★★★☆☆ I would highly recommend that you specifically ask for zabihah halal meat if you visit Ahmo's. According to their owner, they by default, even if the customer looks Muslim, give them non-halaal meat, unless specifically requested. According to their owner, the only halaal product they have is the Chicken Gyro. The owner does not say it is Zabihah, but that its halaal.... He obtains the halaal chicken from Sysco. ★★★★★ The food at this place is awesome, Ive tried the meat and the chicken gyros and for once I felt someone is packing them with enough meat to actually fill up a rather hungry person.. haha I would definitely recommend this place for gyros, I havent tried other items yet, so I cant comment.. Inshallah soon on my next visit maybe I can convince myself to try another dish.. haha Posted on November 1, 2007 |

★★★★☆ Very good people and very nice food and loved their hot sauce and I am from chicago but if I am around Ann Arbor I always stop by and have some Ahmo's. Zabihah is the only way Brother. "ALWAYS ASK FOR ZABIHAH HALAL" Posted on January 22, 2007 |

★★★☆☆ I went in there, and asked which food is halal, he had told me only the chicken is halal, be cautious of this place. Everytime I go in there and ask what is halal, they tell me something different everytime, but most of the times I got just the chicken was halal. Posted on October 30, 2006 |

★☆☆☆☆ Was under the impression that everything was "halal". Went to the Ellsworth/Stoneschool location and ate the gyros and had a bad post-prandial experience. Called the place up and asked them very specifically and pointedly whether their meat was "zabihah", not just "halal". I was told very specifically that the gyros were "halal" only upon request. I then specifically asked them if the beef and chicken were "zabihah" and I got the response that they were "halal". I repeatedly asked them about "zabihah" status, explaining the differences between "zabihah" and what some consider to be just "halal" and I repeatedly got a response that the chicken and beef were "halal". I would be very, very cautious about eating here. Being that there is a law in Michigan that misleading use of the word "Halal" posted in restaurants and advertising can lead to legal penalties if the meat is not slaughtered according to Islamic law, it is particularly noteworthy that none of this restaurant's advertisements or store displays have the word "Halal" used. ★★★★★ We loved the halal gyros. They also sell cooked gyro meat by the pound. They now have a 2nd restaurant in Ypsilanti (Ellsworth & Stoneschool). Posted on December 5, 2004 |

★★★★☆ They serve halal meat & turkey bacon! The Gyros are the best I have ever had and the price is great. After every jummah there is a crowd of Muslims. Posted on October 26, 2004 |

★★★★☆ Excellent hamburgers, gyro, philly steak sandwich etc. Not sure if the turkey is zabiha, though. Ask, just in case. Posted on March 26, 2001 |
