★☆☆☆☆ I don't like the way they weigh the chicken and beef and food Posted on May 25, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ Owners are Afghani, having bought the place from the original Iraqi owner, who opened another place downtown with almost the same name ("Babylon Quithara"). Halal meat shop next door.
Chicken shawarma is good (meat is cooked on a griddle). If they ask you if you want "sweet sauce", what they mean is "mayonnaise".
Service is hit and miss depending on the person at the front and what condiments they have left. Posted on December 24, 2008 |

★★★★☆ The kabobs are pretty dry, but their donair is the best. I used to frequent the place about once a week but I stopped going because of the service - I was treated very rudely and like we all know, dignity matters. Posted on March 22, 2006 |

★★☆☆☆ Food is very expensive, charging 9 dollars for a shwarma, if you ask for whole wheat bread add another 1.5$, they just charge and cahrge and charge... Posted on October 1, 2005 |

★★★☆☆ Yes food is generally good and their "khubaz" (oven cooked bread) is excellent. However, their rice are nearly always undercooked. They need to work on their rice. Posted on December 5, 2004 |

★★★★☆ We tried the chicken shawarma, donair beef and the spicy beef with rice plate. All were not bad. The donair was a little bland though. The sweets however were a dissapointment. The do have authentic arabic tea though! Overall worth a visit. Posted on August 4, 2004 |

★★★★★ After a not so exciting lunch at a Pakistani store/eatry close to Calgary downtown the yesterday, I went to this place with my Arab friend. It is a nice clean place. We had Shawarma platter and Mix Falafel platter. Food was excellent. Sweets were good too. I was surprised at the size of shawarma. It was almost equal to five shawarmas one could buy in Kuwait. I could not finish it. Price wise, it was equal to the price of about six Shawarmas in Kuwait. We were Pleasantly surprised to see genuine Arab food in Calgary. Another thing that we noticed was that my friend was the only Arab customer in the eatry. There were mostly locals, Indian and Pakistani families and individuals. I would recommend this place to anyone who has worked/lived in the Middle East and once in a while wishes to enjoy Arabic foods. I hope they will start serving 'Um Ali', my favourite sweet dish. ★★★★★ Excellent resturant, they recently renovated the whole place, its spotlessly clean and the food is very good, and quantity is quite nice. Its a place you can take your whole family, they are a little worried about kids staying under control (they have signs all over the resturant asking you to keep your kids under control) but then again they jsut spent a lot of money renovating it, I dont think it is an issue. Overall an excellent place to eat Halal. It is right next to Amir Halal Meats (another excellent and VERY clean and fresh place to buy Halal meat) if you are going east on Memorial Dr its just off 28th street behind the Subway. ★★★★★ They serve Arabic food, but item # 15 is just like "qeema chawal" and item #1 is like seekh kabab! Very clean and professional style. They make it right in front of your eyes. Posted on March 28, 2004 |
