HALAL SUMMARY
The staff of this restaurant has verbally confirmed halal status.
★☆☆☆☆ This is a swanky Indian restaurant laid out to evoke the sense of being at a wedding or a glamorous, exclusive outdoor party. Alas, only the chicken here is halal, which cuts down on your options. Take a taxi or ride-sharing car here -- it's cheap and easier than driving your 4x4 through the rutted streets, though driving in Costa Rica isn't nearly as hard as you might expect. Expect to see lots of ex-pats at this restaurant.
This reviewer does not recall exactly the dish he had but it was probably drunken chicken or similar off the menu and had asked for it to be spicy. It was inedible and unenjoyable due to the heat. I asked for it to be replaced and got tremendous push-back from the server (although this dish cost something like $20 when it took $2 of ingredients. He offered to put tomato sauce in it to cut down the heat (no kidding), which was met with incredulity. Finally he agreed to replace the dish with one that was palatable but in flavor just so-so, meh. 2 out of 5 stars for the food, value, and service, and then minus 1 for the alcohol give an unfortunate rating of 1 star. In Costa Rica to eat well stay halal by going pescatarian, and don't miss out on the fish tacos. Posted on June 11, 2018
