★★★☆☆ Food: B
Price: B
Convenience: C
Overall: B
Some foods may NOT be what you expect (read below), portions are SMALL, and they do NOT deliver to all of Pasadena.
As for portions, it's a regular small pita bread, not the usual bigger wrap most restaurants use (that I've been to). That was disappointing. They only deliver within a few miles, not sure what exactly, but if you're by Old Town Pasadena you're out of luck (I think it's a 10-15 min drive and they refused to do it). which was fine, my hubby drove to pick up the food, because they're Halal after all and that's a big deal to us.
Unfortunately when he got home with the sandwiches, they were NOT what we expected at all. Shawarma was NOT that, but rather looked like big fat meat chunks manually cut (looked like what was in my chicken KABAB sandwich, but just cut up a bit)... we often have shawarma so we can tell when it's not right. And this was quite off.
You may be surprised that their kabab is Not a kabab in that usual sense. In my world, kabab= GROUND meat spiced, flavored and put into a PATTY. This was just a plain boring Big chunk of meat. Not marinated, not spiced. Plain and dry.
First I thought this restaurant was misleading/tricking me with wrong use of words or just totally messing up the order, but I'm discovering some arabs just define the word 'kabab' that way. So beware about the definition issue if you go here.
Their food was edible and fine, but I may not do the drive again. Wahibs either had alcohol or dancers, can't remember which, plus they come across like one of those places that feel like they're doing you a favor by providing halal. I don't like supporting places like that.
Well, enjoy what we get I guess.

★★☆☆☆ I have been here twice and I don't think I will go there any more. I don't like the service they provide. The food in the menu looks different from what they serve. We have tried chicken, lulah kabob, and hamburger and none of them were very tasty to me. Last time, we ordered the chicken and it seems they already cooked it and put it in the fridge. When we ordered it they simply put it in the oven and bring it to us. Inside the chicken was still cold and we told the lady but she didn't care and said no it is hot!!! We never go back there. ★★★☆☆ Nice place. The food according to the owner comes from Restaurant Depot in Pasadena which gets it from other halal sources. The portion is a little less but I think it's appropriate with the price. Their special Burger combo is pretty good as far as the price is concern. They charge a little extra if you pay by credit card. Overall a nice place and the service is very fast. They do cater as well. Posted on November 22, 2010 |

★★★★☆ Food:I had the beef kabob sandwich, chicken shawarma sandwich and rice pudding.
Comments: The food was good and tasty. Four stars only because i didnt think it was phenomenal (Shawarma is very important to me and must be done right), but it was very, very good nonetheless; definitely above average. I HIGHLY recommend the rice pudding, it tastes great and is cheap, worth the price.
Price overall for their menu seemed average, what you would typically pay for this kind of food elsewhere.
The preparation was clean and so was the cooking.
Overall; 'A' in my book. Posted on April 24, 2010 |
