★★★★☆ Just had the yogurt Adana kabob with crispy croutons.. Seriously GREAT food!! And the warm bread they serve at the beginning, crispy on the outside soft on the inside, is delicious with the olive dip. Good service too. Posted on February 23, 2012 |

★★★★★ this place was bomb!!! totally agree with last poster, it was cold but i recently went a second time and they fixed the heater. SUPER intimate, dont go with like 12 people middle eastern style, you'll end up waiting for an hour. its a nice date place, or a group of three or four MAX. the entire dining hall is the size of my living room. the food is STUPENDOUS!!! they have this one dish where they lay a spicy ground lamb kabob on top of a bed of super thick yogurt and crispy Turkish bread croutons, omg, to die for, ive had it twice already. the soups are amazing. ive never had such a flavorful chicken soup, it had bits of spices and herbs, dill and what not, it was legitimately the best chicken soup in history. The lamb shish is AMAZING!!! my friend got it on two occasions and it never fails, perfectly marinated, grilled to perfection, so juicy, tender and not rough like most restaurants that dont know how to deal with lamb properly. the service is great, very friendly, and above all the such amazing prices! me and my friend went ALL OUT, drinks, salads, appetizers and huge entrees with tea and we came out under 60 bucks, which is unheard of for that kind of quality in Manhattan. i hope they eventually can afford a bigger place because they deserve it. ★★★☆☆ This place has a lot of potential. The interior is lovely and intimate, a great place for a date if you avoid peek meal times. The restaurant was absolutely freezing, the heating must have been broken when we went - something that is easily fixed, so I don't hold it against the restaurant in the long term. The staff were most kind and did arrange an array of portable heaters around us to keep us nice and warm. The food was tasty, but I don't think it would have filled me up if I was ravenously hungry. My husband called it 'just the right amount.'. I had the chicken adana, and he the lamb adana kebab. They serve with rice, and over grilled pita. I found that the kebab made the pita too oily for my taste, but can ask for it on the side next time! I was a little dismayed that after I had eaten my meal, a large party arrived and was served wine. It makes me feel a little uncomfortable to be advised the cuisine is halal, and then to find they serve alcohol. However, this may not bother some people - so that's just a matter of taste! All in all, the food, the staff, and the decor was solid, and I would come back if a few of the details were ironed out! Posted on January 24, 2012 |
