★★★★☆ Very beautiful interior, felt like we were in a Middle East country. Food was very good. Posted on October 3, 2020 |

★☆☆☆☆ Went here for the first time and the experience was not good!
We went on 08/11, out of our way, based upon the decent reviews and also that they were advertising "Lunch Buffet." This lunch buffet was supposed to be from 11-3 pm, so we rushed and arrived around 2 pm.
Restaurant was about half full. We were greeted and seated in few minutes but that was the only good part that happened. After that nobody brought any menu or came to ask if we were interested in the menu item and/or buffet or if we need any drinks even though there were more than 1 server that were just roaming around.
I finally got up and ask one of the servers regarding buffet and was told to help ourself. This is where I got shocked also when told that they were only having "Breakfast Buffet" items until 3 and that lunch items will be served at 3!
First of all, who serves breakfast buffet until 3 pm? Secondly, why false advertisement that "Lunch" buffet will be served from 11-3? If we knew lunch items will be starting at 3 then we would have not rushed and would have taken care of other chores. Again, nothing was communicated and/or published about all these different buffets until I asked. I don't mind all this but how hard is it to advertise in order and clear manner?
Since we were already there and hungry, decided to get whatever they were serving and then to wait for the lunch items. Sure enough there were only breakfast items and no signs of any kebabs, rice, etc.
We were already feeling full by the time done with the breakfast items and the wait for the lunch items. Since we went specially for the lunch items we still went to the food area to see what food items were available. This time there were couple of rice items but no signs of any kebabs. Since this was surprising to us we asked one of the guys serving the buffet area. He then told us that kebabs are in fact available, with buffet and no extra charge, but we have to order and will be made fresh and served on the table. He also told us that they don't want to make it in advance and put it in the buffet area because then it will be dried and will not taste good. Thinking on how no one bothered to tell us about this before we ordered different kebabs and sat on our table.
After having no signs of any kebabs we asked one of the nearby server about it who responded as he has no idea what we were talking about. We then gave him our order again and because of his attitude I asked him if it is part of the buffet and he said no! We then told him about how we were told different by the guy at the buffet area. With a face full of surprises he left by saying that he has to check first......he never returned. Other server came back after a while with kebab platter who did not say anything about it being covered in the buffet price or not and just left. We ate little bit and had a feeling that for sure we will be charged for it. However, what we didn't know was that there was a much bigger surprise at the check out!
Went to pay the bill and got happy when told that kebab platter was not charged because of the mix up. However, my happiness quickly turned into disappointment when I saw 18% gratuity was charged in the name of "Automatic Service Fee Gratuity." Upon query, I was told that all buffet tables are automatically getting charged regardless due to Eid!
First of all, I don't think it is even legal to "force" something that is extra in the name of whatever unless it is communicated, in advance, through verbal and/or other means. Secondly, who charge "automatic" gratuity for the party of only two specially in buffet? I looked at their Facebook's buffet posting again just to confirm if I miss anything and it clearly says, "Eid Mubarak
Mazagan Eid al Adha LUNCH buffet
Sunday 8/11/2019 - 11-3 PM
RSVP highly recommended"
Price is also listed as, "$15,95+T"
Nowhere that it says breakfast items will be served till 3 and/or there will be an extra automatic charge of 18%. Again, 18% or the extra amount is not that much but it is more a matter of principal and running business honestly and not ripping off customers through sneaky and other silent/hidden ways. Good thing I noticed this and now writing about it so others would know, but how about those who don't even bother to check or ask what are they paying for? How many times has this business charged "extra" to those customers?
Based upon my poor experience and different surprises I will not go and recommend this place. Posted on September 5, 2019 |
