★★★★★ This was at their new location on Fredericksburg road.
So, we went here and I was scared! I was dreading the service. Well we were pleasantly surprised! The daughter was very nice. She was helpful and explained the food would take a while and we were fine with that. Food was amazing! The rest of the staff seem to wonder around aimlessly, whilst she did most of the work. Met the owner on the way out and he again was a very nice guy, chatted with him for a few minutes before we left.
All in all, we really enjoyed the meal and would go back again. Posted on August 13, 2014 |

★★☆☆☆ The service is really bad. We went there couple of days ago for a late lunch. There was specials for day board on the counter as we entered. Anyhow, we were asked to take a seat at table
Number 13. So we did. The waitress came and explained that almost half the items on the menu were not available. So I asked can we just order what’s on specials board, we were told that it was was for the weekend only. So I said either take the board away or erase it with wet cloth as it’s written in chalk. Why would display a daily specials board. This was the repo se from” As you can see I am very busy and I don’t have time to do that” . Are you ready to order. So I did, order Karachi chicken and chicken biryani. … after 10 minutes another girl probably owners daughter or some relative comes us tells us the they will serve biryani but with chicken . I am like why? And says to me that they are of chicken and that SHE actually likes rice better without the chicken…I can go on and on..
Anyhow, only authentic Pakistani restaurant in San Antonio. So not much of a choice .. a little pricey too Posted on December 31, 2021 |

★★★☆☆ Desi meal is incomplete without good naan, something that this restaurant doesn't know how to make but charge high for it. The food taste was good. We went with the recommendations posted here (bihari, chicken tawa, chicken boti). Next time, if we ever visit San Antonio, we will get real naan or pita from some place else and the main dishes from here. OVERALL: Food: 4/5 , Naan: 0/5, Cust Svc: ? ambiguous, Price for portions: 2/5. Posted on December 26, 2019 |

★★★★☆ Very good food especially bihari kabab, tawa chicken, tawa fish, daal and naan. The only thing I would say is that the food is very spicy and their prices are also on the higher side. Otherwise a great place for pakistani food. Posted on September 23, 2018 |

★☆☆☆☆ Just an update right after the review the owner
Miss Salma called me at 11:20 PM and basically yelled at me for writing this review.
Kohinoor is The Most horrible place to eat.
We placed an order for dine in.
When we arrived the owner Miss Salma, said she has our order to go instead of dine in.I never said that we were going to take out.The owner Miss Salma said that
She can’t serve us the food as it’s to take out.
I explained to her that we are here with big family and kids and would like to dine in.
The owner Miss Salma said OK let me see What I can do but it’s very difficult situation.
She was talking and behaving like I am eating there for free.
I told her that the server is very polite and he already told us that he will take care of the situation and bring us our food but she said I am the owner I decide not him.I make the decisions as I am the owner.
All this argument from the owner while our two families are getting our kids ready for dinner.
I have never come across more arrogant owner of a restaurant who is so rude, arrogant poor mannered and behaves horribly with her customers and also treats her workers so badly.
The server Mr Manosh was very polite and respectful. The only reason I stayed there to eat was due to good manners of Mr Manosh.
Would not recommend this horrible place to anyone as the Owner Miss Salma thinks that she is doing a big favor to serve food to her customers who are actually paying for the food.
Avoid avoid avoid this place. Posted on December 24, 2017 |

★★★★☆ Pretty good for a San Antonio restaurant...but I totally recommend you guys to visit the restaurants in Houston...especially a place called royal best kharai gosht in the nation. Just three hours down the road. Totally worth the time. Posted on August 22, 2016 |

★★★★★ It's an awesome restaurant, the food kind of takes a while but that worth it because they make a reaalu awesome food i recommend butter chicken and bihari kabab and chicken booti and parata and the mango shake is really good
Overall, thee restaurant is highly recommended ! Posted on February 26, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ The only reason why this restaurant still survives is because it is the only Pakistani return in the town. The owner and her daughter are probably the best example of rude customer service. the ceiling next to the bathroom is in real bad condition and look like it going to fall any second. the food taste very nice however it is really spicy even according to Pakistani standards they use a very bad quality food coloring which leaves its colors on your hand. the menus seem like they are at lease 10 years old and instead of printing new one they have put tape over the old price and written new one by hand which makes it increasingly difficult to read. If you still want to go to this restaurant be prepared to wait At least 30 minutes for most dishes and 45-60 minutes for some of the BBQ dishes. and there prices are expensive compare to other Pakistani returants in texas. ★★★☆☆ Recently relocated to San Antonio, and wanted to try out halal desi food.
Pizza sized paratha and fresh naan get 4 star; otherwise I tried chicken karahi and tawa chicken (chicken was not tender enough)....which tasted ok (average).
They have outdoor seating, I guess weather permitting, and their ambience is more like cafeteria style but clean.
Staff was friendly and I had parked my car in a wrong spot and was warned about the possibility of being towed away (next door food mart owner is alpha about his parking spots).
Enough space for kids to run around.
I would go back to this place before I make up my mind and will further update this review.
Food is pricey compared to East coast. Posted on January 27, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ One word to describe them......rude. I came from Houston and did not expect this treatment especially since I was a paying customer. When the food arrived it was undercooked so we left the order on the table and left. Posted on January 8, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ I usually don't take the time to write negative reviews. Also I have very lenient expectations. If the food is half-way decent then I don't mind bad customer service as long as I see that they are trying. This place gave me the worst dining experience of my life and I eat out a lot and I am a world traveler. To avoid getting any emotions involved in the review, I will just state the facts. We called the place to check what time they open. They said 1:00PM so we showed up right at 1:00PM. The moment we walked in, the owner said we don't have any staff yet with an attitude that they are not interested in our business. Anyway we sat down, looked at the menu and thought we should at least get the order in so that we would get the food first since we came first. I had heard about their tawa kabab and paratha. So I went to the counter and asked for those 2 among other things. They said they don't have tawa kabab and the paratha person is not there. No big deal. We replaced those items with tawa shrimp and naan instead. After us about 3 more groups arrived and placed orders as well. After about 20 minutes we saw that the waitress started giving water and salad. For some reason she provided those to everyone but us. So I went to her and asked for water. She looked really annoyed and was shaking her head. After about 5 minutes she brought the water and salad and literally slammed the water on the table. Still no big deal. Then after about a total of over half an hour of waiting, the owners daughter came to our table and said that they don't have tawa shrimp as well. We wanted to give her some feedback about the service experience we had so far. Instead of trying to listen she rudely told us that - Ok I will just cancel your order then. She walked away and on her way we ripped up our order. I could not believe it. I went to the owner and told him what happened. He somehow convinced me to stay and apologized. I just choose another replacement and went back to the table. My attitude was to just quietly eat the food and never come back again. After almost an hour, part of our order arrived. I won't even comment on the food as to me if the service is not merely bad but actually abusive, the quality of the food is irrelevant. How can you enjoy your food in such an environment. The owner brought our remaining order himself and started talking to us. We were giving him some advice on how he needs to take control of his restaurant as such behavior is unacceptable. He gave us a lot of excuses including you know how kids are these days and that he doesn't have enough resources. If you have those problems you need to be extra polite. To me it wasn't an issue of not having enough resources - they were going out of the way to be rude. When we mentioned to him that there are a lot of online reviews talking about the customer service issue, he said that he is not doing this for business purposes - instead its just a hobby. As he was talking to us, his wife came to the table - told us rudely how come we are complaining again - then she yelled at her husband to go help rather than wasting him time there. When they both went to the kitchen we could hear her screaming at the top of her lungs and things banging (no kidding). I should have listened to the other reviewers. In summary this is not your average poor service restaurant. This is abusive and unacceptable treatment of customers. Posted on August 17, 2013 |

★★★★☆ The food is good but very spicy, and I'm Pakistani. If you like spicy food, it's great. But if you like something milder or are bringing a friend who is not used to the spice, I'd be careful.
It takes around 40-45 mins for the food to be served, so be prepared to wait and ask for the wait time when you order.
Service is ok, but can be vastly improved. We asked for an extra glass, but it never came. We were served someone else's mango lassi etc. Posted on July 8, 2013 |

★★☆☆☆ Strange Customer Service. Lot of Attitude. It was hard for me to figure out the reason for that attitude. I think they are sure that they would get the Muslim customers so they don't care when you go there, they only target other customers. Strange Strategy. Posted on July 30, 2012 |

★★★★★ Some of the best Pakistani food that I have ever had!!! Great service and excellent food. The owners are great people, and want to hear what you want to see to help them grow. Look forward to coming here again next time I'm in town from Houston. Posted on March 28, 2012 |

★★★★★ I would have to say that this was the best experience I have had in a desi restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and when I say delicious, I mean the best pakistani food I have ever had. I have never eaten desi food that has tasted so amazing. But the spices should be milded down just a tad. To add, the place is pretty clean. I dont think i will go to houston or dallas anymore to get food to bring home, san antonio's kohinoor is my new stop. Posted on January 7, 2012 |

★★★★★ Good food , service need help. They need burgers if they get them my non Muslim friends will be all over this place. Us wait is tooooo long. But once again food taste great. Posted on December 30, 2011 |

★★★★☆ After reading about their customer service , I was some what apprehensive , should I go there or not?
But in contrast to the reviews their customer service is very good, the counter girl is very helpful and was constantly asking about everything is ok or not . We ordered tawa chicken, tawa kabab and tawa fish and everything was there in 15- 20 mints.
I like both tawa chicken and fish , not the best in USA , but pretty descent and my kids also enjoyed the food.
So over all a very good food and very nice customer service to our family.
I will definitely go there again if I come back to San Antonio . Posted on December 25, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ We visited this place today based on the reviews on Zabiha.com. The food was very spicy but tasty. The service was horrible, tables were not clean. The condition of bathroom is very bad. Posted on November 25, 2011 |

★★★★★ Food is EXCELLENT. Get their Grilled Items like Seek Kabab, etc... Make sure to order 45 minutes before. Do not get their Nihari though. They take a lot of time to make their food. However, their Grilled items are the best I've ever had in all of Texas. Posted on October 31, 2011 |

★★★★★ super delicious food and excellent service. we visited kohinoor after reading reviews on zabihah.com and it was absolutely correct. Their tawa chicken was to die for. we live in houston and we havent ate anything like it. so if u r in san antonio i would suggest kohinoor is the best place to go. Posted on July 18, 2011 |

★★★★★ Hands down the best Pakistani food u could find in United States. The server is a little rough, but the food will make u come back again and again. Not for the faint of heart who can't stand a 5-10 minute wait though. Posted on June 27, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ I went to San Antonio for small trip with my wife. I have to admit the food is Awesome here we ordered Shrimp Tawa and Chicken Biryani both were really delicious. Only thing I was upset about is the customer service was very poor. my wife ordered kheer 3 times and the girl at the counter did not bring it saying "its busy tonight and I forgot" I mean.. 3 times is horrible and when I asked the Owner about it he says "Kheer chala Gaya" as if it was some sort of joke to him. Good food Bad Service! Posted on May 30, 2011 |

|
★★★★☆ Great food! Others have pointed out but the parathas need special recognition due to the size. Tawa fish, Tawa chicken and Chicken Boti were all good. Authentic Pakistani flavor!
Since it is run by owners and despite some unhappy people as you have been reading.....not being from San Antonio, I can tell you that I did not feel ignored or over looked, yes they are vey busy and you have to be patient. But we will definitely visit again every time we are in San Antonio! Posted on March 20, 2011 |

★☆☆☆☆ VERY Poor Service.
THese guys are very rude. So I am not sure if I will ever go there again. When asked about customer service they said they just do not care about it. Food wise they are Okay not great. Everything looks like laced with lots of turmeric. Posted on December 31, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ We stopped in while driving to Houston. We ordered the chicken tikka masalla, bun kabob and some naan. The food was good, but the naan was exceptional. The service was ok, perhaps because there was a large party going, we felt somwhat ignored. General cleanliness was ok. Posted on December 3, 2010 |

★★★★☆ ok service but excellent food. Tried their tawa-chicken, tawa-beef and nehari - all good. Biryani was so so.

★★★★★ Excellent food. Very friendly people. Owner speaks Arabic, Urdu, Sindhi and English. All Tawa dishes are excellent. Nice and clean environment. I was in San Antonio for four days. I ate three days in a row at Kohinoor. Posted on June 12, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ I must say first and foremost that the food was great, in fact that led us to visit this place on regular basis in spite of pathetic decor and ambiance. However I have noticed considerable deterioration of service with each passing day. I was amused waiting there for my food to arrive and seeing people leaving from the restaurant. None of the restaurant owners or employees cared a thing. Now coming to the employees, there are none in fact, it is run by owners whole family. Naturally they are stressed out and unable to focus on customer service. These guys have become very arrogant lately thinking that they would have zero focus on customer service. We will NEVER go again. NEVER. These guys have lost one family forever, but it does not matter to them. Posted on April 3, 2010 |

★★★★★ I have a mixed family, my husban is Indian, I am American and my daughter can't stand spicy food and my son loves it. We all get satisfied here. My favorite is the Tawa Fish and Paratha. I order it every time because it is flavorful, but not too spicy. My husband loves all their dishes. I don't think there is anything there we have not liked. Posted on January 4, 2010 |

★★★★★ We recently moved from Oklahoma to Texas and found this restaurant through Zabiha.com. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of food here. Their Tawa dishes are unique and delicious. Their parathas and rotis are Texas-size (i.e. huge)!! It's owned and run by a very friendly Pakistani family. Anyone visiting San Antonio must check them out. Posted on December 7, 2009 |

★★★★★ I love this place. we go to this place every month. Everytime we find the same taste of food. taste is mind blowing. i been to other places as well but didn't find match for Kohinoor. In San Antonio, TX, Kohinoor is the best place to have Indian-Pakistani Cusine. Services is also good. Whole family serves the customer and treat the customer as friend and family member. Its a kind of personalise service they provide. Posted on November 29, 2009 |

★★★★★ Ummm no, that's ridiculous. Anytime I with my family, or anyone I send, or anyone I even know comes, they fully enjoy the food. None of us have EVER had anything less than complete and satisfying service. I suspect you (the person below me) is the owner of a competing restaurant in San Antonio and is trying to accumulate bad reviews on Kohinoor so they can take the customers. I'm disappointed. I've come to be friends with the owners and they are hard working people who love cooking and cook each of their items with love and care. Someone who puts such people down is not okay with me. And, may I add, each of the food to go comes out perfect, they make it right when you order it, and they'll get angry if you order and come late cause they're afraid of the food getting cold. does the review of the person below me sound correct at all? no way. Nihari? yeah it's only on weekends, shouldn't everyone know that by now? and if they don't have naan... they have paratha, and everyone loves their paratha... and naan, they can make it, and they do, they want to perfect it before they sell it.. got a problem with that? yeah and you know what they had a guy who made naans, they fired him. so they're getting back on track slowly. and catering of course is wonderful, everything they do is wonderful. so really, shut up, and no one even BOTHER about the guy below me. and I'm sorry you guys for such a long reply, I was just so outraged by this stupid guy. ★★★☆☆ After reading all the reviews I went to the resturant with the family. The food is very good, no doubt, but the service and decore is not so good. Their rest rooms were small but clean. They push their expensive dishes, and service is non existant. More than half the dishes on the menu were not available. Price are high compare to Houston and Dallas markets and does not include Naan or Rice. They really like to Push their Huge Oversized Roti or Paratha. Overall I would recommand if you like tasty food and can ignore bad service. Posted on July 15, 2009 |

★★★★★ the Best best best best food i had in the last three years after coming to US.

★★★★★ Great food. I think this is the best restaurant I have tried so far in Texas. And believe me I have tried most of them in Austin and Houston area.
Try their tawa chicken, tawa fish, chicken karahi paratha and tea at the end. Posted on December 24, 2008 |

★★★★★ This food is radical... like lordy it is the ambrosia of heaven. When I get started I CANNOT stop like absolutely not. I love Tawa Chicken so much and Chicken Boti... mmm and tawa fish... OOWIE!.. this is the best food in the world... nothing can compare... I want to try ALL of their other dishes... PARATHAS HOLY HELL... they are a wack attack... beautiful and psycho HUGE! when i ate them it was like the attack of the delicious bread... when I come here I literally have to be restrained from attacking the food when it arrives all smoky and beautiful... I wish I could take a picture of it all and hang it my room... I LOVE KOHINOOR... and there aint no argument further... YUMMM!! Posted on December 18, 2008 |

★★★★★ Good food. Tried the paratha, it's not your mom's paratha. It's at least as large (diameter) as an extra large pizza. Delicious. Had tawa kabab and tawa chicken, both were tasty, not too spicy and looked great. Service was slow, which is a good thing since it means they made it when I ordered it. Ordered tea and they served doodh patti (milk tea), which is ordinarily not served in restaurants, so that's another big plus. Posted on December 17, 2008 |

★★★★★ OMG! I LOVE KOHINOOR! The food is just a burst of flavours in my mouth. The parathas are gigantic. They should trademark it so nobody steals the idea. The tawa fish and tawa chicken are out of this world. The chicken boti, tawa kabab, and beef boti are insanely amazing. You must tryit. If you haven't, you haven't experienced the best food ever!
