Subz N Stuff |
 |
220 West Las Colinas Blvd., Irving, TX 75039
Subz N Stuff is a small deli with a warm atmosphere. Very clean environment and friendly customer service. They have a separate zabiha menu, but everything on the menu is either beef or turkey based. Very busy between 11-1:30pm, so come earlier or later, especially for their loaded Maverick sub. You can also call-in your order before 11am and pick it up. ★★★★★ I had awesome customer service! The owner very passionate about his food and wants to make sure everyone is pleased. He ask OC the food was good and is just looking for feedback to improve if it wasn't what you expected. I love the tuna on croissant without any extras.
The Malibu has a Indian spice taste and is one of my fav. if u go there and just ask make me a zabiha sandwhich he comes up with his own crazy sandwiches and I haven't been disappointed yet everything here taste great . And the staff is pleasant to talk too as well. Posted on March 18, 2013 |

★★★★★ Great food. One if the best sandwich place in DFW. Owner Jami knows almost every customer’s name and greet them the same. Customer service is an A+ Posted on June 8, 2019 |

★★★★★ Excellent subs, great service from workers, owner's a horrible human being.
Definitely check the place out when the owner isn't there or if he is, keep conversation to a minimum. It may start out great until he starts interrogating how often you don't go or some other pointless topic that can set him off. Been there many times as it started out great until owner eventually showed his true colors. Posted on September 8, 2017 |

★☆☆☆☆ Not sure if there sandwich is made out of gold was charged $23 bucks for sandwich and bag of chips..ridiculous will not be going there anymore...such rip off. Posted on August 17, 2016 |

★★★☆☆ Excellent Customer Service. However, don't expect same level of superb customer service if you eat halal. You have to pay a $1 extra for Halal. Place is a bit expensive. The owner will not answer the question if this is hand-cut zabihah halal or not. People need to respect one's beliefs and not try to just say 'Its halal brother'. I also feel that the white folks get better customer service than us Desis and Brownies. Its not like we negotiate for his food. In fact, we pay extra dollar for halal. Posted on April 18, 2016 |

★★★☆☆ The only sub i liked here was the Mailbu chicken sub. Will not be returning as the sub i like doesn't taste good anymore. The owner is a nice guy until you waste some of his special sauces or ask for his help on deciding what to get. According to him all of his 60 subs are best in the world ( not true as only few of them are good) and he will not help you in that matter. So basically if you are visiting for the first time you will have to rely on your instincts. One more thing, I dare anyone who like this place to trash one of the sauces in front of the owner. ★☆☆☆☆ Been here a few times, but never going back after last weeks bad experience. His sandwiches may be good, and made with Zabihah meat. They charge $1 for cup of tap water and $2 extra for zabihah, making it $14 for some sandwiches. The owner is rude and disrespectfuly to customers. Its customers who make your business. He told-off my son and his friend for throwing water and bit of sauce into the garbage. He went so far as to pick the cups out of the garbage and threatened to charge them money for it. These are children! No matter how good the food is, its not worth poor service and verbally reprimanding your customers. My children and family have no desire to return to this place. ★★☆☆☆ I wasnt impressed with their subs. Not sure how they got these ratings. It was my first and last visit there. Posted on August 16, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ While most of their subs are great and the staff is superb, I do have an issue with the owner. There is a fine line between good customer service and then there is harassment. When we go in with our families who are visiting or even just 2 of us for a quick bite one thing we don't need is someone standing over our heads constantly talking about 78 different sauces and how they will be in Walmart soon and how this is better than any other sub out there etc etc. the rhetoric gets old after the first few times. You need to give customers their space specially when they are trying to enjoy their sandwiches.
Even bigger issue than this is the owner claims to have worked in Jewish delis in NY etc. I had someone visiting from NY who is well versed is deli meats and original delis sandwiches. When she asked the owner for original pastrami sandwich, the owner got all upset saying this the way we make it which is the best way to eat this. Fact :- the pastrami comes on Rye with loads of thinly shaved beef - no cheese and no lettuce. He was very rude to her and argued with her right on the counter. This to me is unacceptable!!
I haven't been to Subz n Stuff since and even if I do make a trip there it will be when the owner is not there. Posted on June 27, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ Okay guys, I debated for over a year about whether or not to write a review on here. I usually do not write reviews, EVER! The first several times my husband and I visited this place we loved it. The owner seemed passionate, if not a bit over zealous in his presentation and the food was great. We returned often as did our friends and local family. Each time family came to town we were sure to take them here...but then we started to see the true colors of the owner himself. I had seen reviews claiming he had been rude to people, but I ignored them...until slowly but surely, each one of us had at least one, if not several rude encounters with the owner. One time my sister in law called in an order and my husband (who the owner knows pretty well) picked it up. He had been extremely rude to my sister in law and when he saw mu husband he said "oh I didn't recognize your wife's voice." Oh so you pick and choose who to be rude too? If it was me it would have been different? Unfortunately I had experiences where he was very rude to me over the phone as well. One of our good friends went in for a sandwich at about 2pm with his wife. Two people. There were maybe two or three people in line. Not terribly busy. When my friend attempted to place his order, the owner rudely told him he should have called in the order! Who calls in an order for two people in the middle of the week outside of a lunch rush? It has only ever been the owner that is rude. His employees are stellar and have great customer service. We all debated so long about whether or not to continue supporting this man's business. We all wanted to avoid going there, but made excuses for a long time to keep returning. My husband recently had a bad enough experience (which he was so upset he refused to talk about, but told me to write the review), that he said he will never eat there again. My sister in law and her husband have made the same choice, as have my friend and his family. It is such a terrible, sad thing that such talent is wasted on a man who can be so rude. It is clear that his business has grown beyond what he can handle. And it is also clear that he needs to take a course in how we do customer service in these parts. Posted on March 16, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ The people who are claiming about excellent customer service must be verified as authentic or not. I have been to this place many times weekends and lunch on weekdays. The owner knows most of the non-muslim looking people by name and trust me he has long lines during lunch. But unfortunately the guy is prejudice towards muslim looking or desi people. Even though the guy himself is desi. So while waiting standing patiently for my turn to place the order, I asked him can I have Halal roast beef , he stared and yelled that everything is Halal here, do you want Zabihah!!! I was like really dude you will lecture me the difference between Zabihah and Halal while you knew exactly what I was saying. Sad really. Typical case of inferiority complex. Although the female that works was very polite but the owner needs attitude adjustment.
BTW the sandwiches are awesome. One of the best you'll have in town. Posted on December 16, 2014 |

★★★★★ There is no other zabihah place like this! A pure halal deli sandwich restaurant. Roastbeef is amazing. Philly cheesesteak is also to die for. Owner has been in the deli business for 20+ years and knows his stuff. Very friendly and welcoming. He also makes a variety of homemade dipping sauces which he sells at the restaurant. I try a different one each time I go there. Extremely busy during lunch hours so must call ahead of time or wait after 2pm to order. Only open until 8pm. Wish they were open 24/7, I would eat here everyday! Posted on May 24, 2014 |

★★★★★ Never in one's wildest dreams one can find a sandwich shop using fresh ingredients, hand carving meats, and putting so much love to the end product. This is one of the best (if not the best) sub shop period. Extremely friendly casual atmosphere with clean wholesome line of products. Subs n stuff is a place where customer is appreciated and treated like a royalty. Great job and kudos to the owner. A top notch place all around. Posted on March 6, 2014 |

★★★★★ Visiting the city and Subz N Stuff came highly recommended. They did not disappoint. Excellent food; friendly service; reasonable prices; good location. Would definitely come again, inshaAllah. Posted on February 17, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Delicious sandwiches: The Ranger, Malibu, Maverick, Cheesesteak - all are extremely good though on the expensive side. Call ahead to place your order as the wait can be long for Zabihah (from 30 min to 1.5 hours on some days) and go after 5 pm so you have the best chance of avoiding the owner. He sometimes acts friendly but other times is extremely rude; best to avoid and not have him spoil your meal. Posted on October 31, 2013 |

NR Subs are very good. There is no alternative when you compare the quality. Difference of customer service between customers (in favor of non-zabihah customers) as noted in other reviews is mostly true, especially in rush hour. I would definitely like that to be changed. As far as food is concerned, it is awesome. Posted on September 4, 2013 |

★★★★★ great place for lunch... great tasting subs .. the owners are quite passionate abt their food and really make an effort to get to know their customers.. i go there pretty often and would encourage everyone to try it out!!! Posted on May 4, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ I ate here on a few occasions. The subs are OK but the service needs improvement. During busy periods the owner rushes you to place an order and when it is quiet he overwhelms you with conversation about how good his food is and how you should be telling others about it & commenting on social media sites about the good food. Whilst I was eating the owner asked me if I enjoyed the food and I said yes. He then told every customer who walked in thereafter what I ordered & told them to ask me if I was enjoying the food. This is really irritating & borders on being childish. Posted on March 15, 2013 |

★★★★★ Really good. Had the BBQ beef sub and hubby had maverick. Serving size is huge, try a half sub! Posted on February 1, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ Awesome place. Great service. Not all items on their menu is Halal but they don't sell any pork products i.e. their bacon, pastrami ... etc are either Beef or Turkey.
Just ask and they will let you know which items are available as Halal for that day, and they have a separate menu for it.
Love the food and I go there all the time.
*** UPDATE: I kept my original review above but lowered the score because the service you get from this place varies. If you ask for halal meat and the place is busy the owner gets frustrated with you. Maybe they shouldn't offer halal items in the first place if its such a hassle and if the non-halal customer base is more important. Posted on January 29, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ Called to confirm if the place was Zabiha.. Asked if the meat was hand slaughtered or machine slaughtered. Guy on the phone got very defensive..and started going off and the hung up. Posted on January 19, 2013 |

★★★★★ Best halal subs ever!!! Worth going here! Highly recommend it! Posted on November 6, 2012 |

★★★★★ This place closes too early for dinner. I ordered the Maverick and the Malibu. They both were delicious. Make sure you tell the guy making the food that you want "zabihah" meat and not just halal. He knows the difference between the two.
The staff was friendly and stayed late to make my maverick. He said next time you have to call in ahead of time for the maverick because it takes about 12 minutes to make.
The prices are a little on the high side and you have to add extra for zabihah meat. Posted on September 5, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ AMAZING food, worst customer service we've experienced. We ordered 1 hr beforehand, owner is disrespectful was disrespectful to us and otherMuslim customers, lied about timing, and served nonMuslim customers before us. Ie, he doesn't like brown people. Posted on July 7, 2012 |

★★★★★ Excellent subs.. We tried the Lone Star, and Malibu Chicken.. Both were fresh and tasted great. Would recommend and go back to try other stuff... Posted on June 30, 2012 |

★★★★★ I wish Subz n Stuff was around where I grew up! Amazing food and the brother who owns the shop makes sure each sandwich is unique. The service is tremendous. There is such a large choice of sandwiches that you're bound to find something you like. It's easily accessible too and is an easy trip from Dallas. Posted on May 22, 2012 |

★★★★★ Best zabihah sandwiches I've ever had. Very tasty, fresh, and worth making the trip to Las Colinas! Owners show great customer service and know many people by name as well as what they like to order. Awesome Mom/Pop shop...everything is yummy. Posted on April 9, 2012 |

★★★★★ We moved to the area in July and since then we've been to Subz n Stuff at least a dozen times and tried about half of their menu so far. Even tho they're a good 10 mi or so from where we live we will make the drive just for their amazing subs.
Hands down, freshest, highest quality, best tasting, and best service in town. The owner is a Muslim uncle, he's a true sandwich connoisseur and KNOWS the art of making a darn good sandwich.
We've tried the Ranger, the pizza sub, the gyros, the Malibu, the bbq Beef, the Philly, the Reuben, and of course, the Maverick--which is out of CONTROL GOOD!! of course, best part is, it's all halal!! how many deli places will you find that?! and he slices all meats and cheeses TO ORDER! just make sure to tell them you want halal.
Him and his staff are also very friendly and actually know and care about their clients. Prices are very good for the product being delivered and portions are normal to very very big (depending on what you order). He has every sauce in the world and a great selection of chips.
It's a small place but a cozy atmosphere and I hope he never goes bigger than this because it's perfect just the way it is! Posted on December 2, 2011 |

★★★★☆ These are certainly the best halal subs I've had in the DFW area (although not the best when compared to other restaurants I've eaten at in the US). Their homemade sauces also add a nice punch the sandwiches. There is a nice variety of subs on the menu.
The owner is indeed a friendly man, and he also loves what he does. Posted on October 30, 2011 |

★★★★★ Wow
1)great subz
2)great service
3)great price
4)awesome
5)everything on menu is halal( don't let the menu fool u when you see ham or pepperoni( it's turkey ham and beef pepperoni.
I highly recommend stopping by to taste theses great subs. Posted on October 20, 2011 |

★★★★★ Simply Amazing! Owner is very nice and loves what he does. If you want a place with great subs and endless options and amazing sauces (homemade) than this is the place for you. You will not be disappointed. Posted on March 22, 2011 |

★★★★★ Although a limited zabihah menu this place has amazing sandwiches. I would recommend the maverick and the phillysteak. They also have over 100 sauces in the front. It is an office space so you have to call them ahead of time. It would be great if they could post the zabihah menu online. Posted on July 21, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ It is not easy to find halal food in DFW. This place is reasonable for a quick lunch or grab and go kind. The shop is very cozy and only 2 men working. I always stop by when I pass though the area. Posted on January 16, 2010 |

★★★★★ Best (Zabihah) sub shop I have been to, if I had to include, say, The Great Outdoors this would tie with them and Subs N Stuff is ZABIHAH!!! Get the 18, 19 or 20 and let me know if you actually finish anyone of them (around 2lbs of meat per sandwich). Me and my buddy got one each, ate half of one, drove to IANT in Richardson to realize the sandwiches weight so much they tore through the bag! BBQ is by far my favorite, sure a sandwich may cost $4-$10 but you’ll be fed for days. Posted on December 18, 2009 |

★★★★★ The negative review below is misleading. The owner is the nicest gentleman I have met. The subs here are fantastic. My favorite is the malibu chicken. If you mention you want halal, he will give you a separate halal menu. The meatball sammich is also fantastic. I would highly recommend coming here. I ate here 2-3 times in my one month stay in dallas. One of a kind. Posted on November 21, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ I never even had a chance to taste their food because the people there have no courtesy. I went there on a Friday around 6:30 pm after looking at their website that they close at 7:00 pm. They did not even had the courtesy to entertain my order, just said that we close at 5:00 pm. Upon which i referenced them from their own website which says they close at 7:00 pm. I did'nt mind their not entertaining my order. The thing that pissed me off was they didn't even say that the website is not updated or anything, they just said we are closed. Not to mention the door was open and there were 4 employees stting around chatting. I don't care how good their food is, if they cannot respect their customers they need to be thrown out of business. Posted on July 29, 2007 |

★★★★★ Always excellent food and great service. Love it. Posted on March 10, 2007 |

|
★★★★☆ Great Food specially their Gyro, the only thing which I see missing from their menu is the lack of chicken in their zabihah menu, most of the food is beef based. Posted on November 21, 2006 |
|
|
★★★★★ This place is great. First of all - all of his meats are Beef based (pepporoni, salami, etc) - all the deli meats. Which is great for those of us that don't neccesarily keep strict Zabihah protocols - you can order any sandwhich and rest assured that it isn't swine. Now, he has a subset of items that are zabihah - and will gladly tell you which sandwhiches/meats are zabihah, whereas which ones are not zabihah - but still halal (meaning not pork)...wonderful guy, and it's a pretty popular place for the lunch time crowd. Unfortunately, it isn't open late into the evening, so you have to either go at lunch, or during the day on weekends. Posted on January 23, 2006 |
