★★☆☆☆ This place is one of the worst South Asian cuisine places I have had here in US. Nice atmosphere but food was horrible. Tikka was dry and not spicy at all and the seekh kabob tasted old and not even hot. Extremely expensive and small portions. This is the only poor I have given among the tens Posted on August 6, 2018 |
|
|
★★☆☆☆ The food is barely restaurant quality. Definitely not a professional chef cooking. However, they charge chef prices. I'm not one to normally not support halal businesses, but this restaurant is just a waste of your money. Nothing was particularly tasty. Posted on March 1, 2016 |

★★☆☆☆ Expensive place, with average service, and long delays. The portions are incompatible with the prices. The only good thing I enjoyed were the naans. Posted on June 8, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ The food was everage with poor customer sevice and its very very expencive Not recomended Posted on March 17, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ I read bad reviews but I still want to give a shot; not a good place to go. Good was really bad and insane rates. Posted on November 14, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ Way too expensive and small portions. There are far better Desi places nearby, like Sizler Indian Restaurant just across the street. Also I find the sign hilarious: "Authentic Indian Cuisine" written in English with "Halal Pakistani" written in Urdu. LOL. Definitely a tourist trap. Posted on November 9, 2014 |

NR Horrible service. Poor and pricy food. Don't waste your money here. Posted on December 24, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ If you want to eat really bad tasting Desi food at outrageously high prices, you should go there. However the location is convenient and close Universal Studios.
The owner rightly added 20% service charge to our total (because we had 7 or more in our party) but upon asking the waiter, it turned out that the waiter does not get that 20%. I am not a lawyer but I am sure this is illegal. Posted on September 12, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ I do agree with so many reviews here. I was in Orlando last week and I visited this place for dinner with my family. The prices were a bit on the higher side. Whatever the food I ordered was hopeless. And I received the food in almost one hour. Not only we, others were also served similarly. And yes, the waiter looked like half sleepy or drunk. ★☆☆☆☆ Visited from Houston to Orlando for a Conference. Thier prices are insane and food was beyond bad. STAY AWAY from this terrible place. Posted on June 27, 2013 |

★★★★☆ I had my food delivered to my hotel. They delivered fairly quickly and the food tasted well. It definitely was pricey, but worth the convenience of not having to drive there. Posted on May 4, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ This was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. The service was extremely poor. We had to wait over an hour for our food and the waiter did not seem to be interested in providing us with service. The food did not taste good at all and we found a piece of long hair in the Biryani. When we tried speaking to the manager he refused to even come out. I would never eat at this place even if the food was free. Posted on August 27, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Being a student on a budget (and having no car access), there are not THAT many halal places on international drive i can choose from. I choose this one because is was closest to the hotel and was halal and seemed clean. The prices are little expensive as already mentioned a couple of times, probably due to the location. Mango lassi was 4 dollar + tax, and chicken biryani ~17 dollar + tax, and they add 15% tip to the final bill.
The mango lassi i think did not taste that much of Mango, and have tried better than this. The boneless chicken biryani was acceptable but not great in any way. I was served by the owner who seemed like a kind man, and also changed the first mango lassi for me, because of my unsatisfaction with the high sugar level. I really think he WANTS to run a succesfull business, but needs some help to improve it. So its not like he doesn't care or anything like some other restaurants I have been to. It is a absolute PLUS, the restroom has a waterhose. Sometimes I don't understand supposedly HALAL places and muslim owners, having no hose or water container(which doesn't cost more than 4$), when cleaniness is an integrated part of Islam, and something most muslims learn at the youngest possible age. This alone gives it one more star, otherwise would have graded it average. I would go there again, because of my limited options on I-Drive. I have tried one other competitor, which wasn't at all better in terms of great tasting indian food. Posted on January 7, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ Hey guys. I was vacationing at universal studios and was staying at international drive. One night i decided to check out shalimar because it was close to my hotel and i was craving some bryani. I ordered the bryani and the total was 17 dollars. Thats expensive but if the food tasted good i wouldnt of minded. I got the bryani with raita. I sear the bryani looked like some boneless chicken salan under some rice. The raita was disgusting. The raita had the same consistency as wall paper glue. I have never seen anything like it before. If you stick a fork in the raita the gluey substance would pull but not separate. It was literally like glue. The bryani itself tasted like it was just getting ready to spoil. It really ruined my night. you guys judge for your self. I am never going here again. ★★☆☆☆ outrageously expensive and food was just ordinary. I ordered just two briyani and one nihari and the bill was $71!!!!... one single naan cost $2.75!!. The worst part was, when you buy a nihari a $17.50 value!! it came without naan so you have to pay $2.75 to eat that!!!. I would recommend everyone to refrain from going there unless they change the prices... The service was not bad though thats the only reason I did not give them "Very Poor Posted on December 1, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ this is probably one of the most expensive places i have ever been to..the prices left me shellshocked for what you are getting in return..they are very mindful as to how much food is being served and the portions are strictly controlled, even getting water to our table was problematic. this place is left best for unsuspecting tourists..the naans came out fresh and hot,.the rice was very dry.tasted like it was thawed out and the meat was cooked up and mixed in..not worth it at all. ★☆☆☆☆ Overpriced bad food. Not a good combination there. Located just a couple of miles away from Universal Studios but the place was a major dissapointment.
I have no problem paying more for good food but this place left a sour taste. The food is overpriced and the portions are really small. Nihari was ok (portions were small) but everything else was average at best. Posted on August 11, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ No Way!! Stale, microwaved food, really pathetic service, dirty dining hall and filthy bathrooms... I cannot believe how is still in business!? Perhaps, 'coz he's located on I-drive aka "tourist trap". There are 2 other halal joints directly across the street. Posted on July 3, 2010 |

★★★★★ I would give a very true review of this place. I was on business trip and took my family along with me too my wife and my son. We were there for 8 days and its was on the 7th day we found out about this place and ended up here. We really wanted to eat real Pakistani food. The owner (Aunty) was very friendly and the server was very friendly too 5/5. The restaurant and washrooms were 3/5. However the food was really really good. We had Nan, Boneless chicken tikka, Chicken Karhai, Raita Chutney, Salad and believe me we ate like pigs...The food was really good. I definitely recommend people to visit this place for the quality and specially the taste of food. It has real pakistani taste to it. Posted on February 10, 2010 |

★☆☆☆☆ Very poor service, no one attended to us after waiting about 15 minutes. There were two other people who were told 15 minutes wait to be seated and they left after waiting 30 minutes since the owner does not attend people or have the courtesy to explain reason for delay. Posted on January 12, 2010 |

★★☆☆☆ Very poor service , it is about 20 mins kids are still waiting for water.
Food really does not look good.
Price is bit expensive.
Very noisy here.
Should have read reviews. Posted on December 23, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Made the bad choice of not checking the reviews before going to this restaurant. The food is awfully overpriced, plus some of the chicken was raw- not cooked thoroughly.
We got the seekh kabab, biryani and chicken tikkas - the food was not bad overall (except the chicken tikka which part of it was uncooked), but v. pricey and not at all worth the money. Posted on December 18, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Wow the food at Shalimar was beyond bad. The prices were insane. The chicken was not even cooked all the way. There was no type of good food. Posted on August 15, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Worst and the most expensive nihari I have ever had. $18 a plate for crappy food. Seriously avoid this place or atleast don't ever bother buying nihari from here. Posted on February 12, 2009 |

|
★★★☆☆ JUST ORDERED THE BIRYANI TO GO. THE PRICES ARE INSANE.....$18.00 FOR CHICKEN TIKKA THAT ONLY REQUIRES 1 NAAN! THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE LOCATION AND TRY TO OVER PRICE ITEMS. BIRYANI WAS THE ONLY THING WE GOT AND IT WAS $16.00. IT WAS GOOD NO DOUBT....BUT VERY EXPENSIVE!
WE NEVER WENT BACK.... Posted on February 6, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ I'm so bad at cooking, that I even burn water. But i'll tell you what; i beat this chef under the table. The food here is a joke and the only reason this place is open is because it's on international drive and always has some tourist that can be lured in. Smart man! Posted on August 13, 2008 |
|
|
★☆☆☆☆ The food taste was very bad and the service was very slow, the waiters unaware of what ingredient of meals ! but they were friendly.I will never think to go back to again ! Posted on August 3, 2008 |

★☆☆☆☆ Despite expensive food reviews, has anyone notice, Halal with Heiniken beer.:) yes they are selling alcohal freely to entertain tourist @ International Drive. Please read the full menu especially beverages section. I hate to say that but this is not what zabihah is stands for... Posted on June 8, 2008 |

★★★★★ I went to dine in with my family at this restaurant about a month ago. The service and the quality and taste of food were excellent! The Nans were freshly baked, the Biryani tasted great, and the Nihari was also very good. We didn't like the Kababs as much though. Overall, it was a a very good dining experience. We liked the food so much that we had to go back again the next day. I would give it 9 out of 10. Posted on January 5, 2008 |

★☆☆☆☆ Do not eat here - the food is very expensive, the service was extrenely poor (our waitress was a white girl who knew nothing about the food). The food took over an hour to come as they were not that busy, but were understaffed. Over an hour we waited after ordering and with two young hungry children aged 5 and 3 that is not acceptable even though we kept asking them to please provide the kids food first so we can settle down a bit. My wife ordered Lahori fish expecting it to have some masala or spice to it, but received a battered fish as you would with fish and chips! I had a lamb bhuna and it was very poor and meat was chewy and not fresh. The Pilau rice we had was old and inedible. The childrens food eventually arrived (chicken nuggets and fries) but they refused to eat it because they had cooked then in old oil, so the fries were half covered in old black bits and the whole experience was shocking. When we got the bill they had charged us for the kids meals (even though the sign outside said kids eat free with adult meals purchased). The fact that the children did not eat and went to sleep hungry and tired really annoyed us as this was supposed to be a treat given the expensive prices they were charging. I would never ever go back here again and recommend you go to another establishment where there is at least no alcohol being openly served and they have apna staff who understand your language. ★☆☆☆☆ Would not recommend it to my worst enemies! The food is bland and very expensive and the service very very slow. Avoid at all costs! Posted on July 6, 2007 |

★★☆☆☆ The food is very low in quantity and very expensive 15.50 for veal or chicken balti Posted on April 13, 2007 |

★☆☆☆☆ My Dear Brothers & Sisters,
I went to this restaurant with a coupon. The restaurant owner made up a story that the coupon is not accepted. Second, they added the service charge included in the price at the rate of 20%.
The Food was horrible, the taste was not so good.
The food was very expensive for the quality and the price we paid.
Owner is Not a Muslim.
I am not sure, the food being served is Halaal or Zabiha as they told us that it cannot be verified.
Owner overcharged us and ripped us !
Absolutely - Not Worth Going Next time.

★☆☆☆☆ If you are thinking of going there, you've been warned. All the reviews here are very true which we found first hand : expensive, dirty environment, poor service, half cooked tandoori chicken on the buffet, awful bathrooms : generally very yucky place!! Posted on September 1, 2006 |

|
★★☆☆☆ Positive:
The restaurant is easy to find.
Negative:
Food is tasteless and for the price we paid, it is considered as horribly expensive....not much value for money. Also serves beer and liquor Posted on June 27, 2006 |

★★☆☆☆ I ate at this restaurant during a stay in orlando. The restaurant was expensive and I found the food to be inedible. The restaurant was very unclean, the floors were dirty and the bathrooms were dispicable. They have a huge sign that says HALAL MEATS out front. I happened by their yellow pages ad which states "Muslim Restaurant." What kind of "MUSLIM RESTAURANT" serves alcohol? STAY AWAY Posted on April 19, 2006 |
|
|
★★★☆☆ They assured me that the meat is Zabiha prepared by Muslims. We ate lunch bufet twice during our vacation. Few varieties, but the taste is good. The service is not the best but for vacationing this place is good Posted on December 22, 2005 |

★☆☆☆☆ The food was very very expensive and very little in quantity. The food was not fresh and was tasteless. I don't think that this is a Pakistani resturant. Posted on October 26, 2005 |

|
★★★☆☆ We had made reservations for about 20 people (not having visited the restaurant before) and were assured that we could be accomodated. The restaurant was very small and of course we were very cramped along with the few additional diners present. The service was extremely poor and the waiters very unattentive. Food was average with the exception of the Sizzlin' Chicken Tikka which was amazing. Posted on July 27, 2005 |

★★☆☆☆ I found that this restaurant was quite expensive , and that the porions were small.Aditionaly, I think that the owner overcharged us and was dishonest .
Also this establishment serves alcohol, so I am unsure as to the halaal status.
In summary, I would not recommend this restaurant. Posted on July 8, 2005 |

★☆☆☆☆ I had a chance to eat at Shalimar few years ago and food was horrible and extremely poor customer service. Stay away Posted on December 25, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ My hotel conceriage recommended this restaurant to me after my personal list from zabiha.com could not find close enough restaurants. He made reservations for my wife and I. We got there a little earlier and sitted promptly. The owner came out and I asked about the halal status and he said Salaam and reassured me. The dishes we ordered were the best we had so far during our vacation stay (please see my other reviews for a better place). The decor was like for a fast food Indian restaurant, but the prices seemed to be for a much fancier place. Also, the service was slow and I had to get the waiter's attention anytime I needed anything. I did like its location because it allowed me to see other, better, South Asian restaurants along the same street. Posted on November 8, 2004 |
|
|
★☆☆☆☆ This was my worst restaurant experience ever. I paid $8.99 a person for the buffet and i wasn't even asked if I wanted to drink something. The buffet had only 6 trays of food, three were empty, and only one tray had food that can be eaten. The restaurant was dirty and there were no clean dishes to use. Moreover, as I said before the price was $8.99 per person and there was 2 of us and he charged us $21.82 (we didn't order anything other than the buffet). That means that he stole some money because when you add the tax it wouldn't add up to the total. Posted on August 15, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ Located on the Internatioal Dr, close to alot of hotels and ornage county convention center. I had the chance to order something for to go (March-2004). to be honest, I'm not sure if the owner is Muslim, but I have strong feeling that he is not. one of the staff is for sure Muslim (from Moroco). Pricy for one person and took long time to have my order done. The owner welcomed me and tried to convince me that he's Muslim. the decoration is not very bad. but again I can not say for sure if the owner is Muslim (just strong personal feeling) Posted on April 2, 2004 |

★★☆☆☆ Lunch for two: $57.00 with gratuity added to the bill
Food was bad!
The day I and my wife went to the restaurant two families walked out because the buffet chicken smelled. Another family walked out because there were not enough servers.
In summery, bad food, slow service, High priced. The one waiter there was very nice though. Posted on January 4, 2004 |

★★★☆☆ Buffet is good. Reasonably priced. Owners are muslims. Meat is Halal/Zabihah. Evenings are rushed. Palak Paneer, Kababs are good. A La Carte is expensive. Posted on December 28, 2003 |

★★★☆☆ Owner is not muslim. Food is very expensive. Aftari for two person billed $51. Posted on November 11, 2002 |
