4700 Dempster Street, Skokie, IL 60076
The legendary Pita Inn Restaurants have been a landmark in the Chicagoland area since 1982 when owner Falah Tabahi opened the first Pita Inn Restaurant on Dempster Street in Skokie, Illinois. From day one, Pita Inn offered delicious, affordable, and quality Mediterranean food as a unique alternative to traditional fast food. Pita Inn Skokie?s success encouraged us to reach out to our growing customer base and open more locations, including Pita Inn Wheeling in 1992, Pita Inn Glenview in 2003, and Pita Inn Mundelein in 2013. Falah and his family continue to run the Pita Inn Restaurants in addition to the Pita Inn Market and Bakery, which were opened in 1998. Added on January 8, 2004 and last updated 6 years ago

★★★☆☆ Here's the info on their meat/chicken. Per one their managers this week (Mohammed), the beef is not halal at all, their chicken is machine cut and lamb is from a company called Superior Farms in Denver. Halal Transactions of Omaha certifies Superior Farms lamb as being halal. If you eat at Pita Inn, you can make your own judgement now. Their veggie based stuff is good which is the only thing I eat there. Posted on May 4, 2017 |

★★★★☆ Had chicken shwarma and kefta kabab. Food wasnt bad at all. This place was quite busy. Visiting from canada, will stop by when visiting back Posted on August 20, 2012 |

★★★★★ Fantastic restaurant run by a warm and hospitable family! The babaghanouj and pita bread (baked on site) are the best in Chicago and their falafel is the only falafel that I've ever liked in the US. Two of the meat dishes are zabiha halal: the chicken shwarma and the lamb kifta. Both are very popular but the lamb is my favorite with a delicious grilled taste. Portions are generous, service is fast, and the crowd at lunch and dinner is huge. Posted on September 28, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Warning, they cook the Halal Lamb Kabobs in the same grill as their other meat. The Chicken Shawrima is Halal though as they they not cook it in the grill. Therefore, the only thing Hala at the restaurant is the Chicken Shawrima. Nice Kenafah and Bakhlava and other items, like Baba Ghanoush, Hommous, Salads etc. Posted on March 27, 2011 |

★★★★★ Only chicken shawarma and Lamb kebab are Zabiha. I hope the start serving everything Zabiha since they have a huge Muslim population in chicgao. Posted on January 2, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ I ate here tonight thinking that the meat was Zabihah but later found out that only the Chicken Shawrma is zabihah. This was very disappointing because the setting and ambiance were great, and the place was extremely clean. The staff was also very friendly and outgoing. I find it a shame that they do not cater zabihah meat, especially when they have a huge Muslim Clientele. Posted on November 15, 2009 |

★★★★★ They have two zabihah items on their menu now, chicken shawarma and lamb kabab sandwich. The lamb kabab sandwich is a must eat and is one of the best I've ever tasted (I say this after eating 20 years in the middle east).Other worth eating things are their veggie combo plate. Excellent service, good prices and open till late night all make up for a very good eating place!! Posted on July 12, 2007 |

★★★★☆ Good food! ONLY Chicken Shawarma is Zabiha...they buy chicken sharwarma meat from Crescent Foods. Chicken tenders and any other chicken items are Not Zabiha. Posted on June 7, 2007 |

★★★★☆ Pita Inn is the best place for a Chicken Shwarma ( the only known Zabiha item on the menu ). I was told by the owners/workers that that is the only item and all other items are halaal ( not haram ) but the other items are not zabiha. Posted on September 30, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ I was told that the Pita Inn does not serve zabiha meat. Is this true?? Posted on June 22, 2004 |

★★☆☆☆ Pita Inn was one of my favorite places to go with my family, until I asked if they served Zabihah meat. The owner told me they do not. Posted on May 6, 2004 |

★★★★★ Pita is a great restaurant with very moderately priced menu. This restaurant opened in Skokie for more than 15 years ago.The owner has prospered and now have two other locations in Chicagoland yet he does not serve Zabiha Halal food for obeserving moslims. I along many other local muslim urge the owner to start serving zabiha meat.I am sure he will grow his business multifold. The numero uno middle easter food in CHICAGO. Posted on April 8, 2004 |

★★★★★ We go to Chicago several times a year and everytime we go we make it a point to go up to Skokie for Pita Inn!! Love this place. Great food, fast, low prices. Lots of meat for the meat lovers, lots of veggies like hummous and baba ganouj for the veggie lovers. *sigh* I just salivate when I think about Pita Inn. Posted on February 6, 2004 |

★★★★★ Pita Inn is an excellent restaurant with quality food. However, most items on the menu are not zabiha. They have newly implemented serving zabiha Chicken Shawwarma. However, that is the ONLY dish that is zabiha at Pita Inn. Please ask the server and he will be happy to tell you what is zabiha. Posted on January 12, 2004 |

★★★★☆ These guys do a very good job on Arab food, and I eat there not infrequently. However, they do a Shafi'i take on the halal issue (as do most Arabs in America), so don't expect zabihafied meat. Posted on January 11, 2004 |
