★★★★★ We stopped here for dinner on a recent visit to San Antonio. The food was amazing. I had the Kabuli pilao and my husband had the some kabobs. Both of us loved our food and the portions were quite generous. The owner was also kind enough to give our 2 year old a bowl of raisins and nuts when she insisted she "wanted nuts". The restaurant was clean, and we felt the blues, yellows and orange colors used in the decor was very calming. Would definitely return here! Posted on April 30, 2015 |

★★★☆☆ I came here with group of family & friends. We ordered combination Kabab & Kabuli Palaw but felt rice quantity was less & had to order extra kabuli rice separately for 7$. No doubt, food was delicious but it's a bit pricey. Wanted to try Afghan food & so came over here. Ambiance was good & service was quick but not satisfied with it's high price. Won't come here again with family for sure. Posted on January 7, 2018 |

★★★★★ WOW! Food was so good. We went late one evening and got the order to go, food was ready on time and great service. Amazing meat dishes and the rice alone was so good. We went here cautiously as did not know what to expect with afghan food. But now regret getting a takeout, we should have dined in and told the owner how amazing the food was.
Kids loved it too. Posted on August 13, 2014 |

★★★★★ Fresh and tasty food. Awesome service. Owner took pride in his food and establishment. He took care of all the customers there and made sure they got everything to their liking. The rice was awesome. The kabobs were tasty. just dont order chicken nuggets. That's not what they are known for and tasted a lot like out of a box. But we will most definitely return! ★★★★★ Awesome people. Originally from Northeast so expect northeast quality and most important of all, white sauce!! But you have to specially request it. Chicken and beef kebabs were awesome. The lamb chops were so so. Posted on June 3, 2014 |

★★★★★ I have visited the restaurant twice in the past week and I highly recommend it and regard it as one of the better Middle Eastern restaurants in San Antonio. As one reviewer previously commented, the cuisine was previously Moroccan and is now Afghan. I never visited the place when it was Moroccan but on my last visit I met the new husband/wife owners and cook and they are very hospitable, warm, attentive to customers and so eager to please.
On my first visit, I had that day's special which was deliciously simple and tasty. I can't recall the name of the dish but it was basically a lamb/rice plate. The generous portion of lamb was cooked excellently over some of the best prepared rice I have ever had. The long-grain rice had the perfect balance of different spices topped off with a bit of carrot and raisins. Nothing overpowering. I requested a spicy sauce and the owner brought me a cilantro/vinegar/mint and green pepper sauce that paired very well with the lamb. The green sauce was amazing. Ask for it. Oh and for appetizer I had their dumpling/ravioli type dish which was also treated with a delicate balance of spices and a yogurt sauce. I absolutely loved it. From their deserts, I had the excellent coconut cake which was moist, not too sweet with a creamy coconut/yogurt type topping covering the cake. This was great with the mint tea which you must request.
On my second visit, I took my girlfriend and she absolutely enjoyed it. We arrived starving and thankfully the owner immediately brought out the included appetizer (bread/feta/mint). Their bread is great with the perfect subtle hint of cheese. We still ordered the same appetizer I previously tried because it was that good! I ordered the kebab combination plate, which included an array of meats differently prepared, all lamb I believe as well as chicken over delicious rice. The meat was grilled excellently once again and of course I requested the green cilantro/mint sauce that has just the right amount of whatever green pepper. Not too/under spicy. Great with the lamb. Perfect. My girlfriend ordered an eggplant dish with a subtle addition of tomatoes and this was some of the best prepared eggplant I've tasted that was even better over the rice. She loved it too. I have had variations of this dish throughout my travels but this was near perfection because it was not overwhelmed with tomato.
For desert, again the mint tea along with their home-made ice-cream that sits on a bed of perfectly crushed ice with a nice amount of rosewater flavoring poured over. We loved it. Had some baklava to go (on the house!) and it was great too.
Again, the service was fantastic I must say. The restaurant was tidy and if you want an even more relaxing experience, the raised platform has plenty of comfy carpets and pillows for you to lounge about during your meal. Great food! Posted on May 28, 2014 |

★★★★★ Really impressed by the authenticity of Azro. They rival New York/New Jersey quality Afghani food. We had the Kabli Pilau (with lamb shank) and the Roast Chicken with Kabli Pilau. They were cooked very well, the flavor was throughout the meat. We also had Mantu and Sambosa. Their white sauce and green sauce were on point! Will definitely return. Totally worth the price for the amount of meat and serving size. Decor is really nice, and presentation is lovely. Staff is really friendly. Posted on May 4, 2014 |
