★★★☆☆ There is no Halal sign. I asked the reception girl to check it for me and after coming back from kitchen, she told me it's "zabihah Halal". So it was mainly verbal assurance. Place is really really nice. Service is good. Food is very well cooked and tasted really good. For dessert we ordered " Falouda mix" which is pistachio ice cream with some Iranian stuff on it. OMG, if I will ever go to SanDiego, I will make sure to go there and eat that dessert, simply outstanding. The place is little pricy, but it's in the heart of Downtown and nice place. Well worth of money!!! Posted on October 26, 2014 |

★☆☆☆☆ I recently moved to California and have been trying really hard to go around and find halal restaurants. This is NOT halal. I asked the waiter who didnt know what halal was and then he came back and said yes !!.. They sell alcohol and the owner said that he had to because its profitable. If they owner doesnt care about halal and haram with alcohol, why would he go out of his way and pay more for halal meat. I would suggest to go to other halal restaurants instead. ★★★★☆ just like the posters below, the first thing that struck me was how nice it was. i self-verified this restaurant so it's on them, but it would be nice to have a 3rd party check their meat sources. its located right in downtown, next to horton plaza, so parking was a doozy. the staff was helpful and accommodating. the food was great. ive had persian food in other cities and restaurants and this one ranks up there. great portions but a little pricey. the atmosphere is really nice as well so this is a great place to bring your friends and family. id recommend bandar! ★★☆☆☆ I didn't like this one much. The place is nice and elegant and the flavor is excellent but the koobideh is not lean at all... Posted on September 1, 2009 |

★★★☆☆ The neighborhood is very busy with a lot of bars and people (a little like a club scene on Friday night) Although we had a reservation we weren't seated for a half hour passed our reservation time. The upscale Persians who dine there seem to be very on the snooty side giving me and my husband wierd looks. Although, if you can muster all that, the service is great, the food is incredible, and the ambiance is nice. The portions are so large that you will surely have plenty of left-overs. Overall, highly recommended!! Posted on November 17, 2007 |

★★★★☆ Bandar, a Persian ristorante in the heart of the Gaslamp District. We were told that certain items were Halal (koubideh, lamb shank) on the phone and this was later verified by the wait staff. However, I would definitely recommend self-verification of Zabihah items before ordering.
The koubideh plate was expensive, but the quantity was enormous and the quality was pretty decent. You'll definitely be bringing home leftovers unless your a bodybuilder or fat. Posted on December 15, 2006 |
