It's all about the money and maintaining large overhead costs. I was not impressed by having to sit for well over an hour after Isha salat on lailat ul khadr night while a mosque spokesman went on and on about how the mosque needed money. He would not allow us to pray taraweh prayers until $30k were pledged or donated. Maybe if they ran a simple, low cost operation there would be no need to extort money from people who just want to pray.
Good size mosque, just wish they had more parking to accommodate Friday and Eid prayers.
Very large and beautiful looking masjid which is run by ISNA Canada. I like the openess of the masjid (no wall barrier between men and women in the main hall).
Nice space and great location (off the QEW). However, a fairly "liberal minded" atmosphere. Do not consider it important to have a fulltime imam. Decent tarawih prayers, although lots of mixing between genders during tarawih prayers and Jum'ah salat.
ISNA Center is this grand mosque one cannot miss while driving along the QEW West of Toronto. I ve been there briefly once, it is a full-service major islamic center and has all kinds of activities and social functions etc. A bit out in the suburbs and too far from the city though. Has a big bookshop there too.
