The staff of this restaurant has verbally confirmed halal status. From a visitor: 'Not all items on the menu are halal. They serve items like Sausage, which they confirmed is not halal. Also, Alcohol is served literally right next to you. So you can smell it at all times if you are on that floor.'

★★☆☆☆ Gave this place a shot. Says halal. I ate, but am still not sure about the ethics of it all, as the owner himself serves alcohol at the huge bar. I will not return. Food was just okay. Not authentic Kabuli Pulao. I am Afghan Pashtoon. And I have never seen Kabuli Pulao like the one served here. It gets two stars just because of the decor and service. But I would think twice about their halal claim, while serving alcohol. Posted on August 13, 2024 |

★★☆☆☆ I went to Afghan Kabab house with high expectations but sad to say was disappointed. Even though the staff was super friendly and food proportion was appropriate, but the food was tasteless. I ordered Lamb with kabli pulao with a side order of spinach. I was expecting lamb chop or lamb tikka but I got lamb curry instead. My wife had chicken with kabli pulao and side order of potato. Were expecting mash potatoes but received BIG chunks of Potatoes instead.
Also, food is overpriced. 5 stars for the staff and the location but 1 star for the food. Posted on September 16, 2018 |

★★★★★ Food was fresh. A bit on the expensive side but then you have to pay for the ambience and that fact that it is in West Hartford. Serving size was decent Posted on January 18, 2013 |

★★★★★ I've been to the place quite often it is GREAT.
Let's get the first thing out of the way. The reason they can have a beautiful, well kept restaurant with the cleanest bathrooms and beautiful carpets is because they cater to their local customers: by serving alcohol. It is NOT a negative. Our halal places will remain crappy if we don't offer non muslims some options as well.
That being out of the way, the food is AMAZING. It's just like the afghani restaurants i used to visit in Islamabad (where I'm from), and Jalalabad (where i've visited in the 80's). NOTHING is bad. The best thing to order? Order the PAKORAY for the appetizer. It comes with a hand made chutney that i last ate at a afghani man's roadside stand in Islamabad. I love it. It's a beautiful place where one can take friends family and acquaintances.
It's a bit higher priced then other, but the presentation, experience and the place itself makes up for it. Posted on August 25, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ Visited the restaurent last week.Nice decor and good service. The waiter said except for beef sausage everything is halal.Mainly they serve more fillers like rice then the main item.i ordered the fish with sauce and my husband had lamb chops which was very much limited for the price they charge. No boards stating that they serve halal meat.Serving alcohal is very dissapointing.Mostly targeted for non muslim locals.I wont be visiting this place again.I am rating this one poor becaz its not 100% halal. ★★★★☆ No deliveries but take-outs. Serves alcoholic beverages. Verbal assurance that food was halal. Otherwise, authentic Afghani menue. I recommend the Shami kabab dinner with egg plant with either brown or spinach rice. Posted on May 26, 2005 |
