Choopan Grill |

Choopan is a little more polished than your average kebab joint, but it’s the Afghani dishes that draw local families here. Thick, dill-seasoned yogurt is featured prominently: in the creamy dressing over an iceberg-lettuce salad; in a cool, salty drink laced with cucumber; in a drizzle over a plate of sautéed eggplant. A squirt of the topping definitely adds tremendous flavour to the kebabs. The dish of ashak—delicate, almost translucent dumplings stuffed with minced leeks in a rich meat-and-lentil sauce—is a unique treat, as is the refreshing firnee, a milk pudding dessert with cardomom and chopped pistachios. ★★★★☆ Food is good. I prefer the Hicksville location, it’s probably the better one in my opinion. Posted on October 5, 2020 |

★★★★★ Excellent food, but relatively expensive.
My favorite are the "Combo" meals, which come with a very filling amount of kebabs/meats, on delicious rice, and that amazing white sauce!
The best meal I have had is Combo #2 with a side of Loobia (excellently spiced kidney beans). Costs about $20, but well worth the price. Definitely give it a try. Posted on June 21, 2011 |

★☆☆☆☆ I was a frequent customer to this place and this one day I called and said I want to place an order and we will come in and eat. The guy said he can't do that. We called again and he refused to take order and said "OK, DON'T COME IN"....and he hung up on us.
Is this customer service?
This same guy was super nice with customer service in the beginning but now he is getting proud and unfriendly.
I think we should all avoid him so that he can learn to provide good customer service. Posted on April 23, 2011 |

★★★★★ As the other reviewers have stated the food is fresh and tastes good. The vegetarian options are surprisingly good, and the meat options are delicious. The eggplant appetizer is divine. Place is not very busy and the service is generally prompt. Posted on February 14, 2011 |

★★★★★ I agree with the last review. The food was fresh, the service was extremely friendly, the white sauce was heavenly, the decor was good. The meats were grilled to perfection and nicely garnished, the brown rice was delicious, the eggplant entree was yummy. I think I'm running out of superlatives :-) This is in the same location as the previous Halal Thai restaurant which apparently has closed. Posted on April 9, 2010 |

★★★★★ Recently opened, owner is a fantastic guy and also owns Coram Fried Chicken. This branch of Choopan Grill is associated with the one in Hicksville and has the same menu and same great food. Food is top notch, always made fresh. I had the Chicken Tandoori and Chicken Tikka Kebab both of which were excellent. Make sure to try the white sauce! An absolute must-go for anyone in the area.
