Beautiful Masjid. Clean and well maintained. I stopped here for Asr on a weekday and the few musallees who were there were very friendly.
Mashallah, my heart just melted when i entered this mosque, it is clean, spacious, and very well kept. There's parking on the side, and i loved the sense of peace and tranquility it gave me *Alhamdulillah*. The women section is behind the curtain and spacious as well, the sinks and wudu area for women was very clean and equipped w scarves and slippers for those who didnt bring it, also has a filtered water to drink as well.
This is the only masjid I have felt at home with. I have never been during a khutbah, but I do always stop by on my vacations to Chicago, IL to just relax, pray, and focus on Allah. It's very clean, and the women's wudu area is EXCELLENT! I like how the women's area is behind a curtain, so I can be covered if I need to, or I can peek around it to find my husband if need be. I don't feel excluded. I could not find a library on the premises though, but the architecture is quite beautiful.
Good mosque, khateeb is powerful. minarets - heard it was funded by Muhammed Ali the boxer.
Indeed this masjid is very beautiful. Unfortunately it is not open all the time. Also, more problematic is the content of the khutbahs. They can be extremely antagonistic against women, children and non-Muslims. Women's section is clean but if you're wearing pants then they may force you to wrap a piece of cloth around your awrah.
Mashallah very beautiful masjid from the outside and inside. Prayed jumma here and the imam was very young and gave an excellent khutba.
This is a beautiful masjid that you will see well before you arrive. The architecture is definitely Islamic but somehow fits with the rest of the Hyde Park area around it. The twin minarets, dome, and beautiful metal doors remind you of older masjids in Muslim countries. The immaculate wudu and salat areas and the beautiful mihrab (decorated with calligraphy and tilework) make prayer here a great experience. On Fridays, you can hear the adhan on loudspeakers outside of the masjid and the khutbas are timely and pertinent. If you are coming through Chicago, do not miss this masjid.
