NR The Curry Club has excellent food. Their lunch time buffet is quite inexpensive and has a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, all of which I have enjoyed thoroughly.
When ordering during non-buffet hours, you can still expect delicious food, but I find it gets a bit pricey. Also, be aware that most of the curries (unless you order Biryani) do not come with rice nor bread, which you have to order and pay for separately. Still, the taste is excellent!
One thing I feel duty-bound to report is that I am not sure if the place is Halal or not. A couple of years ago, when I first ate here regularly, I was told that the Goat Biryani was Halal, but all other meat dishes were not, so I stuck to Goat Biryani and the vegetarian dishes. Recently, I saw Curry Club listed on Zabihah and was excited to order something, but I have my doubts as to the authenticity of the Halal status.
When I called to ask if the food is Halal, I was told that "Yes, MOST of it is Halal." When I pressed further as to which food is not Halal, the person on the other end got angry and said: "It is all Halal, what do you want to order?"
Anyway, when it comes to the taste, it is definitely the best Indian food I've had on Long Island. I would rate 5 stars, but since I have doubts about the Halal status, I will give "no rating" so as not to affect the final rating. Posted on August 17, 2011 |
