★★★★★ This restaurant is an experience. It is amazing.
Every dish is perfect, the service is exceptional, and the owner is always happy.
They do serve alcohol, but a majority of their clientele are not Muslim. If you want them to stop selling alcohol, frequent them more, be willing to pay the money, and make them successful without non-Muslim.
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. Posted on June 26, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Taste wise this is an excellent restaurant but again the fact only chikcen and minced beef is halal makes you wonder how sincere they really are. The layout is very appealing to non-muslims and they serve Alcohol.
This is the best Afghani food we have ever had! Beats T.O Afghan restaurants in terms of quality, service, and decor - A Must try in Vancouver. Posted on August 2, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ Because the halal meat is off and on there, I only tried the vegetarian dishes. The Ashuk was bland! Not as good as the other place in Surrey. The vegetarian selection was small, too. But the atmosphere is very cool and a lot of my co-worker do love the food and ambiance there. Service was great. Posted on May 23, 2008 |

★★☆☆☆ ALCOHOL AND MUSLIMS DON'T MIX! The food was exceptional. Unfortunatly the rice and the salad were NOTHING like afghan food. And I'm afghan so I should know. Although the service was very good. If only they could improve on the food and HAVE NO ALCOHOL then it is better. Whether they are muslim or not, I do not know but they should CLEARLY STATE whether the food is HALAL or NOT on their menus. Prices were high, not good for families with young children. ★★★★★ "This is by far the best tasting restaurant I have been to in the Mediterranean food category. Too bad they are not Muslim. They serve alcohol here and the beef kababs are NOT halal. On a positive note, the manager did not hesitate to point out that the chicken, lamb and minced beef IS halal but the beef sirloin (skewers, kababs etc)are NOT halal. I also tried the Humas as my appetizer which was excellent. Very smooth and extremely fresh tasting served with fresh whole wheat bread! Better than any other Mediterranean or Greek restaurant that I've been too! (And I have been to a lot over the past ten years!). I found that the prices were high for their juices, appetizers and deserts but their main entrees were reasonably priced. The interior does look a bit run down but the quality of the food speaks for itself. I would definately return but because of the higher prices would not be able to come here on a regular basis. ★★★★★ "Excellent Afghan restaurant in a traditional setting. It is owned by a Muslim Afghan family. The interior is very dimly lit and decorated as if you're inside a tent, and you sit on the floor. The ambience is breathtaking, and the food is out of this world! Every item on the menu is halal, but they do serve alcohol." Posted on November 23, 2002 |
