★★★★☆ I came to this place on a recommendation from a friend, and given the name I was a little bit surprised not to find them on Zabihah. My guess is that they're a new restaurant and haven't added themselves here. Out of curiosity, before putting in an order (I was getting takeout) I gave them a call and asked them where they bought their meat from. They told me that they get it from Restaurant Depot. I do know that my mother buys halal chicken from Restaurant Depot in bulk from time to time, so I decided to be on the safe side and get that.
Moving on to the food. I got the chicken biryani, vegetable pakoras, and rus malai. The biryani is very good, comes in an enormous portion, and is quite filling. I had some of it for dinner, but there was so much that I was still eating it the next day. The pakoras were okay, nothing special. I was okay with the rus malai, but it's hard for restaurants to get rus malai right - it takes a lot of time to make, and more often than not most people coming to these restaurnts don't know what it is - so there's little incentive for the restaurant to to try and make it top notch.
The ambiance of this place is decent. The place doesn't feel cramped, but realistically it doesn't have a ton of room for groups. This is the sort of place I'd either grab take-out from or go with a friend or two. Everything looks to be very clean, but it definitely still feels a little bit divey. All in all, I'd normally give it about a 3.5, but I'm bumping this up a bit to 4 because of the portion sizes and the biryani, which I personally really liked.

★★★★☆ Popped into this place for some take out. Food was really good, large portions, a bit pricey. It has more of a hole in the wall feel and not much seating inside. The picture on this page is not of this restaurant though. Posted on April 16, 2017 |
