★★★★★ Much better then shalimar 1. Place is cleaner, bigger and surrounding area is better too. Food quality is the best in town. We tried lamb chops, chicken jalfrezi, tikka and koftay. Dessert options were not many. Posted on March 24, 2017 |

★★★★★ I am a tourist from south africa. We had just landed in sf and was looking for a place 2 eat on zabiha. We found this place bcos it was near 2 us.When we arrived we noticed how clean the place was and how they hadn't spent money on decor, but it was still clean and neat.We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the boti. Both the courses where fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!We enjoyed it.Best food we have ever tasted. Overall:great food, reasonably priced, clean & neat, not good bathrooms & friendly waiters. Posted on July 6, 2012 |

★★★★☆ For those looking for good food at reasonable prices, Shalimar delivers. If you want table service, ambiance, enlightening conversation with a professional waiter, search elsewhere. I first ate at their original location in the late 90's when I lived here. Came in here today with my family on vacation and we all enjoyed it. But forget about using the bathrooms; better not to go to the back of the restaurant! Posted on July 3, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ Yet another disappointment... in San Francisco..
We went to Shalimar with great hopes of finding a nice place to dine with my family. I went there hearing wonderful things about the restaurant, what I did not know is that the bar for the standard of food here is set so low...
The place was very dirty, filty and crowded. The food was okay, we ordered Sindhi Biryani, Chicken Boti and Seekh Kabab. Chicken boti and Biryani were average and the Kabab's were the worst I have ever had.
If a decent restaurant in San Francisco is as good as Shalimar, than people you have not eaten good Pakistani food...
My recommendation - waste of time and money.. don't bother ... Posted on May 28, 2012 |

★☆☆☆☆ After a long work day, I walk down 2.5miles to get there, with mind set that the food and people will be nice not only that place was dirty, I mean dirty and water jar was dirty as well. Once I get inside and get into my table accepting some one bring the menu or water or ask me what I wants, I was sitting few minutes and ask the person who was cleaning the table, he told me to go the cashier and order the food (his tone of voice was not friendly at all, seem like it he don’t care about the customer) after I order the food I ask for soft drink and he point me to and get it by-myself. I was planning to leave but I already order the food so I stay. After all food came and food was not what I have mind set. You can judge, I left the restaurant in ½ hours.
My overall feedback; Dirty, not friendly, food was not great and I will never go again when ever I am in town. Posted on September 15, 2011 |

★★★★☆ Food was pretty good. We ordered a bunch of bbq items and all of them met our expectations except the beef kebabs which had a really weird smell. When we asked the owner about it he really didnt have an explanation. Overall I liked the food with the one exception. The chicken tikka was really good. The chicken karahi which the owner himself recommended was real good too. Nihari was okay, wouldn't order that again. I think a lot of people have left bad reviews because they allow people to bring wine inside and some people might find that offensive. We were a family of 6 with 3 kids under 15 and we did not think it was a problem. People who had brought the alcohol were sipping it and not bothering anyone else. There were only 2 tables that had wine that night in the whole place and the place was packed. It didn't really bother us to be honest. Liked the food, liked the roti and they definitely had more people than Darbar across the street which made us go here. I would go back there again (but we wouldn't order the kebabs). ★★☆☆☆ I agree that the food at Shalimar is not nearly as good as it used to be a year or two ago. This location is slightly better, bigger, and cleaner than the Tenderloin spot. Posted on October 4, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ Seems This location of Shalimar is catered to non-Muslims and non-desis because they allow people to bring beer, wine and other alcohol inside and the tables get littered with bottles when people leave. Not a very family friendly environment. The food here is pretty good as with other Shalimars in the Bay Area but best to stick to the BBQ and tandoori items such as Chicken Tikka breast or leg piece, Chicken Boti, CTM, Seekh kababs and the Nihari is pretty good too. Also get the garlic naan and mango lassi. Chai is one of the best and it's free:)! Service was fast. Atmosphere is more of "singles" crowd in SF "club scene" so not very comfortable for Muslims in my opinion. Try Shalimar in Fremont or Sunnyvale locations for better family atmosphere. ★☆☆☆☆ Service was TERRIBLE from the start. Cashier was extremely rude. Cutlery not cleaned. Food just ok. Beef sheekh kabob tasted like lamb and full of fat. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Posted on March 30, 2010 |

★★☆☆☆ I disagree with most of the reviews here because I think these people might not have tried many other restaurants recently. Once, you do that, you will easily say that Shalimar is an overrated restaurant. I have been eating there for past 5 years. Had heard its name earlier than any other name, so kept on going there and not discovering other restaurants. The food used to be pretty good but has deteriorated much in past year or two. They have started putting Elaichee in every dish they cook like Saag Goasht, Daal etc. These dishes have nothing to do with Ilaichi, but do not know why these guys do that. Also, their chicken tikka used to be good but now it has lost its taste. Its just tasteless. I think the owners need to reinvest their time and interest to bring the taste to the level it was before. This is not even as good as Jones St. Shalimar is. Posted on October 27, 2008 |

★★★☆☆ I heard a lot about the world renown Shalimar in SF, however this was not the place. It's a hole in the wall and the food is so so at best. It was a fairly cold day when we went and there was no heat at all turned on. One saving grace was that the chai is complementary and quite good. Posted on January 30, 2008 |
