★★★☆☆ This is a 100% halal Middle Eastern (mostly take-out) restaurant serving salads, platters, sandwiches, appetizers, rotisserie chicken, and seafood. The restaurant is located near the intersection of 167th St and Jerome Ave along a bunch of automotive repair shops, so leave the 2001 Acura Integra Type R at home. There is minimal seating, just one table for 4 and some counter seating, so you'll probably want take out. Delivery is available.
The chicken tawook over rice ($8) is fairly average and is modeled after food truck chicken-over-rice. The hummus ($3) is freshly made but served without any pita bread and is pretty basic.
Overall, decent food at a very low price. Posted on April 27, 2016 |

★★★★☆ I found out about this place from the people i work with. The co-workers complemented on the low pricing and decent food of this fast food place. I tried it today for the first time and i would give it a B+ in my opinion. Its good for a quick bite. At first i tried the Chicken Shawarma and more recently a chicken breast roll. I liked the chicken breast roll over the Shawarma. The place itself is overall very clean and although there is space, there is 1 small table and three stools to sit near the window. It is not a place to sit but mainly take-out or hang-out. One of the counters displayed fresh kababs that according to the owner are fresh and not processed. The restaurant is located next to live poultry place where they get fresh halal meat from. The display also showed fresh vegetable and shrimps.
The fries i got with the Shawarma were a bit soggy and not crisp as i was expecting. This review is mainly for the owner to get hints on how to improve.
The chicken in the Shawarma was decent in taste. I would definitely use hot sauce on the side. The chicken breast roll i tried was much better and tasty.
Overall its a good place to try different things, platters, burgers, falafel, sandwich, sea food, rotisserie, etc. Remember, their meat is fresh from the live poultry place next door, which sells halal meat. Posted on March 2, 2016 |
