★★★★★ Discovered this place on our first visit to San Diego, it's an easy walk from the convention center in the Gaslamp district. Parking is paid, and therefore, a little hard to find. Food is excellent, portions are huge and it's well presented. We had chicken and lamb- both were tender, juicy and done exactly the way we asked. Turkish kahwa was excellent and buklava was fresh and on point. Decor is ok. This is excellent affordable Turkish street food option. Posted on April 1, 2017 |

★★★★★ I was in San Diego for the 2014 SPIE Optics and Photonics conference, held at the San Diego Convention Center.
Location-wise, Cafe Istanbul was amazing. An easy walk through the Gaslamp Quarter during lunch breaks.
The first question I asked was which of the meat was Zabihah, and brother Suleyman replied that it all was, and he himself only ate Zabihah.
I ordered the Iskender, which was delicious. Not having Coke Zero was a little disappointing, but no major problem.
After eating, I asked whether they had a space for salat, and the brother said we could go together to the nearby masjid and pray together! He then dropped me back off to the Convention Center.
You can put your trust in someone who will pray with you. May Allah grant brother Suleyman plenty of success with his business and help him with any of his difficulties. Posted on August 22, 2014 |

★★★★★ Assalamoalaikum Zabihah users,
I happened to go to Cafe Istanbul today on referral from a brother at Masjid Ut Taqwa. Sulayman is a pleasant host. He was kind and courteous and helped me order. The food was delicious, warm and fresh. My family liked it.
Now to the best part and the reason I write this review. It was time for Maghrib. Although the property is not huge, Sulayman welcomed myself, my wife and my son in their work area to make wudu and perform our salat. Such gestures for me go beyond good food and fast service. I would highly recommend this place. Posted on March 17, 2013 |

★★★★☆ Visited this place for an early lunch... the food was very economical, tasty, and portion was huge... The only problem was that the patron of the restaurant (almost everyone) would stand right outside the restaurant and smoke :( Posted on September 26, 2016 |

NR I went to there last week . In front of the place, I saw a banner written a message about the management of the place has been changed. So I found another place. (Maybe halal situtation and other things might not be changed. I don't know. This is just my choice) Posted on March 19, 2016 |

★★★★☆ Good food but a bit pricey for the amount of food. We had chicken donar, lamb/beef donar, kofte kebab n chicken shawarma. I wish they would use the lavash bread for shawarma but the had tortilla. All the meat rice n salad were really good. Oh very hard to find parking. Posted on April 2, 2015 |

NR Turkish Kitchen was our last family meal for a week long visit in SAN DIEGO so we had indulged on a lot of excellent food over the days. Expectations were high and were eventually exceeded; all of the dishes we ordered were so delicious! We indulged in the humus, filafel, eggplant, and lamb dishes. Everyone agreed that the falafel was one of the best we've ever had; crisp yet moist in the center. Posted on August 27, 2014 |

NR Alhamdullilah,Discovered it while visiting San Diego, convenient location(just off Hwy 5 exit at 6th Avenue).
Food is really Turkish and halal!
MashAllah Br. Suleyman makes everything just like in a Istanbul street lokanta!
Donner is just fabulous! Lamb Donner on pita tasted just like in Istanbul! Ice cold ayran and you're done! Fresh baked pita also delicious.
We had falafel plate and it was good too.
InshAllah we plan on stoping every time in town! Closer than Istanbul:)
I'm a big Donner fan, must confess:) Posted on November 23, 2013 |

NR We went there at night and we had to search more than half an hour to find a spot to park. Then the owner told us that their lamb doner kabob was not zabihah that day. Thanks to him for being honest. So we got out hungry! Posted on May 23, 2013 |
