Very nice masjid..plenty of parking...overall excellent experience.
I disagree with the Br. Jihad's review. I do not wish to start a debate here but B. Jihad's assertion are not factual. Let me set the record straight. The masjid is small but sufficient and comfortable for all regular prayers. For Jumaah and big congregations ONLY, the Masjid gets overcrowded. A new Masjid is being built in Naperville, to accomodate this crowd. The women have room at the back off the main hall that is taken away only during Jumah. A regular (daily) school is run on this premises for young kids (pre-schoolers to KG). Both my kids went there (one is still there) and it has been very useful for them from Islamic perspective. There is also a weekend school run by ICN. Kids of all ages attend this saturday school. I am a regular Masjid visitor and I do not agree with all the Shura decisions. This does not mean that I contort the thruth to malign people. With the completion of the new Masjid in Naperville, Insha Allah, the city would be one of the few places in entire USA having more than one Masjid.
A difficult place to pray. The property is a former ranch house that gets crammed to the gills on Friday - it gets stuffy and uncomfortable. The women's area is practically nonexistent and is pretty much a closet; it is closed off so that women cannot see the khateeb. Despite repeated entreaties by mosque management, worshippers still end up parking their cars in front of neighbors' mailboxes and driveways. This has lead to rocky relations with the mosque's neighbors in the past. A lot of this could be resolved by finding a larger space. The mosque has tried twice in the past to buy land and construct a mosque but both efforts have failed (even though they actually bought land once). The complete reasons for this failure are uncertain. Additionally, in private I have heard grumblings by regular mosque members about some of the policies of the mosque. In particular, there is a rule that you cannot be on the mosque's board of directors if you have a conventional mortgage.
