★☆☆☆☆ Food quality is very mediocre, especially for the price. The meat in the combination fried rice is very scarce and the pieces that are in there are tiny. We also ordered Chicken Wonton soup and the wontons were still raw, both my wife and I tasted them and could very plainly taste raw dough. When we brought this to our waiter's attention, he argued and claimed that it was not possible that the wontons could be raw because they "cook it twice" (likely meaning that they cook a batch once a week and then re-heat it whenever someone orders it). So by his argument that it's "not possible" the implication is that either we are liars who are petty enough to lie about a $3 bowl of soup, or we're stupid and don't know what raw dough tastes like. This is not good customer service, I've worked in foodservice for years and there's no excuse for this. You don't argue with the customer, you either offer to get them a replacement item or you comp the item from the check. Between the mediocre food quality and poor customer service, I would not recommend coming here. Posted on February 18, 2018 |

★☆☆☆☆ For people who care about halal ingredients be aware that this place uses kikkoman soy sauce which contains 3.2% alcohol. Which makes ordering food very limited. Posted on November 13, 2015 |

★★★☆☆ I've been here twice ever, and I remembered yesterday why I prefer Hakka Wok. The service, cleanliness, and overall experience is not what you go for; go for the quick food that's tasty. Chicken and beef confirmed halal verbally by staff. Posted on August 17, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ Tried this place out over the holiday weekend. Not too impressed with the quantity for the prices they charge. I guess you get spoiled by going to Mas in Anaheim, CA where you ALWAYS leave with a doggie bag, masha Allah there is much barakh in their food, well i should reserve this for Mas review. There was just 1 waiter taking care of multiple tables, although a friendly guy...he asks at the tail end of our meal if we want anything else, pretty much 2 start service. Anyways, the portions are plain old sad for the amount you pay. For what we got, i guess they count and hand pick and drop a few half shrimps, 4 pieces of beef and a few chicken. Food was OK, i've had much better, nothing to rave about, but I highly doubt i'll ever go back, especially when they auto add 15% to the menu. Probably get much better value ordering all sea food items from a regular Chinese place and I'll just wait till i am in CA to fullfil my Zabiha chines cravings at MAS :) Posted on September 18, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ My wife and I went for a dinner. We ordered 3 dishes: thai curry, mongolian beef and mix fried rice. Thai curry & mongolian beef were ok, we had better food!! but the mix fried rice was horrible and nasty. I am sure that the mix fried rice was stale. I talked to the manager/owner; he responded to me that everyone loves this mixed fried rice. He didn't return the food and he still charged me for the stale food. This is the worst desi restaurant I have ever been to.
CAUTION: This restaurant serves ALCOHOL !!!
Owner failed to present the paper proof for Zabiha meat. I am 100% sure that meat is NOT ZABIHA.
I will not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy! Posted on September 12, 2013 |

★★★★★ Absolutely love the food here! Cool that the owner, who is of Chinese descent, can speak Urdu. If I could give this place a 10, I would! Posted on January 3, 2013 |

★★★★☆ Wife and I had carryout from here in October - chicken fried rice and chili chicken (gravy style). It was really tasty. Lots of Muslims inside. Spicyness was right and we really wanted to try more options, but didn't get the chance since we moved. Posted on December 31, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ We didn't like the food. Place was too overcrowded. There wasn't even room for us to walk out of our booths as they had combined tables with booths for families creating a fire hazard. They were understaffed for the crowd. I asked to substitute plain rice for fried rice. They said okay. When I got the bill, they had charged me an additional $8.50 for the rice. I complained about it and they said they don't substitute! If that was the case, they should have refused when I asked for it!!! We went with our 2 and 5 year old kids that were not hungry so we only ordered 2 entrees but when we saw the bill, they had already charged us gratuity for party of 4 or more!!! We had to flag a waiter down everytime we needed anything. When we were getting ready to leave, we had to wait 15+ mins just so we could pay! I will never go back to that restaurant. ★★★★★ This place is definately Halal. Their luch specials are inexpensive; but their portions are big. Very delicious food. I would recommend this place to anyone craving good Chinese food in the Gledale Heights/Carol Stream/Bloomingdale area. Posted on November 15, 2012 |

★★★★★ The food SNAPPS. It's a lil pricey, but worth it. Definitely recommended!! Much better than other halal chinese places I've tried. Posted on July 3, 2012 |

★★★★★ The food was fairly expensive, but they prepared it quickly and the taste was excellent. We had General Tso's and Honey Walnut Shrimp. The restaurant is large and had a number of Muslim families when we went in. The waitstaff was very polite. Posted on June 18, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Chang's Hot Wok is a great zabiha hakka (Indian Chinese fusion) restaurant! Please be warned alcohol is served and the owner is not a Muslim. That being said, the food is 100% zabiha (and delicious!) and the owner is very nice and friendly.
Appetizers: I'm not a big crab rangoon fan but the people I was with loved them! The soups were good. The shrimp pakoras are awesome! I will definitely order them on my second visit.
Entrees: Sesame chicken was so yummy- super sweet and tangy! Mongolian beef was really good too, though I am partial to Inchin's Bamboo Garden. The Signapore noodles were all right but nothing special. I would not order those again.
All the food came out quickly and sizzling- yummy! The soup came first, quickly followed by appetizers, followed up quickly by the entrees. What a feast! But we did over-order.
This restaurant is fairly large and can hold big groups. They have a large table with a big lazy susan in the center for a really large group.
A little pricey for Chinese but great food, great ambiance, great service- Definitely will return! Posted on April 22, 2012 |

★★★★★ this place was very good, just went there today and tried the mango chicken, ginger beef, and manchurian fish...tasted more like authentic chinese food instead of indo-chinese food which is nice to be able to experience for a change Posted on March 18, 2012 |

★★★★★ **PLEASE NOTE THIS RESTAURANT IS ZABIHA - CERTIFICATES ARE PRESENT AT THE RESTAURANT & I SPOKE DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER FACE TO FACE**
Alhumdullilah that there is a place with such good Chinese Food for Zabiha eating Muslims in Chicagoland. I love this place! I've eaten there 4 or 5 times during Ramadan for Iftar and now afterwards with my family. It's one of the rare places where all people find what they like, adult, child, man, woman.
The owner is a very nice man, he is Christian but very kind to his Muslim patrons. He is patient, quiet and caring, the kind of person I wish more muslims were like. He spent time with me explaining where he gets his meat, his upbringing, and his future dishes once he gets more zabiha meat of the right cut and quality. He is either Chinese or Mongolian Ancestry but born and raised in Calcutta so his cooking style is a perfect fusion of Indian and Chinese tastes, thats why its so good.
I hope Inshallah he stays open with many Muslim patrons and continues to serve the Muslim community so that everyone gets to enjoy the clean large restaurant, and excellent food. He does serve alcohol on the far back counter, but again, he is Christian and is not observing the Muslim traditions. Yet he is someone who grew up with Muslims, and looks to cook and serve the needs of Muslims honorably. I appreciate people like him alot. Posted on September 22, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ I went to this restuarant because I knew of the old Hot Wok, it had a great reputation. Chang's Hot Wok has a great atmosphere, but the amount of food they give you for the high price is ridiculous. You pay so much money, but you don't get that value in the serving size. Too much food for too little money. Posted on February 15, 2011 |

NR Just because a place is listed on Zabihah.com and just because someone said it was halaal, doesn't make it halaal. I've gotten mixed answers from the staff when I questioned where they get their meat from. Also, a place that only serves a few halal items, but also offers a wide range of alcohol, CANNOT BE A HALAAL PLACE TO EAT. so unless you like eating their vegetarian dishes don't go there anticipating a zabiha halaal menu. I am pretty sure this place is deceiving people into eating their meat dishes. This place is not halaal.AND PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS OF WHAT YOU EAT. Posted on January 31, 2011 |
