Mary Brown's is a Canadian fast-food restaurant which mainly serves fried chicken and 'taters' or potato wedges. For 50 years, we've been crafting Mary's Chicken and Taters by hand in every store - starting with whole, fresh, local Canada Grade A chicken and farm fresh potatoes. We choose only premium ingredients and prepare every meal with care. We've always done it this way; we always will. Added on December 24, 2008 and last updated 3 years ago

★★★★★ Good service. Chicken is good quality. Their taters are far better then fries. I love their tater poutine with buffalo sauce.
NOTE FOR yyc visitors: most of the Mary Brown location in Calgary are halal and owned by Pakistanis. Posted on May 14, 2016 |

★★★★★ this MB is now open until 11pm, and we got excellent customer service. ordered wings, fried chicken and few drinks, all under $25. Wings- make sure you verify the flavors, as they differ in taste to similarly named ones in the US.
Excellent experience overall. Posted on March 28, 2015 |

★☆☆☆☆ On one night me and my family arrived to marybrown location around 8:45 pm over the weekend. We ordered food to eat at location and it was processed. Around 8:55 we got the order and started eating. At 9:00pm the staff turned off few lights. I was really surprised to see that he didn't wait us to finish the food and turned off lights. Anyway we were able to finish quickly our dinner by 9:10 pm. I knew the staff wanted to close the resturant but my kids were hungry and don't want to leave wihout eating dinner.
Not only that when we were leaving the resturant then stafff member was standing with angry face and asking me that "I didn't know that this branch close at 9:00 pm". IT WAS RIDICULOUS especailly when someone is with family and staff behave like that.
If the time was important to close the branch then why marybrowns got the order to eat at the location, you could have say NO when I was ordering the food that this branch will close sharp at 9:00 pm and if I can take away etc.
I was really insulting to me and my family that marybrown first allowed us to sit and then after 5 minutes you started behaving very badly saying indirectly that it's our fault. Posted on March 7, 2013 |

★★★☆☆ My wife and I went to this place. The people were nice and the service was good but it's not the atmosphere I would take my family or friends. I would only go back if I had to. If it is true that the chicken is from Lillydale then I would definitely not consider it zabihah halal. Posted on April 9, 2012 |

★★★★☆ I went to Mary brown's after Juma prayer and ordered their Chicken Sandwich combo. The total cost including taxes was $9.96. kinda pricey in my opinion. The service was fast, I got my order in 2 mins, but I suppose it was fast because I was the only one there at the time. Either way, it was fast, just the way i like it.
The meal itself included a 355ml can of pop, and your choice of fries or taters and another side (potatoe salad, coleslaw, etc.). I chose the taters, and they were delicious. The potatoe salad was decent, and the Burger? Well that was the best part! it was soooo good!
The meal can fill you up. The place is pretty expensive though. But overall, I'll definitely go back and try the chicken wraps and other stuff on the menu. I'll write a review about the other stuff when the time comes. Posted on October 1, 2011 |

★☆☆☆☆ I have tried mary browns, not too keen on the greasy chicken and the dried fries. Have not eaten since my family and and I have found out there chicken is from Lilydales. So the question remains Is it Zabihah halal?
NB: Lilydale does not manually slaughter the chicken, it is slaughtered by machines. Posted on September 3, 2010 |

★★★★★ Authentic Halal. The owner told me himself that they changed all the pots and pans after taking over this place. Have been there couple of times and will go again. Food tastes really good, better than KFC and price is reasonable too. Posted on July 12, 2010 |

★★★★☆ The fried chicken & taters were really good. We didn't care much for the chicken wings (had a smoky flavour which we're not big fans of) or the potato salad. Would definitely go back for the fried chicken though! Posted on April 4, 2010 |

★★★★☆ After finding a flyer on my car after Eid advertising this place as the only halal Mary Browns in Calgary, I went to check it out. Typical stand-alone fast food place with dine-in or take-out.
Owner and people working there are Muslims. I asked what was halal and was told everything is halal - they bring the chicken and cut it up themselves on site.
I ordered fried chicken, taters and potato salad. Chicken and taters were good. Potato salad was icy cold and mushy. Posted on December 24, 2008 |
