Birmingham is a large multicultural city which has experienced the influx of migrants from across the Muslim world particularly Pakistan, Bangladesh & India as well as the Middle East and Africa. The quality of food in the city covers the full spectrum from poor to excellent as do the prices. However, one does not have to pay a lot for high quality food and if you are prepared to seek out where the local Muslim communities live (in places like Sparkhill & Small Heath) and avoid the city centre you may be pleasantly surprised. There are ample halal food shops and restaurants (covering a variety of tastes) in Birmingham to satisfy all tastes and backgrounds.
