaks are just ok. The burgers were quite dry inside, but theres some gravy on the side you can dip it in to get it a bit more juicier. Side dishes are simple items you can just cook at home, there's nothing special about them. I was just expecting a bit more considering we have a quality chef here.
The service here I would say is friendly, but they really gotta get their act together. I've only been on the weekends, and its been moderately busy. There's quite a bit of people working in here which makes you wonder why the service couldn't be a bit more prompt. For example a place like Kara Mia, there's usually only one waiteress, and she does a fabulous job running around and limiting the wait time for people to order and pay. At Affy's Grill, even with the 2-3 waitresses they have, you're always having to wait quite a bit.
Price wise, I would say this place is kinda high, even compared to Kara Mia.
Overall it's a great new halal joint where you can have steaks which you won't find anywhere else (other than Kara Mia). Still though, I was expecting a bit more. Posted on August 5, 2008 |
