★★★★★ We had dinner at this restaurant during our family visit to Houston area from Pittsburgh, PA. We were a bit lost on our way, staff members were able to provide correct directions.
The restaurant was clean including restrooms. Staff was friendly and courteous. The portion sizes were a lot bigger than we were used to seeing in Northern US. Their spicy fried wings appetizer was excellent. overall a decent food quality and prices.
They have kids menu as well :)
We would return on our next visit inshaAllah. Posted on June 25, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ This food was disgusting and the service was less than average!! Employees don’t wash their hands after using the restroom. Saw with my own eyes the waiter used the bathroom and walked out the restroom.gross. Posted on July 14, 2019 |

★★★★☆ Love the food here. This is a family owned restaurant and these folks have been around for more than 30 years serving Houston residents with authentic and affordable Chinese cuisine. Now don't confuse affordable with cheap, the prices are surprisingly low and the quantities are very generous but the quality is not poor and the food does not taste ordinary at all. Their fried rice & soups ( hot & sour, chicken corn ) are exceptional. I have tasted more than a dozen different dishes here and have yet to be disappointed. They have excellent variety of noodles as well as Spicy Szechwan Beef, Pepper Steak, General Tso's Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken etc. The staff is friendly but sometimes things get lost in translation when it comes to cultural nuances. Service is a hit or miss. One day you will feel like royalty and on some other visit you may be treated like a homeless person trying to get some free food. Overall I have always been satisfied with this establishment and always love to go there. Posted on May 17, 2017 |

★☆☆☆☆ This place really is not worth going to for Halal Chinese food. The staff is very rude and unprofessional the entire time. The food was cold when we received it, had to send it twice to get it MICROWAVED! and did I mention that the staff is rude. They don't have any professionalism at all. I would not dine here again I would rather Posted on August 4, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ I use to eat here more frequently before maybe a year ago, not so much anymore. I had a previous incident where I tipped the waiter, and the staff there came to me at the door while leaving and demanded a tip. They literally came to me at the door and confronted me with a restaurant full of people, and this took me by surprise. When I told them I gave it to the busboy, they told me I had to tip THEM, and never the waitstaff..and she wanted MORE of a tip..and she would not leave until I gave her some bills. It was just three of us, and it took me by surprise, I felt cornered. My friend had the same thing happen, but he was with a coworker when they asked for a tip (which was obviously embarrassing).
We went there again just last week with a guest. The food is still okay, but we saw the portions had decreased by quite a bit (especially the soup and all entrees), and the prices had gone up it seemed. There were 6 of us total and I noticed the 10% mandatory tip on the receipt. The man/owner there who was working never really came to us, and rushed us to leave the whole time. I overheard a last minute gathering of 20 people was coming, so I guess they wanted us to get out of there asap. But the restaurant was still empty when we were there!
Experiences like this make me not want to return to this place. Posted on January 24, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ Sorry Houstonites, we were very disappointed. My children had enough of being prescatarians at PF Changs and they wanted some halal beef and chicken. We reached there at 9:10 pm and the place was packed to 85% which increased our interest however the service is horrible to the highest. All we saw was complete chaos, as there was practically no one to welcome us at the door or even at reception. All we saw were patrons. After waiting for another few mts, (being clever desis) we grabbed an empty table to be not asked, cared or bothered by anyone from staff for another 10 mts. So now the family run up from table to reception began for finding a chinese face, telling her where our table is, that we need forks and spoons, this is our order, please bring 2 soft drinks which took another 10-15 mts. BTW we were not the only ones, almost all families and their teenage kids were doing the same so we didn't kind of felt left out with this treatment. Another round of requests for please bring the soup- that arrived - hot and sour- average at best so please save yourself. Food came after another 5 mts (so the total wait time is now 35 mts). Mangolian beef had a good flavour, chilli chicken again average and noodles - ha- please don't try. So now when we are done, we thought of paying at reception instead of waiting for check. Here the fun part begins, we r told our total is 40 - ok, I pay the money first and asked for a bill. " Why do u need a bill? "Excuse me? I'm a customer I need my bill. Ok here u go, ummmm u have charged me 2 xtra drinks, ok I can minus that, xcuse me u hv charged me 10 % gratuity for the service u have not provided me, it's me and my kids who ran after our table, cutlery, food- u did nothing u don't get any tips- " I can't change it my system doesn't allow me that's built in" why would u built in something optional u can't enforce on me. Ok I will report it to town -out comes my money From the till. Houstonites beware if u r large group plz chk your bill. Posted on December 30, 2014 |

★★★★★ Happening place on a Saturday evening. Enjoyed the busy atmosphere, and food as well. Was family friendly, and service was efficient. They have an extensive menu. Food was flavorful, would love to go back and try other dishes. Posted on October 30, 2014 |

★★★★★ I love China King and frequent this restaurant about twice a month. Every item I have had so far has been good to excellent. My favorites are the orange chicken, Mongolian beef and the chicken lollipops. The wait staff is friendly, food comes out quickly and there's always a table available. Posted on July 22, 2014 |

★★★★★ Friendly staff, especially the owner lady is so nice. It is so good that they have a prayer room. We love hunan beef, orange chicken, fried beef dumplings, and all kind of lo meins and kids like their kids menu. Prices are reasonable if you compare with the other halal rests in houston. Highly recommended. Posted on October 25, 2013 |

★★★★★ Very nice halal Chinese restaurant. Love that they have a prayer room. The General Tso's is the best I've ever had and it is spicy, unlike most other Chinese places, so if you like spicy, you'll love it. I like mine just a little bit spicy Posted on September 14, 2013 |

★★★★☆ It's probably the best Zabihah Chinese restaurant in Houston. I recommend their general Tso chicken and Kung pao beef. For appetizers, their wings are very good. Posted on January 6, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ The food at China king USE to be good. We went in to eat lunch yesterday and ordered the General Tso's chicken with Fried rice, that tasted like it was microwaved the fried rice was also extremely hard. The waiters that were very rude, and she showed no patience as we were looking at the menu to order, literally came back every minute to ask "Did you decide?". Then the surprise, 15 minutes into us eating they brought the check to the table, and I was shocked to see the restaurant has started a MANDATORY 10% tip (there were only 2 of us at the table). My wife and I didn't say anything and we continued our conversation. The waiter returned after serving food to another table and stood next to me and asked "Are you still eating?", I mean if she looked a little closer we were still working through our food. From the time she brought us the check to the time we finally paid, she came to our table 8 times to see if we put down our credit card, and when I asked for a manager her reply was "There's no manager here". Because of the rude pushy waiter, sub-par food, and now mandatory tip I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT, NOR WILL I EVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE ELSE. There are Plenty of chinese restaurants in Sugar Land, even one's that are HALAL that have more respect for their customers. Oh and by the way, they don't have any ventilation in the bathrooms, and the doors to the bathroom are always left open (I tried closing it once, it wouldn't). The stench from the bathrooms flows into the restaurant, you will smell it right when you walk in and the owners will not do anything to remedy that issue, no soap at the sinks have a bottle of hand sanitizer (makes me think how do the cooks wash their hands after touching certain things??) ★★★★☆ Good quality food which is freshly prepared and served. Hosts are very friendly and attentive. I am a regular there as my workplace is nearby. They even customize my order based on my preferences of veggies knowing I eat there regularly.
Very reasonably priced. Posted on February 15, 2012 |

|
★★★★☆ The quality has gone down a little since they had this sugar land location. The general Tso's doesn't taste fresh anymore. It seems the chicken is deep fried in the morning or night before. They have this problem at both locations.
Still a good restaurant. Posted on January 30, 2012 |

★★★★★ Absolutely the best halaal Chinese food I have ever had in my life. The portions were large and filling, food was served piping hot, delicious variety of flavors and exceptionally good pricing. My in-laws took us here on a Sunday night after 9pm, and the place was packed beyond belief. You may have a wait time, but that is because the food is just too good to pass up. Also, another impressive feature is that they have a room dedicated for prayer which can accomodate 3 people. Very clean, great food, ample parking, great pricing -- highly recommend you visit if your in the area, will certainly return with family on our next visit. Posted on September 20, 2010 |

★★★★★ Best halal Chinese in houston, period. Authentic, tasty and prices are very reasonable. Get the general tso's chicken or mongolian beef (my two favorites). Indoor seating is okay -- simple, could be cleaner/nicer. But you know what?? It doesn't matter because the food is so good. Posted on March 5, 2010 |

★★★★★ The Muslim owners of China King prepared their halal chinese cuisine that was absolutely outstanding! Posted on January 4, 2010 |

★★★★★ food is delicious and halal...the owner has repeatedly stated that ALL of the food there is halal. Sister Fatima seems extremely genuine when she says that all the food is halal. Allah knows best...not sure if questioning a fellow Muslim is best practice. if one of their stores is halal, why would the other one not be? i'm just reporting what the owner has said straight from her mouth: that everything on the menu is halal. salaam. ★★★★★ I enjoyed the food at this restaurant with my family and it was excellent. Restaurant was neat and clean. Most of all, when we asked about halal meat and owner (sister Fatima) showed us the receipts of all purchased meat products which showed they were bought from zabiha halal distributors.
