5 of my children graduated or are still attending DNA. It is an accredited school and in the past number of years has even managed to maintain its excellent teaching staff. My children that already graduated from DNA all went into the excellerated programs of the public high school and are attending top universities. I have not experienced any behaviorial issues or negative mannerism with my own children although have had them come home telling me of misbehavior of other children. These violations, however, were not learned from the school but clearly outside as it was bad language or inappropriate material on an ipod. I don't believe any school is exempt from a few bad incidents, even Islamic schools. Behavior has to be taught and constantly reinforced in the home. I believe the school should more strictly punish students misbehavior. There is clearly leniency toward students (maybe because of our forgiving nature). I do believe that the board and principal should be more open to change and improvements. The community is growing and evolving and the school has to grow with it.
Good:- Nice location, big school with hundreds of children, right next to Masjid, some excellent teachers. Bad:- Bad management, unqualified principal and most of the teachers are average Reason for criticism:- Being Muslims, we are supposed to demonstrate exemplary behavior, which is lacking in a way the parents (and children, sometimes) are treated by the principal, the board and some of the staff. If the main purpose of having the school is to please Allah and to help the community, it should be done in utmost sincerity and modesty, not for show off. Future Parents:- I rate them poor, solely because of Islamic mannerism. Every kid is a keen learner and I do not want my kids to learn their manners, period. Do consider Amana academy (charter school, so no fees), ILM academy and City of knowledge. Insha'Allah, we'll have a lot more opportunities the way we are growing in Atlanta. Current Parents:- Maintain your strong Taqwa and always make dua for your kids. Allah will help your kids from all kinds of Fitna, Insha'Allah.
