★★☆☆☆ Tldr: Only go here if you're desperate for halal foods and all the other places are closed.
Order was messed up. Food was late, which is fine if it tasted good but unfortunately that's not the case here. The shawarma I got was burnt and bland. Rice was not that appealing. I would probably grab a pizza or a sandwich from Subway instead. Posted on December 28, 2014 |

The food is good. Posted on March 31, 2014 |

★★★★★ I visited Sajj back in 2008 when I was in San Bruno for couple of weeks. That was the only halal restaurant there at the time. The taste was so good that I still remember it even after 5 years.
Lots of items on menu with affordable prices and fresh food, made my visit a pleasure.
Planning to go there again next year and cant wait to visit this restaurant. Posted on October 10, 2013 |

★★★★☆ FOOD TAKES AN HOUR for a large party, so be warned. Take out takes a long time too, because it it is fresh to order, I hope they work on this, the issue could be because the menu is so large...So happy we found this place after reading the reviews it was close by so we wanted to try it. SURPRISE, they have a full halal Italian menu, not fast food Italian, like real pasta and lasagna! I ordered chicken parmesan, hubby ordered a calzone with meat, friends ordered a sharwarma, and fettichine alfredo. WILL BE BACK. Posted on April 5, 2011 |

★★★☆☆ On reading the reviews I decided to order from this place since I live within their delivery area. 50 mins later, my order arrived, but half my order was missing. I called to find out what happened and the lady told me it was her mistake and the rest of the order would be at my place in about 7 mins. I had ordered the kibbeh, the chicken shawarma and the combo platter. The platter was great but the kibbeh lacked bulgur wheat and tasted and looked like it had been fried in batter. I've had way better at other mediterranean restaurants. I ordered the chicken shawarma as it was listed as their most popular shawarma but I can't say it was all that good. It had way too much tahini and way too much red onion and I've never had a shawarma with pickled gherkins in it before. Perhaps the food would be a lot better if eaten in rather than take out since I don't think mediterranean food, esp. the breads keep warm well when not eaten immediately. I do like that they have a range of Italian items on their menu along with pizza. So pretty average I'd say but perhaps I'll give them another shot since the combo platter was atleast worth the money. Posted on May 28, 2010 |

★★★★★ My husband and I went to this restaurant while we were on a trip to San Francisco and were really craving shawerma. :-) We ordered the lamb shawerma, and it was very delicious. The meat was so tasty, juicy, and well-cooked. We also loved the dried pita that we were given to eat with the little mezza. We finished the meal with a nice piece of kunafa bel qeshta. The only thing I didn't like was that they added lettuce to the shawerma. I wish they added some cilantro and onion with the tomatoes and the tahini sauce. It would definitely be more delicious this way. But still, it's a pretty great restaurant and I recommend it. We might go back before we leave San Francisco, it's that good. :-) Posted on January 1, 2010 |

★★★★★ This place has the best lamb shawermas I've had in about 10 years. They remind me of the ones I had back in Dubai. The restaurant is located on San Mateo av which has a lot of other restaurants too, so its in a nice area with plenty of parking. The service was very good and the prices very reasonable. Theres a halal grocery store next door too. I highly recommend the Shawermas and the falafel plate. They also have very good vegetarian dishes. My new favorite restaurant in the area!!! ★★★★★ This review is going to be short... Just take a look at the photos i took of their Combo plate. All that food for only $16! It was very good and i ended up bring some back home. The Lamb was the best I thought. Also the place is Hala (the owner is the same as the Middle East Meat/Food place next door) which is rare in the San Mateo area. But this place is not getting 5 stars for just being Hala, it gets 5 star because of the food. That Combo plate blew me out of the water.
Also the Coffee is great as they have Turkish coffee which is very good. Posted on November 23, 2008 |
