★★★☆☆ The platters are very very big and cheap at the same time.
Their taste was good. We tried the soup, kabab and chicken gyro. And their breads especially was wonderful.
They have a halal certification on the wall.
Owner is Turkish.
But the place is not clean enough and very old fashion.. Posted on August 7, 2014 |

★★★★★ Went here Thursday evening before the Lion King show and ordered the chicken kabob platter. My friend ordered the ground meat platter (don't remember the specific name). The chicken was very delicious and moist while the side dishes were very flavorful too. I tried a bite of the ground meat from my friend's platter and it was also very well seasoned and cooked thoroughly without tasting dried-out. I can definitely see myself coming back here if I am in the area again, especially for the homemade baklava and tea that looked so delicious in the display case. Everything tasted fresh and had a good mix of spices. Halaal signs posted very prominently behind the register area. Clean dining area (didn't see bathroom so can't say about that). ★★★☆☆ Tough meat and bland food. It's basically a lunch place for the people who work around there. Would probably not go back there unless there was no other halal option. The owner was friendly though. Posted on July 11, 2011 |

★★★★★ GREAT people, VERY friendly, GREAT food (I'd recommend the platters, which are excellent, instead of the gyros, which are ok). You get PLENTY of food, enough to take some home in a box. Located in a neat area (Civic Center) with museums and the main branch of the San Francisco library. Some outdoor seating. Everything is 100% halal and they're proud of it. Highly recommended. ★★★☆☆ I'm visiting SF area for couple of day. First the shop is not Turkish. They have only one one 2 Turkish entree. Though the owner is turkish. anyhow, food, what we liked is the grilled kofta, shish laba. The gyro was not that good. i'm not sure if i'm going back to eat from it. I think i will try other restaurants around. Posted on May 26, 2010 |

★★★★★ This place has halal certificates on the wall behind the register, showing where the meat is purchased from, etc. Owners are Turkish. They have nice kebaps, nice Ezo Gelin lentil soup, baklavas and other sweets, and sometimes they offer Turkish tea (which is prepared and boiled the Turkish way, with two-stack teapot "Caydanlik"). They do not have the Turkish style gyro "doener" though, but they have the one that looks and tastes like chavarma. Wiosh they had doener. They have TV featuring Turkish channels, for those whou would like to follow up on Turkey or watch soccer games. Nice and clean healthy fast-food place. Posted on July 11, 2009 |

★★★★☆ My family and I go here when we go to Giants baseball.
Kabob plates are delicious. I did'nt care for thier "Morrocan Rice", I suggest only get the regular rice.
Appitizers with meat are yummy, if you like the Syrian kind they are similar.
Fast pace, find a table if you can! Difficult parking, but it is excellent place to eat.
CLEAN! Order the tea, it is nice & dark Posted on February 22, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ Subhanallah, before I went to this place, I read all the reviews and concluded that this would be a good choice since all the reviews are positive, and to my surprise, it wasn't even close to what I expected. Those aren't gyros! It's a shawarma sandwich! I have to admit it is a good shwarma sandwich, but i was very disappointed finding out that it's not a gyro! You want a REAL halal gyro then you have to try one off of 56th and 3rd in New York. Masha'Allah no comparison! Never the less, if you just want a good halal sandwich and don't care that it's not a real gyro, then it's a great place. Very clean and well operated. Posted on May 19, 2008 |

★★★★☆ I had the chicken gyro sandwhich. It was pretty good. They had a sign on the door that said hand slaughtered zabihah meat. The interior of the restaurant was very clean as well. I will have to go back to try some of the Turkish plates. Posted on May 13, 2008 |

★★★★★ I eat @ this place 3-4 times a week. I travel over 45 minutes & over the Golden Gate Bridge to get here! Indeed it is worth it!!! The food is served clean, fresh with large portions... I really thought my mother was the best cook that ever exsisted, until I had Gyro King! Sorry Mom!!! However my mom loves their food also! Posted on June 24, 2006 |

★★★★★ The food at Gyro King is excellent and reasonably priced. It was definitely worth the walk though the seedy neighborhood in the pouring rain! We had the Adana kebap platter (grilled spiced ground lamb), oban salata (tomato and cucumber salad), patlıcan salata (eggplant salad), Turkish bread, and Turkish tea. My wife and I stuffed ourselves silly for $22. Everything was delicious and fresh-tasting, and was the most authentic Turkish food I've eaten so far outside of Turkey. My Mom recently visited Turkey, and we will have to drag her to Gyro King for a Turkish food fix. ok gözel! Gyro King scores 5 umlauts out of 5 on the Turkish food scale! Posted on January 9, 2006 |

★★★★★ Decided to visit the Gyro King after reading great reviews on this site and boy was I glad I did. The food reminded me of that of a small Greek restaurant I visited years ago on a trip to Europe. Thanks for the very helpful Islamic services that Zabihah.com provides and the super Halal restaurants in the growing Muslim communities. Posted on August 26, 2004 |

★★★★★ WOW! This is the best food I have had since I was at home in the old country. Everthing is fresh, 100% zabihah, top quality, and the best tasting food in the bay area. I will make sure and stop at Gyro King whenever I am in the San Francisco. Posted on August 25, 2004 |

★★★★☆ Good restaurant. Good sized portions. The owner/manager is a friendly gentleman. We ate at this place a number of times during our 3 day visit to the city. They stay open pretty late, so if you're in one of the hotels close by, you can walk down the street and grab a late nite bite. Posted on June 23, 2004 |

★★★★★ Excellent Gyro Sandwiches - I have tried Beef, chicken and combo - They are all very good. Also if then have fresh Bakhlava - make sure that you try. you won't be disappointed. Posted on December 4, 2003 |

★★★★☆ Delicious Turkish food - the platters are very big and the people are nice. Posted on December 2, 2003 |

|
★★★★☆ Excellent Gyros (the real stuff - not the MSG loaded strips of processed frozen meat passed around as Gyros at most places).
Adana kabab is good.
Bread is made in the restaurant and is great, authentic Turkish bread.
Ezo Gelin (lentil) soup+bread is good, costs only 2.95 and is pretty filling.
Nice change from the usual riff-raff.
Have an unusual orange dip/sauce that goes into everything thats real nice.
Folks are good too. Posted on October 14, 2003 |
