NR So this masjid gets 5 stars just because it's "RICH". I'm sure Allah SWT cares about how much money we have (#sarcasm -> faheemiqbal). In my professional and educated opinion, EVERY MASJID deserves 5 stars. Any one who thinks otherwise, Mr. Faheemiqbal, should look inside themselves and change the way they see the world and those around them who are less fortunate. True wealth lies in the contentment of the heart. Posted on March 5, 2016
NR This was an old church that they converted into a masjid. Muslims have moved into the neighborhood and you will see Muslims in Islamic clothes all around.
I like the overall feeling at this masjid. I am always happy to pray here. The wudu areas are ok (could be cleaner.) Posted on January 1, 2015
NR This is not a rating, just information, esp for travelers.
This masjid is big and beautiful, remodeled in recent years. They have a large ladies section with a separate entrance from the parking lot, but it is almost always locked (except for Tarawih & Eid); women don't usually go there except during Ramadan.
The men used to enter from Sobieski Street, but they now have the men's entrance from Madinah Ave (formerly known as Sweet Street), so they can step in from the back of the rows.
Note that Madinah Ave and Sobieski Street are one-way streets.
This is an Indo-Pak, Desai masjid run by a board - the Memon family. They have 2 boarding schools for ages about 9 & up: Darul-Uloom for boys about 2 miles away on Best Street, and the girls school is across the street. They also operate a small day school (the bldg is across the parking lot from the masjid) that teaches up to grade 4, after which the kids can transfer to the boarding schools.
