★★★★★ 15 years we've been coming here. The food quality has changed very very little. They have tried new bread from time to time and the green chili sauce. Service has been fine for the most part, they bring the food, they are cordial as can be for non personal service. We tip how much we want never more, never less. We aren't persian and I have never once felt different there. Of course for the past two years they have started to give us some special and personalized treatment. But the food, the kubideh is unmatched. Say what you will but show me a place that has the same quality and taste for 15 years in a row. And enough food to last for two meals for one person. We have done family events, and personal dinners in addition to take outs. There are other great places, but im not reviewing those I'm reviewing Shamshiry. Also spoke with the owners son face to face, the only thing here not Zabiha is the filet mignon kabob. If im going to ask for the packaging of the meat then i should ask every restaurant claiming to be zabiha otherwise it would be hypocritical and demonstrating a biased double standard. I asked them, they gave their answer knowing and seeing who we were, patrons of 15 years. Good enough for me. Posted on July 21, 2016 |

★☆☆☆☆ Very poor service ''0'' The way manager was speaking to us like we were eating for free while charging us extra for our food. We order Soltani and with lamb and they bring soltani with beef and another plate of lamb instead of saying sorry he was saying its same price :) well then bring 20 breads and dough for same price:))) So will never go there again. If you like Persian kabob go to Alborz its very close to Tysons corner much better service and better food. FYI owner Be respectful to your clients they are paying you for it. NR Hi all today i have visited this resturant after 3 visits before really excellent food and service however, we have discovered that there are 2 dishes in the menu NOT halal. Please ask first before you order. I discovered this from the waiter Posted on August 24, 2016 |

★☆☆☆☆ This is my 2nd attempt to try this place and result was no different , I ordered couple of chicken kaboob platters They will slap white rice and 5 pieces of chicken off from skewers onto the plate and call it chicken platter. Plus the portion of rice is huge, it can easily be enough for two adult males. There couple of good places near by , if someone wants have good Persian/Mediterranean food try either "Friends Kaboob" Or "Rose Cafe" they both are exceptionally good compared to Shamshiri. ★☆☆☆☆ If you don't speak farsi, they will treat you differently and make you feel un-welcomed . My wife went to wash her hands and they took her chair to another table while they know she is coming back and her plate was just served. Finally, they forced us to leave by asking us if wanted boxes to take what was left with us WHILE we are still eating. They charged us a mandatory 18% tip, that's explain their behavior since they are taking tip anyway even with bad service. Posted on March 1, 2015 |

NR This place is so good, very solid Persian food. As I was eating their barg kabob/beef filet, I was literally saying to myself that there's no way this was halal. Lo and behold, it turned out that was one of the non-zabiha items on the menu. Sadface. They give great, big portions and lots of rice and even leftovers still tasted great the next day. Unfortunately, I've been turned off by the partial halal thing so I haven't been back in like 2 years, since I can't figure out what actually is halal and what isn't. Also, when they're busy it's really hard to get a table, I've had to wait for like 30 mins before to be seated. Posted on July 14, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Pros
Confirmed with the manager that the Chicken and Kobeedah are halaal
Highly recommend the Chicken and Kobeedah
The doogh and pudding are also pretty good as well
Cons
Way too much Rice to the point that it's pretty much Israaf. Ask for less Rice so that you don't waste the food (or just take it home with you) Posted on July 7, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ I am very suspicious of this place's halal status and have not eaten there in over a year at least because of it.
I've been in the past on four separate occasions. On each occasion I was told different things about the menu. Once I was told everything was halal, at other times that only the beef items are, at other times that only the chicken items are. One time the waiter said only the chicken jujeh was halal; I asked about another chicken dish and he said its not halal....So yeah, would advise against until someone here can get solid confirmation. ★★★☆☆ I work down the street so figured I'd give it a try, chicken kabob was ok,still tryingto figure out why the spice is minimal if any, the salmon was good. Only downside is the bread is more like a taco tortilla than any afghan or iranian place I've been. Maybe if I go back I'll save it to make a burrito. Lol. Food was good though. Needs to have halal sign, or at least somewhere inside. Posted on February 23, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Went here for dinner. This place is considered fine dining compared to the other Persian restaurants in the area that serve food on paper plates. The kubideh and chicken jujeh were both very good. Service was impressive. We were assured that the meat was halal. Posted on December 1, 2010 |

★★★★★ The heart of the Persian menu is the spit-fired kebabs and the lovingly gilded rices, called polos—dishes for which this tiny restaurant in a Tysons office building has almost no peer.
The kubbideh, or beef-kebab platter, is a marvel—two long flanks of luscious, assertively seasoned minced meat. A mound of fluffy, buttered white rice alongside the meat waits for you to crack in a raw egg—you order it extra—and stir until the grains are glossy and rich. To say that no other dish approaches this pinnacle of deliciousness is not a slur. The soft, pink salmon with herbed rice is excellent, as are the chicken kebabs, succulent cubes crusty with char from the grill. Rice is an end in itself in Persian cooking, and Shamshiry honors the tradition with its shirin polo, a fragrant dish studded with pistachios, almonds, and candied orange peel and suffused with saffron.
The prices are so reasonable and the surroundings so plain that you don’t expect to be taken care of. But there’s elegance in eating here, from the white tablecloths to the lovely pot of hot tea available for the end of the meal. It’s a fine companion for the cream roll or the saffron-and-rose-water ice cream—a dish as simple and luxurious as Shamshiry itself. Posted on November 15, 2010 |

★★★★★ Everything is zabeeha except for the steak. That is exactly what they will tell you if you call or eat there. Please put back on the zabeeha list -- it is an excellent restaurant. Posted on October 5, 2004 |

★★★★☆ We confirmed with a previous employee and discovered that Shamshiri restaurant
does not use Halal meat as they verbally claimed. If the carry Halal meat then they should post the Halal meat sign on their door or in their menu like other Halal restaurants in the area. Posted on May 11, 2004 |
