HALAL SUMMARY
A halal certificate is clearly visible on the premises of this restaurant.
★★☆☆☆ So this place USED TO BE GOOD, but unfortunately, it has gone downhill since the ownership change. This was a regular spot for me and my colleagues who work right around the corner. The Jerk Chicken portion has become tiny, the roti is 90% potato and 10% meat (even thought there are signs everywhere that there is "extra meat" in the rotis). It seems like the new owners don't have a grip on the kind of food they are making. We have given the new ownership more a solid 6 chances to prove us wrong and it just fell flat. What a shame. ★★★★☆ As a busy Ryerson student, I am always searching for a great Halal restaurant in the downtown core and I can definitely conclude that the Rockwell Cafe is a great place to eat! The food is fresh, the place is clean. There are prayer accommodations - a level above the restaurant!!!
This restaurant is located right across the Bond hotel and easy accessible from transit areas. Having eaten at several halal restaurants in Toronto, space is mostly an issue, and in the Rockwell cafe does not make that an issue. There are a lot of space for customers to eat and enjoy their West Indian food!
The food quality and quantity is phenomenal for the price! I personally had the Tendoori/Jerk chicken with rice and peas and salad for less than $6!
Check out the place! You won't be dissapointed! Posted on September 28, 2011
