The owners are Muslim and have confirmed its halal status. All food at this restaurant is certified halal.
Relocated to a new address in 2012. Sameem Afghan Restaurant is the first and, for the time being, only Afghan restaurant in the entire state of Missouri. Predominantly serving traditional Afghan cuisine consisting of lamb, chicken and hearty stews, kabobs, chops and rice dishes, Sameem also caters to the vegetarian population, offering a number of tasty pastas and vegetarian entrees. Alcohol is absolutely not served on premises.

This was our favorite halal restaurant in St Louis! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The price was very reasonable. No idea why any other reviewers are complaining. We were treated very well. I've been to many afghan restaurants in different states and definitely recommend this one!
Tasteless food
Visited the place today. Excellent food and menu. Taste was too good.
Food is good but the second are small and on a higher end of the pricing
Turtles can serve faster. Left without eating. Extremely slow
Great restaurant n staffs! The recommendation food is really good!
small restaurant in the middle of tower grove with excellent food. highly recommend the beef kabobs, chicken soltani, and chicken curry. very nice owners
It is tooooo delicious
It is a small place and dining tables are so close to each other. When I was there with my family, we had to listen all the people's chatting who sat in the next table. But the food was delicious and the service was also above expectation.
The food was excellent. The portions are good. The dining area is clean. Parking is by meter.
Very good food. Restaurant sitting area is small. I mostly get take out. I have tried many dishes and they taste good. Muslim owner and all food is halal. He does catering as well. Definetly return here.
The food was ok and I felt the restaurant was somewhat short-staffed on a weekend night.
Good food. Most entrees 12-15$. Is located in a so-so neighborhood. Parking is paid metered parking.
MashAllah Muslim owners. Authentic Afghani soup was delicious. Also try their chicken tikka a nice blend of flavors bursting in your mouth. Went for lunch and was packed with people. Will definitely come again in my next trip to St Louis. Met both owners very nice Muslim brothers.
This place was sold to the owners of al-Waha and is now in West County. The food was very good but too much alcohol which are both academic at this point.
i love the food and the restaurant environment. however the location of the restaurant is a little unsafe, especially at night. during the day its fine, but its St. Louis, what do you expect!
food tastes OK,server was not rude, portion was relatively small for the price they charge.
Their food is very expensive. Small portion. Rude service if you are a Muslim, good service if you are a white guy ordering wine. I do not like the people who run this place, rumor has it they have belly dancers, not sure if true.
Good food, pricey for the small portions served. Decent location on Grand Avenue and neat dine in atmosphere.
This place is NOT 100% Zabihah Halal. They get their meat from Star Packing company, that sells both Zabihah and non-Zabihah. The owners admited that most of the time (but not all the time) they get Zabihah meat from Star Pack.
The meat & chicken are halal but the presence of alcohol is too strong. The portions are too small and the price is really expensive. I only recommend catering from this restaurant.
