NR Their food is very delicious, mix flavor of Mediterranean and Pakistani food, spicy but not very hot. Ambiance is not that great. Portions are large. Posted on October 9, 2018 |

NR We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered various items on the menu and all were good and served in big portions. Service was extremely friendly efficient. The brother even gave me an additional 10% discount because we it was our first time here. Posted on July 15, 2018 |

★★★★☆ Foods were good. Service was also good. Only thing the place was little noisy for me (customers were speaking very loudly. TV volume was too high) Posted on March 19, 2016 |

★★☆☆☆ I was in a trip to San Diego coming from Arizona for spring break. I read about this restaurant in zabihah app. Service was really terrible and the biggest issue. Food was average, just average. The overall atmosphere was bad! We were the only customers and there were many of their friends who made much of noise! Won't go back again. Posted on March 18, 2014 |

★★★★☆ The service was very good as we arrived just before Maghrib and they made a place for us to pray. The food was decent and plentiful. We would go back the next time we are in San Diego. Posted on June 22, 2012 |

★★★★☆ I had quite a charming experience at Fatuma's Restaurant. I entered near Maghrib Salat and was pleasantly surprised seeing the restaurant filled with families and friends sharing conversation and laughing. The atmosphere almost made it felt like it was Eid.
Atmosphere aside, Fatuma's Restaurant offers Somali as well as Mediterranean Food. Most dishes are about $10 however the portions are very fair and the dishes are served with a bounty of meat to send you off to wonderland, all in all the food is decent and unpretentious. Posted on June 5, 2012 |

★★★★★ Safari grill has moved. Its now across the street about a block west of the 7/11. Alot more parking around back of building and alot of room. They even have a big section with curtains to take family. Now they also serve halal pizza. Posted on January 5, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ I can not justify the five starts other reviewers have given, but to each their own. This place is in a pretty run down area. Like other have mentioned, there were all men in the small restaurant. We (my family and I) initially meant to eat their, but decided to take the food back to the hotel. There was not soap in the bathroom.
The customer service was definitely great, they were polite and professional and they are priced reasonable.
Their food was OK only, it was bland, nothing I can give good reviews for. We had the lamb gyro sandwich and chicken with rice, and both were just OK. They do give a banana to each customer. Posted on June 13, 2011 |

★★★★☆ I have tested the rise and chicken kabob of this restaurant. The quality of rice was excellent and I feel the taste always. The kabob was most delicious I have ever eaten. Definitely I can recommend anyone to enjoy the truly Halal foods with a great taste and complete satisfaction. There are many restaurant in the area you will see for Halal foods. But you may not completely trust. In this restaurant and nearby store named Minehaha, the owner is pious and pray 5-times. I trust them completely as a serviceholder for halal foods. May Allah prosper, help and forgive us all. Posted on May 29, 2011 |

★★★★☆ I would give this place 5 stars if they can fix it up a little bit. But the food was definitely great and the prices very reasonable. This is more like a brothers joint since this place seems to be full of men mostly. The service is good. I would definitely recommend this place if you want excellen food at a low budget. ★★★★★ The only reason I registered on zabihah.com is to leave a review for this place.
I visited this place with my husband on a trip to San Diego. The food here was AMAZING esp the rice and beef kababs were the best i ever had. Not only was the food absolutely delicious but it was also very cheap.I would recommend this place to every1 who plans to visit San Diego. Inshallah if I ever get a chance to go there again I definitely would want to eat here again. Posted on December 17, 2010 |

★★★★★ As we were visiting San Diego me and my friends decided to try this place based on good reviews. When we first arrived we felt like we're in a whole different place with groups of Somalian men eating and chatting in their language. The staffs were nice and we felt welcomed.
While waiting for our orders we were served with bananas. I ordered rice and chicken and MasyaAllah, it tastes so amazingly great! I've never had Somali food before, but this is so good I couldn't even describe it. Plus, it was a really huge serving, me and my friend shared together but we still couldn't finish it. And the whole meal with bananas and a drink was only for $8! My friend ordered another drink and the staff gave it for free. Considering that we shared the meal, it costs us only $4 per person. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. With their good food and generosity, may Allah bless them with good business and great customers. Posted on December 3, 2010 |

★★★★★ I created my account on 'Zabiha Halal' just to post a review about this fabulous place. As someone said earlier, its a diamond in the rough and I can't agree more on that. We were visiting San Diego for a week and decided to try this place due to its high ratings.... We arrived around 9:30PM and it was closed. The owner came out to our car to apologize and asked us to visit again next day. he also told us a couple of other halal places in the neighborhood but all of them were closed by that time.
We went there the next day and the place was packed with Somali brothers. We waited in our cars until they all went for Maghrib prayer and that gave us room to sit inside. The owner/host was extremely nice, very humble and treated us like royalties. We were two families (8 people) and ordered some kabab plates along with rice and Shawarma etc. He served us with green salad first and one plate was more than enough for two people but he continued to bring more until we told him to stop. The portions of the main course were VERY generous and even if you have a large appetite, you wouldn't be able to finish one plate. So order carefully. And the taste of food was AMAZING.... it couldn't be better than anything. And the prices were ridiculously cheap...I couldn't believe that our whole order was $26 that included ginormous salad plates, four dishes of kababs, sandwithces etc along with drinks.... The owner asked where did we hear about their place and I told him that it was on Zabihah halal.com. They thanked us for visiting their place... and What a pleasure it was to visit this place. They also own the grocery store next door.
I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who's visiting San Diego and is looking for Halal food. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Posted on July 10, 2010 |

★★★★★ we were visiting sd and looking for some halal places to eat on zabihah. safari grill had pretty high ratings so we decided to try it. the other raters are right on par. it is a humble place.. only a few items on the menu. however, it is soooo tasty...! and the portions are very generous.. and the prices are quite reasonable. the people are super duper nice... my three kids (2 babies) were starving.. so the guy immediately brought them each a banana as an "appetizer!" so nice! a really cute masjid is in walking distance, too. we even got a couple of dry gyro sandwiches to go for the plane ride home! best food we had in san diego, hands down! ★★★★★ The food is tasty and excellent. They fish fillet is also great. The staff is very courteous, generous and welcoming. The place looks modest from inside and where it is located in a small plaza but it is excellent. You would feel that you are at a relative's house. Posted on December 4, 2009 |

★★★★★ Salams. This place by far has THE best Gyro's from the rest of the zabihah restaurants in SD. They have a simple menu, but the food is BOMB. They HOOK YOU UP with so much food that you pretty much get two meals for the price of one. Save some for the next day :). Ive taken plenty of other people (from many different ethnicities) to this restaurant and everyone's loved it thus far. May Allah bless the owners for their kindness and generosity, and may Allah bless their business. Assalamu Alliakum. Posted on October 17, 2009 |

★★★★★ This place has a very modest exterior and even more modest interior, but the food was fantastic! If you just want a simple but extremely flavorful meat and rice dish this is one of the best in town. The other patrons were entirely somali and none of us were. They understood a little arabic and english so we got along fine. 5 of us ate great for 40 bucks. We'll definitely be back. Posted on April 14, 2009 |

★★★★★ Salamou Alukoum All, this place is Diamond in the Rough. The places we go to should not just be Halal only it should be Halal and taste great. I am truly disappointed that no one as of yet wrote a review about this place. I took two people with me, my Son who is my best friend and my cousin. Since the place caters for Somalis I thought we are going to stand like a sour thumb since we were not Somalis. It was the contrary; the manager was great I truly felt I was at my own brother's house. He welcomed us and took care of the order. Next was the food. I was not sure what Somali’s food taste like. Their food was the best. I never had rice and chicken that tasted so GREAT. I wish they expand their dining area because this place is a truly home cooking and very very delicious. I love food and I eat out a lot. So if you want to go to a simple place and have the best food then Safari Grill is yours. But if you are one of these people who get taken by fancy decor and lousy food then this is not yours. I might add there was a Halal store next to them and it was an awesome place. This is a great place to come eat and go shopping after. The prices were very reasonable and I cannot wait to go there again. Posted on April 13, 2008 |
