Halal Food Council USA has certified this establishment as offering one or more halal options. The company confirmed via email that all their meat is halal and has provided halal certificates. One from ISWA and one from the Halal Food Council. They get their meat from Washington Lamb and Mountaire Farms Halal Poultry.
★★★★☆ Chipotle type place except that it has a Mediterranean twist and a much larger variety to sample from. Tasty food and generous helpings. A rice bowl with maybe a spoonful each of about half the offerings is actually enough for two people! I was greedy though and ate a rice bowl myself! wife and I went there two days in a row for dinner while we were in the DC/Maryland area. Posted on April 16, 2017
★★★★★ I've been here about 5 times now. I'm going to split up my zabihah rating and food rating:
Zabihah rating: I called and talked to one of the owners. They are not Muslim. But he insisted that all of the meats were halal from day one. He mentioned that due to the nature of the food, he always wanted the meats to be halal. I catered from him for work and then I went in. The responses to halal authenticity have been consistent.
Food:
Great selection! If you've been to Cava, it's very similar. Lots of variety. It's a Chipotle-like restaurant where you build your bowl/wrap. I've had the chicken shawarma and beef shawarma and they've both been good. The toppings were great as well. Unlike Cava, they didn't limit the toppings (like hummus and what not).
