★★★★☆ We tried Chicken taouk and Chicken tikka (both were very good). Also tried Chicken Sumac. It was ok (it could have more flavor and skin removed). One minus was it is byob. I was happy with carryout. Posted on April 21, 2018 |

★★★★★ I was here in April 2015, the two brothers seem to have Middle Eastern origin, younger was named Zakariya (goes by Zak), they claim on their website (http://www.gingercafecc.com) that meat items are Halal/Zabiha. We had a few chicken items, they were great. I had the Filet Mignon steak, it was great as well. Their customers seem to be mostly Americans, most of whom had brought their own Alcohol and the restaurant served it to them. Yes, this is a BYOB ('Bring Your Own Beer'), see reviews at Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ginger-cafe-and-grill-corpus-christi) and that seemed to be one main factor that this is popular amongst folks who consume alcohol, beside taste and quality of food - which was pretty good. I ordered Chicken Shawarma for take out, that was great in taste but was not actual shawarma :) Yes, we know what Shawarma is, have lived in Middle Eastern countries > 15 years or so. All in all, a great place to eat (if you're OK with alcohol being served at the premises), Awesome service! which lacks in most restaurants of desi and Mediterranean origin. I'd go again.
