Nando's was reported closed or not Halal 2 months ago Nando's Flame-Grilled PERi-PERi Chicken tantalizes tastebuds all over Canada. But even as we grow, our aim is not to be another chain of restaurants. We want each Nando's restaurant to be individual reflecting the local characteristics of each area. Visit some of our restaurants and you will see that although they serve the same great chicken, each one has something unique. This includes many restaurants that serve halal chicken. We are known for our PERi-PERi chicken, which has a truly unique taste. Fresh, never frozen, A-grade chickens are butterfly-cut and immediately marinated in the top-secret Nando's marinade for a full 24 hours to ensure that the flavour penetrates right through the meat. The chicken is flame-grilled right in front of you and basted thoroughly in your choice of sauce: Lemon & Herb for the not so brave, Medium PERi-PERi for the slightly more adventurous and Hot or Extra Hot PERi-PERi for the real daredevils. Flame-grilling the chicken means that half the fat of the chicken literally disappears in the process, and the result - the finest tasting chicken in the world. The staff of this restaurant has verbally confirmed halal status. Not all Nando's outlets offer halal chicken, but the outlets listed here have been known to do so. Please check with the individual outlet first. From the management: 'All our restaurants in Ontario serve halal chicken.'

★★★☆☆ This reviewer has been to this restaurant once. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and parking is readily available in the parking lot. The roasted chicken is very good, but pricey and overall only a fair value. The chocolate cake is excellent. Overall, a decent but unremarkable meal at a higher than expected price. NR I am no scholar however, you may want to read the following article and decide for yourself if Maple Lodge is Halal or not. I think it is quite clear from this article that Maple Lodge is not Halal. Posted on March 11, 2011 |

★★★★★ This Nandos location is great. It is in the upscale neighbourhood of Leaside and a quick drive from Thorncliffe Park, a large Toronto Muslim neighbourhood. This location is a place where Muslims, Yuppies and Muslim Yuppies sit side by side enjoying great chicken.
I was given verbal assurance that the chicken served at this location was halal. I did not see any certificates from any religious authority or any halal symbol displayed.
I always liked Nandos, having dined at this restaurant in Cape Town and London (UK). The chicken at this location is great. The service was friendly and professional.
As mentioned, the halal status of the chicken as of my visit (January 1, 2011) was verbal. I believe that the owner or at least the head chef, is a Muslim named Rashid.
I recommend this location Posted on January 3, 2011 |

★★★★★ I used to be a regular here but now I have a closer one to me in Markham, the food is delicious at any location. Be prepared to wait about 30 minutes on a Friday or Saturday evening cuz it gets busy.... Posted on August 9, 2010 |
