Halal Jones Fried Chicken |
|
6633 Fondren Road, Houston, TX 77036
Drive through open late. Halal Jones is a New York style halal eatery. Founded by two former New Yorkers, Halal Jones serves up its food in the style of New York City's 'Halal Guys' and focuses on healthy, grilled dishes despite the "fried chicken" in its name. Add that with super clean meat cut in the halal tradition, and you've got amazing New York food at Houston prices! Added on January 1, 2012 and last updated 11 years ago

★★★★★ Great food, nice service. Posted on November 21, 2017 |

★☆☆☆☆ Worst fried chicken I had in my life. Posted on May 10, 2017 |

★★★★★ Love this place, have tried chicken, beef, kofta, and lamb over rice, and the chicken tenders.
All taste really nice and usually turnaround time is quick unless the place is really packed.
Better to take-out instead, which is what I do. Posted on November 16, 2016 |

★★★★☆ Really good food, but the guy's working there are complete knuckleheads. I had to explain a fork to the guy working there (is that really necessary?) the restaurant itself isn't the most family looking restaurant out there, but most people can find that it isn't the worst place in terms of food. ★☆☆☆☆ Im so sorry to bring my kids there, the place is so filthy, cashier was rude. I dont know what they meant by halal food, is it everything but not ham ? or is slughtered in the name of Allah !! Posted on August 1, 2014 |

★★★★★ Loved it. Have been there twice, ordered the chicken and rice plate, spicy chicken and rice plate, lamb and rice plate and wings. Very reasonable prices as well. I met the owner once and he was very nice, but the other cashiers aren't that nice. They need to improve on that. Posted on May 6, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ I used to frequent this establishment but recently the service has gotten very bad. The food still taste good but my orders are have been messed up or I'm over charged. And the cashiers have been rude. I hope this place get it back together like it used to. Posted on March 9, 2014 |

★★★★☆ When I first moved to Houston from NYC, I swore I'd never try their chicken and rice because it just couldn't be the same. Then the craving hit me and I realized I couldn't have any chicken and rice until Thanksgiving so I sucked it up and tried it. I was right, it's not the same, but it's still pretty good. 53rd and 6th are pretty big shoes to fill so even if you fall a little short, it's not that bad. I actually really like their chicken tenders and their french fries. The tenders and plump, meaty and juicy and seasoned just right. They put some kind of seasoning on the french fries that takes it up a notch. The philly cheesesteak is about average, not bad. I didn't love the chicken sandwich, the chicken patty was a bit too flat. All in all I do like the food. Posted on October 2, 2013 |

★★★★★ I usually stop by every week or so for a to go order. Staff is very friendly and polite. Food takes me back to Chicago/NYC stule joints. Has decent seating arrangment but place looks a bit gungy from the inside. Posted on July 26, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ This place is excellent in terms of food. IT IS NOT like 53rd and 6th platters but it is still great tasting in its own way. Chicken is flavorful and so is the gyro. The white sauce is also pretty good. We had a chicken and rice platter and a lamb and rice platter. Both were really well spiced and delicious. I really liked their spicy rice, just enough spice. I wish they would put the soft naan on top like 53rd and 6th, that would make the food amazing! NOW, I would recommend that you do NOT eat inside the place. It is very dirty and full of smoke. My clothes stunk so bad when I left! Also, the staff is very disorganized and chaotic. They got our order wrong the first time and I saw them do it to other customers as well. Overall, food is great (it deserves five out of five), GO TO DRIVE THRU - staff and restaurant needs a LOT of work. I'm giving 2 starts for the management and staff Posted on January 21, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ The food is not as great as people say.
Tried most things on the menu-everything ive tried was a fail. The chili dog is gross, the chili and cheese fries are also nasty, and the lamb over rice was a salty mess.
Not recommended and also this place is pricey for the type of food.
Place is big to sit and hang with family though! Posted on May 10, 2012 |

★★★★★ I heard about Jones Fired Chicken from another brother and decided to go check it out with my wife after Jumah prayer. Everything looks delicious and I wanted all of it, but realistically I had to settle for just one meal. I chose the Falafel pita sandwich, and my wife had the cheeseburger w/fries. We shared and we really enjoyed both meals. I personally think the Falafel pita was a gift from Allah.
The brothers and sisters that work there were none less than awesome, and I will be giving them my business again very soon insha'Allah. Posted on April 9, 2012 |

★★★★★ This is straight up NYC cart food, the only thing Houston's been missing. Ive had chicken and rice platters from the two best carts in NYC and have to say this is up there with them, get it spicy with with lots of white sauce! The fried chicken wings are good too so is the burger, looking forward to trying the other items but seeing as I've tried every item from NYC carts I expect all of them to be good as well. These brothers are really nice and we need to keep giving them our business. Need more places like this. Posted on February 7, 2012 |
