★★★★★ This restaurant serves the best Turkish food in LA. The kofteh is really delicious. The plate with tomato sauce and bread pieces and meat is beyond delicious. The chicken kabob and tikka is very yummy. We almost tried the whole menu and everything was good and above our expectations. Interior Decor is cozy and beautiful. Highly recommend. Service is fast and great. Staff is very nice and friendly. Everything is halal. 5/5!!! Posted on March 1, 2020 |

★★★☆☆ So far, the reviews posted about Mr. Kebap are not reviews; the reviewers have not even had the opportunity to eat at the restaurant because it was not open yet when they wrote their posts ;). We had a confusing experience on our first try of this place last week. The name, first of all, is comical and does not match the classic decor inside the restaurant. While the owners have clearly spent a lot of money on decor and the place is very clean, it is a claustrophobic space, with all the tables on one side of the restaurant. There is only one aisle for people to walk next to the tables, so that, if the waiter is taking orders at a table, anyone wanting to get by him has to wait. The tables are also too close to each other; you can clearly hear the conversations in front of and in back of you. On the other hand, the tableware is very nice. Then again, the service is not smooth. Although the staff was very welcoming and friendly, they kept forgetting to provide serving spoons for shared dishes, like appetizers. But, the appetizers were very good, and the selection of appetizers is much better than at similar restaurants. However, the main dishes were disappointing; they were unimaginative in both appearance and flavoring. The portions were small for the price. I will say, the homemade lemonade was the best I've ever had, with pieces of lemon rind and just the right amount of ice and sweetness; very refreshing. The whole dining experience for our family of 4 was full of highs and lows! I am sorry to give this place an average rating, because I think the owners really have a passion for running a restaurant. I feel it looks like one kind of place but is something else entirely. If the space had been larger, the main dishes better, and the prices in line with the portions, I could overlook the mediocre service, since service can be improved with experience. As it is, we will not be going back. You can not even go there with a party of 5 or more people, because there is no way to seat more than 4 people together. It may be good enough to get take out from there if you are in the area and very hungry. And if you do that, stick with a few appetizers rather than a wrap or plated meal, or you will be disappointed. Posted on August 17, 2015 |
