NR True fast food, only cleaner, zabihah, and better in quantity and quality.
It was our first visit to DC. Many of the places we inquired had alcohol or BYOB. I was happy to see this place had neither. If I visit DC again, I will eat here again. Posted on July 31, 2014 |

NR It was a very nice place. Very clean.
However, i ordered a chicken falafel wrap and there was alot of mint in it and it was quite dry. Posted on July 7, 2012 |

★★★★☆ I recently went here in June 2012. I thought the food was somewhat pricey, but it was quick, and pretty tasty! The staff verbally confirmed that the meat is halal. Mona is right - it is a very small place to actually sit down and eat at, but it's a great place to grab and go. Posted on July 3, 2012 |

★★★★★ We LOVE this place. It's one of the newest places to pop up on the H St, NE corridor. The food tastes great, it's ready fast, and the prices are really reasonable. The shawarma and everything else we've tried is DELICIOUS. The ingredients are all so FRESH and the shawarmas don't fall apart because they press them before serving. We talked to the owner and he told us that all of the meat is halal/zabiha and from a free-range (aka natural but not technically organic) farm in PA. They've also got some cool drinks that aren't available elsewhere. No alcohol sold here. The space is completely renovated and they did a nice job. It's a relatively small space so not good for a huge crowd unless you're gonna get the food to go. We've already been back twice and are definitely gonna be regulars here. They're open late on the weekends, their hours are 12pm-3am Fri. & Sat., but 12pm-9pm Sun.-Thu. About the name, Shawarma+Falafel=Shawafel! If you're looking for a casual place to get some great halal food on the cheap, this is the spot! Posted on September 12, 2011 |
