NR When I pulled into the parking lot, I immediately had strong reservations about eating here. From the outside of the restaurant, as plain as day, they had two neon beer signs. I went inside and they had Caribbean music blasting lyrics like "jiggle it, jiggle it" and "take your clothes off"(yet they have signage claiming to be a "family restaurant"). Also, as soon as you walk in, there's Hindu art of the elephant god (aa'ootho billah). I was very confused because on the menu, very prominent on the top is "all meat is halal." I should not have eaten here, point blank. But I did. It took some time for the food to come and the waitress got my order wrong and insisted that I ordered what she'd brought me because that's what she wrote down. The food wasn't anything to write home about. All and all, no Muslim should eat here and I don't know why I decided to stay and have a meal. Clearly, the only thing "halal" about this restaurant is that they get their meat from a box marked "halal". And honestly, that's even questionable. Posted on May 10, 2014 |

★★★★★ Based on the review in 2011 I'd thought we'd go visit and if it was not halal etc we'd go else where. Asked the waiter who told us that the restaurant caters for Muslims, does not serve any pork on the food menu and is halal. With the Bollywood music and IPL I felt I was in safe hands. There was a drinks and stools set up in the corner but we sat on the opposite side and it was all really clean so we didn't notice. The philipino/new York waitress was a delight from start to finish. Really bubbly and chatty asked for drinks first and explained the menu. It's a Guyanese / Chinese menu and I chose a goat curry. I've never had goat before and this was a fab intro. It was really soft and tastier than lamb. I was offered a rice or Dahl roti with the meal and the Dahl roti was awesome. My bro had the lamb curry and rice. It was nice too. The portions are just right to fill stomachs to the brim. All in all an awesome place. People should promote these guys as a solid halal eatery maybe that'll help them get rid of the bar and be proud of serving halal. Posted on April 26, 2013 |

★★★★☆ My brother and I tried this place for lunch last week. The staff gave us verbal assurance that the food is 100% halal, and they have halal printed on their flyers.
As for the dine-in environment, it was ok, except that there was music playing and a bar in the restaurant. However, it is clean and comfortable. The service was excellent, and the waiter was friendly and helpful. The food was fairly priced. It took a bit of time but when it came out it was fresh. I would give the food 4/5 rating.
The only reason I didn't give this restaurant a 5/5 was the presence of a bar inside. However, I really enjoyed the chicken curry. The menu has fusion Caribbean-Chinese food as well, which sounded really good.
Overall, it's an interesting place to try. I would recommend that you pick up the food to go, as you may not be comfortable eating in a restaurant with a bar. However, it's still a must-try due to the interesting menu options. Posted on December 5, 2011 |
