★☆☆☆☆ About a million better options in Toronto that ARE halal. Posted on July 17, 2015 |
★★★☆☆ Uncomfortable place due to so many alcohol bottles at the counter. Although they mentioned Halal but those bottles shouldn't be there... Food was so so Posted on November 21, 2014 |
★☆☆☆☆ Halal status questionable. Posted on July 13, 2013 |
★★☆☆☆ It used to be really good, but the food the last year or so has really gone downhill. On top of that, there are fairly constant allegations of non-halal food. I wouldnt recommend going here just based on that, and besides, there are better Hakka places within a 10 minute drive. Posted on August 10, 2012 |
NR Not halal but we would like to be ignorant ... Cause we live to eat. Sorry to be blunt Posted on July 17, 2012 |
NR I am surprised to see this restaurant still on the list as I was pretty sure that it was confirmed to NOT be halal.
I dont know if something has changed since then, but the last I heard everyone knew that it wasnt halal. Posted on February 17, 2012 |
Can someone else confirm? We will look into it. |

★☆☆☆☆ This place is old news. Food quality has diminished, service is turtle-slow and even rude sometimes. If u want water, you'd better ask to leave a jug on your table because the staff are never going to refill it!
Move on to better places, this one isn't worth it anymore!! Posted on January 20, 2012 |
★★★★☆ Excellent food with very good prices but the service is very slow. I've been there 4/5 times and the dishes never come out together and if the do the forks and knives come 5/10mins after the food is already there. Giod food still and would go again!! Posted on January 5, 2012 |
★★★★★ Good Food and made fresh... Customer service is also very quick.
All the food we ordered was good, especially love the chicken corn soup and beef with chilli...
Definitely a restaurant in my top ten list for GTA Posted on July 12, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ Wow, tons of responses. I e frequented the place many times and I must agree with many of the posts, however, my friends and I always have to rush to the washroom right after we eat there. Service is so bad, it's actually comical! Posted on April 30, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ I have been going to this restaurant for at least 11 years. On occassion I have had the rude waiter, bad food, and dirty diner, but I always go back hoping for that experience what brought me there the first time. The last time i went on Jan. 8(2011), I had blood running out of my chicken wings that I asked to be well done, the chicken in my fried rice taste nearly raw, the manchurian noodles were oily beyond belief, and oh, did I mention that I was also eating the last customers dinner on my plate because it was not clean properly? I will not be going back there again. Posted on January 18, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ The food is just ok which makes me ask why this place is always packed? Unfortunately like most non-muslim owned Hakka places, alcohol is served and the zabihah meat is questionable. Posted on August 2, 2010 |
★☆☆☆☆ If you want boiled food marinated in soya sauce then you will love this place with it's pathetic service to it's bland food. For some it is always packed. Oh well one less person Posted on June 28, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ Used to be popular when it was one of the only halal places in town but service was bad since the beginning. Food quality went down slightly and prices went up but its still cheap and a good place to order take-out from. Posted on December 16, 2009 |
★★☆☆☆ This place used to be good in the past, not anymore. Food quality and services are bad compared to what they used to be. Posted on November 29, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ The food is great here but the service is so bad. There are better options out there. Posted on November 18, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ Salam All... It has come to my attention that this restaurant does not use halal meat on all occassions. One of the cooks that had worked in the kitchen informed me that they do not use halal meat. We have been going to this restaurant since 1998, its a shame that they would say such lies. Please refrain from dining at this establishment if you are very strict about eating ONLY halal meat. Posted on September 15, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Salaam everyone.
While writing this review about Lin Garden, my entire goal is to help the readers understand why they should avoid this restraunt. I have been dining in this restraunt since 2005. In my openion they were very good in their food quality and service back then. But over the years especially now this restraunt has completely lost its food quality and customer service both in abundance.
First of all, most of the staff is ignorant of english speaking skills. Secondly, their behavior with their customers have gone extremely rude. They can even ask their customer to leave if they wish so. Anyhow, my biggest concern with their service is that if I order 3 dishes including rice. They would bring one dish after 20-25 minutes and then no one would showup for the rest of the 2 dishes to serve for another 15-20 minutes. So for example if you recieve Lemon chicken then good luck for your rice to arive for another 20 minutes. I personally don't have the patience to sit there and keep staring at Lemon chicken for 15-20 minutes and finally my rice would arive to eat it it with. This is horrible. I won't recomend anyone in this restraunt ever Posted on September 2, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ i used to love this place when i first moved to toronto, but over the last 6 months i have come to realize that there are MUCH better options available in the GTA. Their staff is extremely rude! I only get take out from here, and its still hard to overlook their rude attitude towards customers; they get pissed if u take more than 30 seconds to order, and even though they always say that the food would be ready in 20 minutes, I always have to wait for an extra 20 minutes - I dont think they really put in the order until the caller shows up. ★★★☆☆ I have been eating at Lin Gardens since 2000, although less sparingly since the past 2 years. Although, this was the best place in GTA for Indo-Chinese cuisine, the quality of food has gone down in proportion to the success this place has enjoyed in the past few years. In fact, if you are thinking of dining on a weekend, forget it, because the place becomes a zoo. Also, the owners are releuctant/will refuse to accept reservations. There are better places that have come up and I no longer feel the need to eat regularly at this place. Posted on June 8, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ Their food is good but owner is extremely rude. I have had two bad experiences and even though I like their food I will never go there again.
I called to book a table for 10 people, he said its busy first come first serve, while i was talking he hung up on me. How rude. You never hang up on ur customer...
Once I gave an order on phone, they said it will be 20 mins, when I went there after 20 min, order was not ready, when I asked, owner started yelling at me. And he said If I can't wait I should leave.
Never in my life I have seen a rude business manager than they have. Posted on January 24, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ I was extremely displeased with the food. It was overcooked and distasteful. I will not be going there again. The restaurant itself is unclean. The staff filling containers with chili sauce etc. in plain sight of the patrons is in poor taste as well.
If there is any doubt that they serve food that is not halal or is contaminated with haram things, then why should we even take a chance to go there? There is no shortage of halal restaurants in the GTA, Masha'Allah, so why go to any place and waste our time and money on food that is not worth it and (most importantly) may not be hahal? Posted on January 3, 2009 |
★☆☆☆☆ We called them to book a table. They said they would have a table for us and when we got there they said we didnt call at all and were rude to us.We went to a different place. We have been a regular customer for 10 years and we wont go back at all. Posted on December 31, 2008 |

NR ASalam Alikum everyone
I didn't visit this place ever.
But I called and asked about it , did a quick research
food there has special taste and I tried it couple of times
they say the duck is not halal
but the chicken and meat they get it from zabiha which is part of maple lodge farms http://www.zabihahalal.com/
the thing is I am not sure about if they mix it or not with other kind of meat or chicken,
cause the guy didn't answer in a clear statement
I need or if someone else can help with this, to verify a statement or certificate that shows that this place gets there meat and chicken from ZABIHA, and if its possible have a quick look in their fridge..
thanks everyone and goodluck
salam alikum Posted on December 21, 2008 |

NR i was hoping someone could verify this, but I heard that the amount of halal meat they is quite small, and that this is mixed with the not-halal meat. My source is a friend of one of the suppliers from Lin Garden. Has anyone else heard this as well? Posted on October 17, 2007 |

★☆☆☆☆ NOT HALAL, they serve alcohol as well. Everything is done in the same kitchen. Posted on January 29, 2007 |

★★★★☆ By far the best tasting desi chinese food in T.O... the food is reasonably priced and the portions are huge... very fast service as well Posted on November 10, 2006 |

★★☆☆☆ it is a very dirty place Posted on September 30, 2006 |
★★★★☆ This right now to me is the top place for tasty food. Very fast and friendly service and great tasting food. I have seen them serve alcohol and they are not the cleanest restaurant in the city. For all the money they make they should renovate the washrooms. But I must stress that they have the best tasting food that I have experienced. Posted on April 1, 2006 |

NR Salaam Alaykum,
To all Brothers and Sisters. Please note the chicken wings here are NOT Halal. Posted on January 28, 2006 |

★★★★★ Salaam,
The food here is excellent. The duck is not Halal however. Prices are also very reasonable. Posted on January 2, 2006 |

★★★★☆ always take out whatever i want from this place, not too comfy with the piles of all the dishes they have sitting in plain view of everyone...the food itself is great...one the very few good halal desi chinese places left - 4 stars Posted on October 7, 2005 |

NR Regarding all dishes being washed together. Most restaurants use commercial dishwashers which heat the washing water to a very high temperature and they use commercial detergents. Plus, the dishes rest on an often partitioned frame. This is not like someone washing up dishes in their kitchen sink. I would be very surprised if after all of the powerful steaming water and air jets that anything that may have been in someone's glass remains. Posted on September 24, 2005 |
NR salam.sombody wrote its okay to if the restaurant has alcohol as long as its not on your table, but the dishes go in the same sink,so what about najasat getting on the dishes, and i am sure they dont wash 3 times so it would be pak. Posted on May 20, 2005 |

★★★★★ By the name of Allah. Everyone I know says this restaurant and the food is fantastic. BUT ... Can anyone confirm the religion of the owners/chefs? If they are polytheists, there could be najaasat issues for some... Posted on April 2, 2004 |

If you like spicy food, get the Manchurian Noodles and the Manchurian Chicken. The restaurant itself is not the nicest looking place but the food definitely makes up for it. ★★★★★ Definitely a great place for Halal Chinese, run by a Chinese lady from Calcutta (though, not muslim). The boneless Chilli Chicken and Chicken Manchurian are among the best you will taste. Very fast and efficient service and great value for money.
The beef and chicken are halal, not the duck. Also, they do not serve alcohol. Posted on October 4, 2003 |
