★★★☆☆ So this was my first time trying North African cuisine. I really did not have much expectations aside from cous cous i have had at other mediocre restaurants; the place is very small yet the brick walls and decor give it a very homey and cozy feel, especially since it was a very cold and snowy night; the appetizers we ordered were fairly decent consisting of a spread of african sausage, a blended carrot dish which was delicious and a pita bread with spicy tomato paste option which was also very good; things started going downhill with the lentil and pumpkin soup which i'm certain had no pumpkin and no flavor; the entrees unfortunately fell flat as well; my dish which was a cous cous, vegetable and meat dish came out very cold and had to be reheated; overall i'm sure the food is normally good but they must have had a bad night as the rest of the evening consisted of the owners yelling in french/arabic at each other Posted on February 17, 2014 |

★★★☆☆ This is a small family restaurant that is cozy but a bit dark. I had one of the chicken sandwich. But they put only like 3 cubes of chicken and there's also not a lot of choices to choose from. For the portion I got, it's not worth the money. Posted on November 14, 2013 |

★★★★☆ The food was good for the first timer of North African food. The decoration was quite unique. The menu however is pretty hard to understand. Posted on November 14, 2013 |

★★★★★ Love this place. Probably my favourite in Boston. The staff are great, food is lovely, and the atmosphere is awesome. The sherbat is a must-have. Slightly more pricey, but paying for fully zabihah food is worth it. Posted on September 12, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ The food is good
The place is nice but small
It is not family friendly ( no high chairs)
The stuff was kind
I think it is Algerian cuisine. Posted on May 17, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Food not that superb but fair value for the standard.. Posted on May 7, 2011 |

★★★★☆ I liked the food here, I ordered a sandwich with sausage. It was very filling and tasted great. My friend ordered a tuna sandwich and didn't like it at all. Maybe it is best to stick with the meat dishes. Posted on March 29, 2011 |

★★★★★ Loved the food!! This restaurant is cozy with about ten small tables. The food was priced very reasonably and it tasted very good. Try the rose lemonade ( I can't remember the exact name, I think it's called 'sorbat'), we ordered a pitcher and it was very good. The only downside about this place is that they only take cash. ★★☆☆☆ Highly over priced! All I got for 18 bucks was a plate full of sweet potato fires (those too were very thin and stiff), a very small portion of beef and chicken and some vegetables. I couldn't believe I was paying 18 dollars for fries? Should have had a fish fillet meal from McDonald's instead. Tables were located very close to each other, not enough space or proivacy and the lights were very dim. Parking is very limited. The only nice thing was the decor (excluding lights). ★★★★★ yes, pricey but service/food is excellent. enjoyed it thoroughly and its fully halal...worth visiting if you are in boston. Posted on August 27, 2009 |

|
★★★★☆ Definitely on the pricy side, but I thought the food was top-notch (although the french fries that were offered as a side dish seemed a little out of place). Save room for the creme brulee! Posted on April 19, 2009 |

★★★★★ The owner (I think her name is Aliya) is gregarious and welcoming and made us feel right at home. I went here the night before Eid, and she gave some excellent suggestions on places nearby to attend Eid prayer, even some smaller gatherings.
As for the food, the meat was tender and succulent in all three of the dishes that we ordered. The food was prepared with care and warmth.
The ambience is cozy with Islamic, North African touches.
It is a bit difficult to find, just off Central Square, but worth the hunt. Posted on February 28, 2007 |

★★★★☆ The menu is small but the food is excellant, the prices are steep for the portion size of food served. The owner is very welcoming. Bring cash. Posted on October 31, 2005 |

|
★★★★☆ The food is first class, absolutely excellent. The problem is that it is very expensive, and the portions aren't big enough. However, Alia is a fabulous host. Posted on January 16, 2005 |

★★★★★ Love the food, love the owners, hate the prices, but Alia (one of the owners) is a most gracious host. Posted on January 13, 2005 |

★★★★★ Great food. The owner is friendly and the food really is much better than other North African/Middle Eastern establishments in Boston. Try to the baby lamb chomps! Posted on December 16, 2004 |

★★☆☆☆ The place offers unique north african meals. However the portion is not commensurate with the price. You have very small portions and hardly anything to go together to make a meal. All you have is just a few items with the main course and that is that. The owner talks and talks loudly to the staff of her kitchen and that can be somewhat irratating. ★★★★★ This restaurant has amazing food, alhamdullilah and a really warm atmosphere. They do not serve alcohol and they don't take credit or debit cards (so bring cash). You may see people bringing their own bottles of wine to the restaurant since this is within the codes of Cambridge, but by not getting a liquor license the restaurant isn't encouraging drinking. Every bite of the food here is bursting with flavor. I can't even name a favorite dish because I love them all and each time I've been have shared with my dinner partners. Favorite drink: the lemonade, made more delicious with rosewater and rose petals. Cons, the restaurant is hidden away a side street and is not open every night, so call ahead for directions and to see if it is open. Posted on September 18, 2004 |

★★★★★ The food is delicious, and the sister who runs the restaurant is a magnificent host. SubhanAllah. Posted on August 27, 2004 |

★★★★★ You must absolutely try this place. I have been to many restaurants and this is by far the best one yet. The food is just dreamy. Here you can gourmet halal food and fabulous desserts, what more can you ask for? But there is one more thing that makes this place so special, the owner. She is the most welcoming and the friendliest owner I have met yet. You will enter this place as a patron but leave as a friend. Do not miss out on the great food and great atmosphere. But go early, seating is limited. May Allah reward them for all of their efforts. Ameen. Posted on August 7, 2004 |

★★★★★ Everything about this restaurant is excellent--the ambience, the owner, who was very cordial, and the food! My family was in town for a visit (from Maine) and were pleased to find a good halal restaurant. We especially enjoyed the mint tea, appetizer (fresh cheeses with a fig compote) and desserts (creme brulee and Tunisian dates and cheese) we shared. It was worth the trip and we'll definitely be back! Posted on October 22, 2003 |

★★★★☆ This place is on Pearl street just off Massachusetts ave. in Cambridge. It is not very visble and you might miss it if you are not specifically looking for it. However, this is a must visit for those who are in search of Halal and/or ethnic foods. The food is rich in variety and taste, although a bit on the expensive side. People with weak stomachs or those not open to adding more variety to their existing limited choice of meals may not enjoy this place. Then again, you need to try this kind of food before making up your mind about it. The food is rich in taste. The same platter may contain items that are sweet, tangy, savory, spicy (not hot!) and a combination of all these tastes. The small dining area feels very cozy when there are not too many customers around. But in the presence of many, it is a little congested. Weekend nights, seem to be very popular. The staff is very courteous and hospitable. Do check out this place. Posted on December 25, 2002 |
