★★☆☆☆ Food was not good at all (except Ribs) and few dishes didn’t feel fresh at all. Quantity was that low I had to order more dishes after it was served. Ambience is very poor and we spent $100 for 5 persons which is way expensive as per rate at other restaurants on Devon. Posted on July 29, 2018 |

★☆☆☆☆ Regretfully I had to edit my original review from 8 years ago. Please see below for original. This place would now qualify as worst food I have ever eaten in my life. We've been coming here over the years and standard was deteriorating gradually. Now it has completely bottomed out. There was so much yellow color in BBQ items, my tongue and fingers were turned yellow for good part of the day. It wouldn't come off after repeated washings. We ordered kababs, chops and boti. Everything was just bad. Karahi was the worst of the lot. Biggest shock was the bill when we were charged around $90 for about 4 dishes. This was very expensive by Devon standards. I have written this establishment off from my memory.
*Very good food. Better than other restaurants on Devon. We tried Bihari kabab, chicken boti, seekh kabab & karahi gosht, all were above average. Service was fast & friendly. Highly recommended.* Posted on April 13, 2018 |

★☆☆☆☆ We recently stopped here for lunch and found this place to be complete disappointment. We ordered Chicken Karahi and half tandoori chicken ( with bones). Both were not fresh. The so called BBQ was burned at several places. It was clearly old refrigrated food which was re-heated and burned. Chicken Karahi had too much spices and was also not fresh at all. We hardly touched it. Worse their service was mediocre. After we finished, we asked for Boxes to pack our left over. The gentleman instead took our food to pack it himself. When we arrived home, we found significant quantity of chicken karahi was missing. What a shame. Never had this experience at any other place in US. I will never visit this place again. ★★★★☆ First off, this is not a BBQ place. It's a typical South Asian restaurant. The food was really good, but I expected better based on the reviews here and from food critics online. I was expecting more spice. The Kashmiri tea was phenomenal. The service was below what I expected. To drink, ordered a coke, coffee and a Kashmiri tea. The coke came, but we had to remind them to bring the coffee and tea after 30-45 minutes of waiting, and when my friend decided to go with a Kashmiri tea instead, the waiter rolled his eyes as he went to get it. The silverware appeared to be dirty, but if I'm not mistaken, it was just hard water. I was considering giving this place a 3, but the food was pretty good, and the place was clean and family-friendly. Posted on July 19, 2014 |

★★★★★ The best BBQ in Chicago hands down. Not sure why there could be any bad review. My family and I eat at khan BBQ at least once a month. We live in the burbs so whenever we come to devon, we eat here because they serve high quality food (best parathas, naans, broast chicken, malai chicken, seekh kababs both chicken and beef, Bihari kababs, karahi gosht). Their kheer and gajjar ka halwa when available are addictive. Oh and don't forget to try the pink chai - it's delicious. They are also highly consistent with tasty chatpatta BBQ cuisine each time. NR Best Tandoori chicken and Behari Kabab on Devon service and hygiene needs improvement and bad interior color choice Posted on May 18, 2013 |
|

★☆☆☆☆ No taste in food at all. You can cook at home better then that. No service and no hygiene , feel like you just waste your money. especially don't go in summer time because seem like you are sitting in a tandoori oven, so hot and uncomfortable. Posted on October 20, 2012 |
|
|
★★☆☆☆ Dirty utensils, glasses etc. To my expectations this place is not all that. Wasnt impressed at all. Had few diff items but they were just ok. Posted on September 21, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Came back here after a while but was disappointed with the quality this time around. The tandoori chicken was very dry and hard, did not seem fresh and did not seem to have been cooked evenly. Not sure what happened as I've had good experience in the past.
Old review:
Found this place to be clean and well maintained. Had their tandoori chicken which was one of the better ones I've had in a while. Naan was also very good. Great service as well. Posted on September 14, 2012 |

★★★★★ Their bar-b-que is the best. Posted on July 11, 2012 |

|
★★★★☆ This place is pretty good. We had the beef seekh kabab, chicken boti and karahai beef. All were good. Their choice of bread offerings were equally as good. You have to try the Onion naan and the Kheema paratha - one of the best I've had. The food here is good. Stick to the tandoor items and you can't go wrong. It is slightly pricy compared to other restaurants in the area, and considering the the ambiance and service received, but overall a good friendly option on Devon. Posted on June 28, 2012 |

★★★★★ Clean restaurant. Have the tandoori chicken and kabobs. Simply the best. Posted on June 6, 2012 |

★★★★★ AMAZING FOOD !..I came all the way from New Jersey to meet relatives for the first time. I came here with the whole family Posted on January 12, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ First the highlights - Spacious and welcoming ambiance, nice for dine-in with family. Tandoori chicken has always been good here, nice and juicy!
Not too many options on the menu though. Not really satisfied with Chana Masala and Frontier Chicken Rice, I've had much much better at other Pakistani restaurants.
Overall, an Okay place to go if you don't have other options (Usmania, etc) Posted on November 28, 2011 |

★★★★★ When asked by out-of-towners for the best grilled Indo-pak food or best kebabs, this is where I refer them. The Chicago Reader named them best restaurant in 2008 and it's easy to see why - a lot of kebobs done well with a nice, clean atmosphere. Posted on September 28, 2011 |

★★★★☆ I went there in a group of 40-50 people for a dinner! I must say i came back with good taste memories in my mind...the thing I liked the most was Ras malai...the best I have had in Chicago, although I dont know if they made it or ordered from some where else! In my opinion, everything was very well made, be it curries or pulao or bbq...I have heard good things about "Frontier Chicken Rice"...will love to try again! Posted on May 12, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ I just visited this place last week. Their food is average. However, I noticed that the utensils on the table are not clean. It appears that they were cleaned with a dish washer, but nobody watched if they have been washed perfectly or not. Posted on January 1, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Great tasting food. Good, fast & friendly service & the place is clean. Posted on October 17, 2010 |

★★★★★ I love this place. The kabobs are mouth watering and tender. The service is ok but the taste of the food more than makes up for any downsides. Posted on October 2, 2010 |

★★★★★ I should be receiving credit for suggesting this place, along with mohsen's wife. But he's right about the chicken & beef kebabs being amazing. Very soft and mouthwatering. They are skewered right in front of you, along with the chapati roti or naan (try both!). Best sandwich rolls I've had! Posted on August 14, 2010 |
|
|
★★★★★ Best seekh kebab sandwhich I've ever had, I cant wait to try the other stuff on the menu. We almost missed this place but thanks to my wife we got to enjoy the kebabs. Posted on August 7, 2010 |

★★★★☆ I am not really sure why other people did not like it, i was in chicago for 2 months and ate out at almost all the restaurants on devon. After Sabri Nehari, this place is the second best halal place in my opinion. Their bbq item were great, we tried chicken tikka, seekh kabob(that were the best), and their vegetarian items. Palak aaloo and gobi aaloo were good and tasted very authentic and spicy. I really liked this restaurant there was a separate area for families. The best thing was that you could see your food being cooked and it looked pretty clean. Posted on June 27, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ Absolutely the worst service on entire Devon. The food is simply over rated. We went there three times and every single time we were disappointed. There Paratha was so thick that it was inedible and pretty much raw on the corners. Their chicken tikka was extremely garlicky and felt not made with fresh chicken. Biryani was OK. Will never go there again , inshAllah. Posted on June 14, 2010 |
|
|
★★★★☆ The name is deceiving. There is no BBQ item. It's a typical Indian grill.
The seekh kabob is okay but because it is frozen, it is sort of like rubber.
The portions are HUGE and the Mongolian chicken/beef is really good.
Best thing I like about this place is that it is clean, and it is very hard to find a clean place on Devon. Posted on January 28, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ First off, for those who think this is Pushtun/Pathan resturant and thus expect that kind of BBQ expertise, No its not. This place sucks from my standrads but then again my BBQ standrads are kinda high :)
Service sucks, the waiters are always a little too busy God know doing what. I orderd chapli kababs, they were below average, I myself can honestly do better than that. They were less then 1/4 inch think with no trace of eggs, or fat. Basically it was qeema pressed into something. A couple other items we ordered were belwo average too. Most bbq items taste like shami kababs for some reason.
Not worth the money. Posted on September 3, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ I was surprised there was nothing bbq about this place. Was very sad and wanted to leave but hubs had already ordered and we were eating. Food was so so and it seemed the staff was tired of serving all day but they actually seemed to be making an effort to be nice. I could tell..If you want authentic bbq don't go here but its not bad.. Posted on July 23, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I would give Khan BBQ a 8 out of 10 as the food quailty is good especially the tilwala naan (the best naan on devon) in my opinion. The meat is decent but a little on the dry side (i've had the bihari kebab and chicken tikka). In my opinion the best desi food in chicago; however, the menu options are few. There is no mixed grill option (which is very strange for a bbq place). The Kashmiri chai was not good at all (if you want good kashmiri chai- go to afghan kebab near MCC masjid- well worth the trip and measlely $1 price).
In terms of the service, the waiters can be rude, and if they weren't uncles, i would have given them a piece of my mind. They were waiting for us to finish eating so that they could go home. They were literally standing by the door and staring.
All in all, the fact that this is the best chicago has to offer will keep me coming back for more and praying that they update their decor and interior and try to make it more of a fine dining experience. Posted on January 9, 2009 |

★★★★★ Great food, they also have a prayer area Posted on August 30, 2008 |

★★★★★ The best place to eat on Devon avenue!! Excellent bbq, very fresh food and quick n friendly service. Posted on August 30, 2008 |

|
★★★☆☆ Place was good, a bit on the spicy side! Posted on June 22, 2008 |
|
|
★★★★★ I think its a great place for authentic Bar-B-Que. The place is fortunate as its older location got all burnt up and it lead to them opening this new place which remedies the only problem they had(location)
Their must-tries are Chicken boti, Tandoori chicken, Daal Paalak and Bhindi.
Price is moderate for a Devon restaurant. Waiters might seema bit rude at times but I think its mostly to do with them being overwhelmmed at busy times. Naans are good but not for take-away as thet get soggy. Posted on March 26, 2008 |
