★★★★★ Best Thai food I've had in Toronto. Restaurant Malay gets close, if we're discussing South Asian cuisine. Essentially, a Downtown restaurant, and all that it entails. Small location, trendy, Alcohol bar (-1) The owner is non-Muslim, but the food is Halal. The menu selection is small, but has enough variety (0). Overall, an amazing, yet pricey (-1) experience.
I would recommend this location if you're downtown, and want something nice to eat. Walking distance from Masjid Toronto (+1) Posted on May 23, 2017 |

★★☆☆☆ i really don't see what all the hype is about this restaurant. when we arrived there we were expecting a bit of a wait considering all the good reviews this place got and we didnt make reservations either. one of the workers by the register told us it would be a 20 min wait which we were fine with, but it turned out to actually be more like an hour wait and the worker seemed like he forgot about us entirely. when we were finally seated, we ordered crispy spring rolls for appetizer. it was pretty bland and the dipping sauce was flavourless. also had the chicken skewers which was even worse and had a rubbery texture and didnt even feel like real chicken. then had the nua gra teaum which is supposed to be garlic beef with fried egg. it was also very bland and tasteless and the beef was so dry. however, their pad thai was great and one of the best i've ever had. for dessert had the "fried banana" with ice cream, but it was more like deep fried plantain and wasn't pleasant to eat. also the ice cream tasted store-bought. food aside, the service was atrocious and our waiter was rushing us out and even handed me the pinpad to pay while i was eating dessert. overall, not a very pleasant experience. ★★★★★ This deserve 5 stars, maybe 6. We've been going for years, and this location (Can't say about the other location because we haven't been) has consistently served amazing thai food every single time. We always get the Khao Soi, yellow curry with potatoes, tom kha gai soup, and Sukho pad thai and have never been disappointed. Posted on March 27, 2014 |

★★★★★ Great little hidden gem in Toronto. The place was packed with hungry customers. Best Thai food I have ever eaten and a fantastic staff. I would go back in a heartbeat. Posted on September 24, 2013 |

★★★★★ I won't lie, its been a while since I had some authentic Thai cuisine. But this place was not too far from being original. Most of the food tasted good. I didn't like their green curry, thought it had a lot of room for improvement. Overall I would say it is really good and is close to the real thing. They probably need some more staff and need to educate them about the cuisine. I expect the waiters to know the menu well to explain to the guests if they inquire. I would rate this place well above average. Posted on July 20, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ The place is very small but is well laid out that it can accommodate a few guests. The service was OK, like another reviewer mentioned, we had to ask for things like bowls for soup and even plain glass of water. It felt like they wanted to rush you out to accommodate the people waiting. Soup was great, and so was the appetizer. The entrees were barely average, I have had so much better. ★★★★☆ My husband and I came here for a date last night after we had trouble for some time going to another Thai place.
The food was excellent. We had Tom Yum Kung (hot and sour soup with prawns) and Pad Thai with chicken. I loved it so much I over ate!
However, I agree with sajjad86 regarding the service. It was bad which is why I rate it 4 stars. When we were given the soup, there was only one soup spoon, so we had to ask for another one (and that took some time), plus we weren't given small soup bowls to eat from, so we were both eating out of the bowl the soup came in until the guy was bothered to bring some bowls. Even the table to our right were having problems because they were just sat there after the starters waiting for the food to come and the guy who works there asked them if everything was ok (after they finished their starters and were just waiting), then walked off and one of the customers said to his friend he wonders if the guy remembers the food.
So the service was bad, the place isn't all that, but the food was 5 star which is most likely the reason why it's so popular
The food is so good though that I'm willing to go back there again. Posted on May 27, 2012 |

★★★★★ I cannot believe that I have not written a review for this restaurant! Lets just say.. Zabihah.com needs to get a 6 star rating!! the most AMAZING thai food ever. EVER! try the Sukhothai pad thai.. (we always go for chicken) And the Khao so gai.. the Beef noodles with a creamy..yummy coconut curry.. Honestly everything at this restaurant is amazing. Small...i'd stand in the freezing cold for this place ANY DAY! Posted on December 11, 2011 |

★★★★★ Excellent Thai, it was great to finally have some real meat in Thai instead of the usual Tofu substitution I'm forced to make. It's a hole in the wall type place a few blocks east of Dundas Square. It's very popular and not just with the Zabihah crowd so it may be hard to get a table, I managed to get a seat in the basement. Ordered the Sukhothai Pad Thai and the Penang Beef, which is technically Malaysian but it was worth it. Service is a bit chaotic but still polite and quick. I asked for spicy and they delivered, perfect Thai. Posted on November 20, 2011 |

★★★★★ Went yesterday to Sukhothai after reading all the reviews on Zabihah.
Expecting the service to be bad, I was pleasantly surprised, as we got a table right near the counter and the service was not too bad either.
However, the food... really excellent.. fresh, flavorful and yummy..
Will be recommending this to friends and will be going back again soon! Posted on November 19, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ This place has terrible service. I went here with a friend of mine after reading rave reviews here and elsewhere. Every single person gave 5 stars, so having not had good halal Thai in a long time I had high expectations. Unfortunately It was a little disappointing. I tried to make this short but it became long.
First off, credit where credit is due: It was easily the best tasting Thai food I've ever had. Presentation was nice too. We ordered garlic chicken as an appetiser, and Pad Thai Sukhothai, Beef Gaeng Panang and white rice. They asked if we wanted it to be spicy and we said yes. Really flavourful overall, perfectly tenderised meat cut into small pieces, honestly it was awesome.
Where this place disappointed was the sloppy service. When you enter there is nobody there to put your name on a list for seats. The place is tiny so there is hardly any room to stand inside, which you will be doing a lot of because there are very few seats(don't come with a big party). With nobody there to handle seating/busing and no sign either(like in a normal restaurant), that leaves you to walk all the way to the takeout counter at the back to inform them you want a seat. If you don't happen to already know this you will be waiting while other people who know the system bypass you. Their waitstaff frequently walk by the waiting area but make no effort to queue people up or inform them of the wait time.
Next. Finally we got our seat. Our server didn't take us there, though - she simply told us our table number and said to go find it ourselves in the basement. We sat there for more than 10 minutes without her coming back to our table. Even other staff serving tables around us could see we didn't even have menus but did nothing and we could not get their attention. I went back to the counter to ask if we were going to be served. I was asked to identify which waitress gave us our seat, which I did. When the manager questioned her she seemed oblivious and couldn't even remember our table number. A few minutes later someone else came to take our order. She spoke almost no English so we couldn't ask her for any suggestions.
Food took a long time to get to our table, each dish came more than 5 minutes after the last one and one of them we didn't even order. Of course the server never came back to check on us so it took them another 10-15 minutes to figure out that whoever ordered that dish was still waiting for it at another table. Our drinks ran out and we wanted to order more but there was nobody to give the order to and I was not going to walk up to the counter again. To add insult to injury, the tiny, and not especially clean washroom had no working light...as the bulbs were dead.
They won't pack your remaining food for you either, you just get a box and do it yourself. Overall even though the food is amazing, based on my experience I would only suggest this place for takeout, or eat in if you like being treated poorly by waitstaff. I regret having to give such a negative review to a place that serves such good food, but I couldn't get over what felt like institutional incompetence and rudeness among the serving staff. For me, driving in from the suburbs, it's not worth the hassle. Posted on October 2, 2011 |

★★★★★ I am a huge fan of Thai food, and have been to Thailand twice and really love authentic Thai food. For people looking for desi style Thai food, this is not your place.
As far as the food itself, it is truly amazing. Their Tom Yum soup is excellent, and the garlic chicken is sublime. Their menu is somewhat limited, but everything is great. I am not exaggerating when I say that the noodles ooze of flavor, and you can actually taste each exotic ingredient as you consume it. I have not had more flavorful food in years, and it is truly authentic.
I will say that the locale is not a great area, and the restaurant is small and very cramped. We had a hard time fitting in and were bumped every time patrons and waiters passed us.
However, there is no question that this is the best Thai food you will find, possibly in North America. You will definitely be very happy when you go there. Posted on July 31, 2011 |

★★★★★ Assalamualaykum. Well, what more can I say that hasn't already been said in the previous reviews. Simply and absolutely delicious!
This was our very first visit to this place (thanks to the wonderful comments and reviews) and we were not disappointed!
We started off with Garlic Chicken followed by Sukhothai Pad Thai (for myself) and hubby ordered Pad Kee Mao. All I can say is that we couldn't stop eating!
The staff is very friendly, and made our overall experience a memorable one! Definitely going back again for dinner this week.
We need a good Thai place like this in Vancouver. Posted on June 28, 2011 |

★★★★★ Best thai in the city, and it is halal! Can't go wrong at this place. Prices are reasonable, the normal cost for a dish at chinese/thai places, about $9 to $10. I prefer the curries, try the Ganag Penang. The garlic chicken, their tum yum soup is good as well. This place has not let me down. Sitting area is small so plan ahead and make reservations if you are planning on eating there. Owner is really nice and takes care of the customers. Once you try this place you will be hooked! Overall, my favorite restaurant in Toronto. Posted on December 11, 2010 |

★★★★★ All I can say is, "Wow". excellent food. great curry and noodle dish. Pad Thai is one of the best I tasted. Difficult to get sitting due to size, but worth the wait. Posted on September 3, 2010 |

★★★★★ Just went there for the first time last night and ordered several dishes. The food was fantastic. Having traveled in Southeast Asia considerably I would easily place this among some of the best Thai food I ever had. And the staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. This place deserves its great reputation. Posted on September 1, 2010 |

★★★★★ Owner is very friendly and down to earth. Food is great ! atuhentic thai food with decent selection. Prices are not cheap but reasonable , the place is cramped to say the least. They have about 4 tables upstairs and 2 downstairs, tiny joint. The area is kind of shady, so be careful going after dark. I would go back for sure. Posted on July 1, 2010 |

★★★★★ Great little restaurant with really friendly staff. Food was delicious, my fiancee and I definitely plan to come back! Only downside was that its not in the greatest area so walking around there at night isn't a good idea. Posted on June 17, 2010 |

★★★★★ the best thai food in the city. i find that the food here is very tasty and fresh. the chef's seem to take a lot of pride in preparation. prices are very reasonable and the owner ms. nuit is always smiling and pleasant. I can't think of a better restaurant in the city. the meat is halal as assured to us by the owners. They dont serve alcohol which is a bonus! Posted on June 14, 2010 |

★★★★★ Been here twice in the last month. Its a small place and quite packed around dinner time. People were waiting for a table. Their "sukhothai pad thai" is delicious. prices are very good. portions are huge..bring your appetite. excellent thai food. Posted on May 4, 2010 |

★★★★★ As others have stated. This is authetnic Thai. So if you are expecting anything like the typical greasy Hakka or somethin--go elsewhere. This is a great placement. Fresh ingredients. Delcious flavour. The spring rolls are great, as it the pad thai. I haven't tried the curry thai dishes mainly becuase I am not a fan of that sort of thai food. But I recommend the noodle dishes. ★★★★★ the people are very very friendly for sure, the food is also excellent, hands down! ... dishes average out at around $9.50 with dirnk and taxes your meal can go around $12 or more. but the meals are worth it ... i wish they were a little cheaper though.
they are close on sundays ... Posted on August 13, 2009 |

★★★★★ The food in this restaurant is one of the best Thai Food I have ever had. The Chef has been awarded the 9 of Dine in Toronto. This is an award given to the best 9 Chefs in all of the GTA area. The food is so good that I ate there three times in one weekend alone. This restaurant is a must try and we Muslim people are so blessed that these guys serve Halal meat only Posted on August 6, 2009 |

★★★★★ Flavourful, authentic Thai food cooked by an authentic Thai chef. Family owned and operated by the most wonderful people that give the restaurant a great friendly atmosphere and amazing service. Everything we ordered was excellent, garlic chicken, thai fried rice, sukhothai pad thai, gaeng phed (red curry) and gaeng kiaw wan (green curry) As a starter I highly recommend the garlic chicken. The chef prepares everything from scratch and is adamant that everything be prepared as she did in Thailand, so there is a bit of a wait for your food. I recommend calling ahead and ordering once you've discovered your favorite dishes. The best Thai food prepared and served by the most friendliest people. Will definitely be visiting again soon. Umar Bin Khatab Mosque is just south of the restaurant for salat. Posted on July 7, 2009 |
