★☆☆☆☆ This is not the "real" Shalimar bro.. They are just using the name I guess. And making customer fool :-)
Tikka is old and looked like microwaved like other food.
Go somewhere else, but don't go to Shah restaurant next door. I think Shah food is worse than Shalimar.
Hard to tell which one is the worst :-) Posted on July 22, 2016 |

★★★☆☆ It is not owned by the original Shalimar owners. I was quite disappointed with the food as the Chicken tikka and the seekh Kabob were not the ones like i have eaten at the other Shalimar's. The service was ok. Posted on March 2, 2015 |

★★☆☆☆ Under new management. Prices up, quality down. Skip it. Posted on July 4, 2014 |

★★☆☆☆ Ordered brain masala and nan. No good in short. Asked for green coriander but not provided. Raita upon asking
They did offer place for Zuhr.
Bathroom was dirty with no lota
Not happy to accept credit card
Overall below average Posted on June 23, 2014 |

★★★★☆ Food is overall good. Maghaz and Chicken tikka are the best I have ever eaten in the Bay area. Don't expect much of a customer service. Posted on April 22, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ A week ago we got their food to go. It was nothing but disappointment, since it was very late we weren't able to go back to complain. We ordered chicken biryani, nihari and goat karahi with naan. The biryanis smelled rotten and it looked it was very old biryani. the nihari and karahi tasted ok, not the best food we had. I would not go back to this restaurant again. I would give it 0 stars if it was even possible. Posted on April 8, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ Wow. This place is terrible. I live in East Bay and I was in Sunnyvale for an appointment. I found this location on the zabiah app. The Fremont Shalimar has a friendly staff and good food so I decided to try this out. I did not have cash on me so I called ahead to see if they take credit card. Yes. It was unclear where the line started and I stood on the wrong side. Another guy cut ahead of me and the cashier did not correct him even though he saw the man cut ahead. The cashier would not let me pay for my food after I paid for it. He said come back. This was disappointing. I had to wait in line again just to pay. I shared this with one employee who said they do this in hopes the customer will add more items to their bill after the food had arrived. Two different employees also gave me a hard time about using my credit card. They wanted cash. Also, a sign by the register said "Cash Only," however, there were credit card accepted here stickers on the door and an employee said they accept credit card. I will NOT be back to this specific Shalimar location. Posted on November 7, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ This restaurant should be closed ... Due to poor quality of nearly every thing. I will never go there again. Posted on March 28, 2013 |

★★★★☆ Food is generally very good. Been here quite a few times. Service is bad, they make you wait a lot, sometimes you need to remind them about your order. Restrooms are baaad. A reasonably maintained gas station would have better restrooms than this place. Taste is pretty good which is why I still frequent this place. They are usually open till 10pm and11pm on weekends I think. Order on phone and go to save sometime. Posted on February 20, 2013 |

★☆☆☆☆ we ordered nehari and tasted it with one bite, the meat was full of fat, so asked the waiter to replace it, but, the owner came and refused to do so and gave us the lecture on nehari and said this nehari would go back to the main pot and would again be served as there was nothing wrong with it, we could not beleive our ears and left the place, since that day i have never gone back, because i dont trust them, who knows i maybe eating somene's leftover yikes. ★★★☆☆ I went pretty late, around a half hour before closing after arriving late at SJC. The nan was hard and cold and the chicken tikka kabob was average. Unfortunately, found out only after getting back to my hotel Given the reviews, I was less than impressed. Posted on August 23, 2011 |

★★★★☆ I've been here many times in the past. This location is not as good as Fremont or SF, however still tasty. The owner is the relative of a friend so we always get treated well. Posted on April 30, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ The food is decent......but there isn't much service as it is mostly self service. The setting is okay and parking is a huge problem. Posted on July 23, 2009 |

★★★★★ This is the best place in North America when it comes to great Indian/Pakistani Food. They can improve ambience but who cares when your food is out of this world!! Posted on January 30, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ I disagree with most of the reviews here because I think these people might not have tried many other restaurants recently. Once, you do that, you will easily say that Shalimar is an overrated restaurant. I have been eating there for past 5 years. Had heard its name earlier than any other name, so kept on going there and not discovering other restaurants. The food used to be pretty good but has deteriorated much in past year or two. They have started putting Elaichee in every dish they cook like Saag Goasht, Daal etc. These dishes have nothing to do with Ilaichi, but do not know why these guys do that. Also, their chicken tikka used to be good but now it has lost its taste. Its just tasteless. I think the owners need to reinvest their time and interest to bring the taste to the level it was before. ★★★★★ Excellent Food. I was here for TWO weeks during this month of Ramadhan. They have iftar which is complimentary and then you can order food. The food is really good except the Aloo Kheema which whey have to work on it a lot. All the kabobs and Brain masala is super. Posted on September 18, 2008 |

★★☆☆☆ We were there only once and had worst experience with the service. We came for dinner, ordered the food and it took over 30 minutes for the food to come after I ask them several times. The food was greasy and my wife got an upset stomach from the dinner. Will not come back again since there are better Pakistani Halal restaurant like Kebab and Curry which are 100 times much better. ★★★★☆ The chicken tikkas here are amazing! They also have free chai, which is great. The place is almost always busy, and the ambiance is light hearted; you can go here either with a group or by yourself. You are expected to serve yourself with plates, napkins, cutlery, and drinks. Prices are also quite reasonable ($5-10 a head for a filling meal.) Definitely check this place out for some fresh Pakistani food! Posted on February 3, 2008 |

★★★★★ Nothing beats Shalimar, the best in the bay area. Their Jalfarazee, Koftas, Tikkas and Seekh Kababs are great, not to mention the gulab jamans. Posted on January 15, 2008 |

★★★☆☆ The food is good (I wouldn't say excellent) but it's definitely good. I don't like the arrogance of the staff there, which is a pattern I have seen at other Shalimar locations. I sometimes get the feeling I'm being an inconvenience to them by showing up and wanting to eat. I don't particularly like the partial food counter partial sit down atmosphere, they bring us our food, but we grab plates and drinks and etc. The facility may be larger than Shan but they aren't serving us more so I don't understand why there is a huge difference in prices. I like the quality of the food but it's not so amazing that they should charge us more. The quantity at Shan and some other restaurants is better for (again) lower prices. Nutshell: Good food, but snob value isn't worth it. Posted on October 17, 2007 |

★★★★★ The food is awesome! This is the best of the Shalimar's in terms of food and service. The food is great, the service is not that great, but better than the other Shalimar's. They don;t take credit cards, which can be a pain at times! Posted on January 29, 2007 |

|
★★★★☆ The food is good quality like the other locations, but the service is a little bit better. Went there for lunch, so it was pretty packed and had to park on the street. Note they only take cash as all other Shalimar's do, but they do have an ATM machine in the entry lobby which is good. Posted on November 15, 2006 |

★★★★★ Simply excellent punjabi cuisine. I have eaten here twice and each time the quality was of the same high standard. It is probably the best chicken jalfrazi I have eaten in the US. It compares favorably to Indo-pak restaurants in the UK which as a rule tend to be much better than the US ones. Posted on November 11, 2006 |

|
★★★★☆ Having eaten at both Shan and Shalimar, I have to say that Shan has the edge on providing flavorful food at a reasonable price (although their prices have edged up a bit). Posted on June 15, 2006 |

|
★★★★★ Same top quality food that you can expect from their other locations. Opening in Sunnyvale means that people like me in the South Bay do not need to drive up to Fremont or San Francisco to get their awesome food. Posted on June 7, 2006 |

★★★★☆ Have been to this location twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. This location seems to have more space and less rush then other ones in Fremont and San Francisco. Food was great, service little better. Tikka and mutton chops should be tried for sure, but don't try brain masala. For Shalimar fans and people in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale area this is definitely a good place. Posted on June 4, 2006 |
|
|
★★★★☆ They seem to already be as busy as their other SF and Fremont locations. Lunchtime can be quite crowded but food is as good other branches. Posted on May 7, 2006 |
