When the Koh-i-noor first opened in 1964, it was the first Indian restaurant in Gibson Street. In response to its growing popularity, an extension was added in 1974. It continues to be run as a family business-by the present owner, Rasul (or Russell) and his son Waseem, the grandson of the founder. The Koh-i-Noor Restaurant prides itself in the fact that the excellence of the food is matched by the courtesy and efficiency of the service, and by the spotlessness of the kitchens. Koh-i-Noor has been commended by Egon Ronay for many years, and Christopher Drew Smith the Good Food Guide.
